## Community Q&A

**Q: What is the finish on the concrete decking around the pool?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is the decking poured concrete with a stamped finish of some sort, or is this stone?

A: Thank you

**Q: Rust free?** *(in Product Questions)*

Can I leave the chairs in pool tanning ledge area (so legs are in water) and not worry about potential rust?

A: following..

**Q: Need help centering a new breakfast light.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I've got a lovely coffered ceiling in my breakfast area. But... I don't like the breakfast table centered under the light. I'm changing it out in the next day or two and wondered if I should shift the light with a swag hook. Comments? Other ideas?

A: Sample ceiling light fixture

**Q: Need help for my dark foyer Victorian era foyer.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have a large dark foyer...lots of dark oak and very little natural light. I would appreciate any thoughts or insight on how to liven it up a bit. My house is an 1880's Victorian. I'm reluctant to paint over the oak particularly since its in wonderful original condition. The foyer is quite large but between the stains glass and a deep porch restricting light through the front door I feel like its just too dreary. Any thought or ideas?

A: Gorgeous! painting the floor with a large geometric pattern also a light gold/silver runner on the stairs and some upholstered arm chairs in a velvet (sheen) fabric. Large mirror and larger scaled chandelier :)

**Q: Need help for ugly curb appeal house** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My daughter is purchasing her first home, it is a great house in the front, but the side view is awful with a misplaced center brow that houses the master bath and closet. It doesn't have any curb appeal to it and you pull up to this side on arrival. Should we change the roof line? Will painting the porch white bring the eye down and make the upper level not appear so obviously to the visitor? This is driving us crazy. She is honestly thinking of pulling out of the deal because of it, the rest of the house is amazing just needs decorating ( pics are from the listing, not her decorating). I would appreciate any suggestions and pictures you could offer. Thank you so much

A: HoverGirl.. wondering what program your using for rendering and editing?? Thanks, great suggestions by the way.

**Q: Trying to convert our traditional doors to modern. Any ideas?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to update/modernize our six panel doors. Could be we just have to throw in the towel; however, they are solid wood. We are getting ready to undergo a remodel. Our new home needs some TLC. Can these exterior doors have glass inserted or altered slightly to give them a modern feel? And our six panel interiors - what to do? Or are we better off putting that money to use purchasing new interior and exterior doors? Need your experience and creativity. Thank you!

A: Large black Iron hardware would modernize these doors
