### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Becky Rooney, Feb. 2021**

> We worked with Laura and Bill for a new kitchen and first story extension, and I love it every single day. I'm not sure words can describe how positive my experience with Laura and Bill was. From the first call we had together, to our initial visit, all the way through to the project's end, it was terrific. As a homeowner who really wasn't sure what she wanted, I always felt that I was in excellent hands with Laura on the design front. It was clear she had a strong vision of what would work best for me and my family, one that would suit our needs AND be stunning. Laura designed no less than EIGHT concepts for us to consider and we as a team landed on the right one. From then on, she held my hand through big decisions and small but key design choices, and I was never on my own worrying that I might make a fatal error. I knew that was not going to happen with Laura's keen eye for details and excellent customer service.
>
> Then, we decided that it only made sense to have Bill, contractor extraordinaire, do the construction and we are so glad we did. All the trades people who work with him (some for 20+ years) were excellent, speedy and lovely to have in and out of the house. Bill knows his stuff and doesn't settle for errors or sloppy work, having a few things corrected as the project went on. They were here almost every day, which helped us reach the ambitious timeline of just under three months for an extension and new kitchen, so that we could have it for Christmas. For 2020 of all years, that was amazing.
>
> In terms of the permits, engineers, etc, it was all included so we didn't have to worry about that at all. Bill even found that the permits from a previous reno were never closed and alerted us. Fantastic customer service, quality from start to finish, it was just a great experience.
>
> I highly recommend Bravehart Interiors for any reno you want to make a reality!

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks for the positive review Becky.
> We endeavour to be detail oriented and deliver beautiful, functional spaces- and, most importantly, try to make the experience as positive as possible.
> However, clients with your positive attitude make it happen more easily- especially since we worked through winter weather to take the back wall out of the house in order to add the addition!!!! Lots of site protection and eventual cleaning service by us to try to control the worst of dust as you lived and functioned in the house. You are especially great clients to work with and hope we have more projects together!!!!

**★★★★★ — Jo Ferris-Davies, Feb. 2021**

> I have nothing but good things to say about Laura and Bill at Braveheart. Laura transformed our third floor Annex home in Toronto. And Bill managed a rebuild that would challenge a saint. (Anyone who owns a 115 year old house with tricky access will know what I am referring to).
> I have lived in the space now for the past 2,5 months and still marvel every day about the beauty, comfort and balance of the room. It is beyond fabulous. And I know there is no way I could have ever conceptualized the final design without both Laura’s creative genius and experience and Bill’s solid background in construction.

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks Jo for the review.
> We do believe that planning is key to the success of a space.
> The fact that we were able to review different concepts with different budgets at the outset with you- did help you to selet the final 'best space' layout.
> And, it was a pleasure to work with you to provide design and construction for custom bed, custom mattress, smart home sound and internet services, interior design selections from major retailers that fit your style and your comfort specifically. Enjoy! Can hardly wait until this is all over and we are able to photograph the space!!!!

**★★★★★ — Cathy Gibbs, March 2019**

> We have used Bravehart Design for a number of projects. They have always worked in a timely fashion and kept us in the loop. Great communication. Laura's sense of space and what it is to be used for is outstanding. We have never been disappointed. The quality of the workmanship is second to none. We have just hired them for our next project. We would not hesitate to recommend them.

**★★★★★ — Kirk West, Feb. 2017**

> We hired Laura and Bravehart to redesign our bungalow for a growing family. Laura's attention to detail and determination to hit all our checkboxes is one of the reasons we like working with her. She has a clearly defined process for designs and follows it. She's creative and has a lot of experience in this. I did my research prior to hiring her and have no regrets.

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks for your comments. We are still working on this project and once permits available, the exciting part begins - building!!! It is a pleasure working with you and your family.

**★★★★★ — Natasha Faucher, Jan. 2017**

> Laura has been instrumental with the renovation of our 100-year-old semi. From the beginning, she is quick to respond to emails and calls and is always available, even while on vacation! She conceptualized several designs for our renovation, paying particular attention to details, ensuring that every kitchen cupboard has a purpose, plenty of space in the living room, and adding a bedroom and bathroom to increase the value of the house. The final design ensured we would bypass COA. Her and her team submitted the zoning application and building permit on our behalf. Laura helped us see the potential in our house, which we would have missed. Her attention to detail and candor are second to none.

