We became aware of Kirsten Pike Design through an editorial we read and viewed in Marin Magazine a couple of years ago about Kirsten's firm. We kept the article and were delighted to have the good fortune to hire this remarkable team for the remodel of our home. We wanted a somewhat Scandinavian feel, and Kirsten is originally from Copenhagen. We wanted the feel to be light, airy, modern, and yet cozy with a good dash of Danish"hygge". Kirsten had the entire house demoed. We now have a brand-new kitchen, completely new bathrooms and powder room, new hardwood flooring, new doors, a brand-new fireplace, and Kirsten designed and had fabricated a beyond fantastic, new staircase. She tore down a non-bearing wall to expand the kitchen to bring in more light and expansion, and designed a unique, artistic long bench that separates the living room from the dining room. So much light now streams into the dining room. Kirsten brought in every single person who worked on the project, from the contractor to the wallpaper people to the fine cabinetry and custom kitchen cabinet maker. All new furnishings throughout are mostly from Europe, and some pieces, of course, from Denmark. The only touches we wanted from the past were paintings from our collection, amongst them a couple of Chagalls, which look fantastic here. Kirsten reframed all the art to make it all work with the new look and feel of the interiors. We love all the personal touches throughout and adore Kirsten's very hands-on approach throughout the process. The result is everything and more than we wanted. In staying with the rustic cowboy theme, you desired, I added a collection of daggers and arrowheads in a modern display of Plexiglas. Also placed about 20 etchings and paintings of the famous artist Edward Borein on your walls.