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks for your review. The importance of space planning cannot be emphasized enough, in our belief. There are many ways one can transform their home and it's important to look at the options, along with budget and potential timelines to accomplish the various and desired approaches.
> As clients, you immediately understood the value of considering ideas that are expected and un-expected, to realize your personal goals for the house.

**★★★★★ — fgallagher1234, Nov. 2016**

> Our project required knowledge of zoning, conservation, building and architectural/interior design disciplines - the people at Bravehart brought this to us. They provided alternative workable ideas on how to transform our house into a more functional, bright and comfortable space, showing us preliminary budgetary scopes along with the designs.
> We are currently assessing which approach is the best one for us - however, we have no hesitation in saying that we are pleased with their work and would recommend them to other people wanting to transform their homes

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks for your comments and hope we get to help you build your home transformation soon.

**★★★★★ — Shower Door of Canada, Aug. 2016**

> Bravehart are wonderful builders who treat clients, trades and their own staff with great respect. They are a great company to work with. On this i job we installed a painted glass backsplash in the kitchen which the client is most happy with. Thanks Laura great job!

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> We appreciate your attention to detail, as do our clients. Thanks

**★★★★★ — Margaret Lam, May 2016**

> Laura from Bravehart designed our house transformation, and helped us through the permit process. She's creative and listens to our needs. We now have the building permits and ready to build!

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks for the review for Bravehart Building Design, Plans and Permits. It is a pleasure to work with you and your husband.

**★★★★★ — Anadel LC Inc, Feb. 2016**

> We do hardwood flooring installation and our team worked with this company for a few projects. So far, we have only positive things to say about Bravehart Design. WELL ORGANIZED - when you come to the site to start your job you can see, that everything is ready for you and the work can get started quickly. PROFESSIONAL APPROACH - very good knowledge about the products and market demands. READY TO LISTEN - when we have some professional suggestion, they listen to it very carefully and make the changes.
> Anadel LC Inc 416 918 6147

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks for your comments. Thanks for caring enough to come back and check on minor issues and to follow-up with a phone call after. We really appreciate your attention to detail as that is the type of culture in our company - clients appreciate it too!

**★★★★★ — sandrameinig, Dec. 2015**

> This review is for the design phase of our kitchen/family room. We moved into a lovely house six years ago with a terrible, inefficient kitchen and pokey tv room. For six years I've been thinking about how to make this both a functional and beautiful space. I had been unable to come up with any given the odd footprint of the house. I chose Bravehart because I liked the idea of having someone experienced in space design and interior design but what really got my attention was the formal project framework Bravehart applies. With the wish list provided, Laura set out to try and fit in all the things we wanted. My husband and I were starting to think we needed a new list of what we would give up when Laura produced a plan that was pure genius - we didn't need to give up anything! Laura managed to untie the Gordian Knot! Looking forward to the detailed design and build phase!

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks for your review. Clients who live in houses that need to be 'just that bit larger' know the power of effective Space Planning. Looking forward to building out the space for you at Construction stage and getting all the Interior Design details organized and installed.
> Thanks for your confidence in our firm. Your house will be more comfortable and beautiful soon!

**★★★★★ — Marvel Mechanical, Nov. 2015**

> It has been a pleasure working with Bravehart Building, they are a well organized company that looks at every detail from Design through Permit Planning and Construction. If you are looking for a reliable trustworthy company no need to look any further!!

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks for your comments and for being part of the team. We appreciate working with licensed mechanical professionals who also have all of their insurance and City licensing. It ensures our clients are working with an effective and safe team.

**★★★★★ — adavino, Aug. 2015**

> I worked with Laura Pollard of Braveheart Design to create plans to renovate my home. We had very specific requirements that required a great deal of creavity and customization in order to achieve. Laura had very innovative ideas that were well balanced with maintaining a focus on practicality. I truly enjoyed my experience working with her and am very pleased with the outcome.

**Comment from Bravehart Interiors:**

> Thanks for your comments and we look forward to helping you build when City passes the building permit.

## Community Q&A

**Q: what is the ceiling height?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Thanks!

A: Hi,
This was a renovation, not a new build. I believe the ceiling height is just over 8'.

**Q: Are the bookshelves custom built? Or were they made to order?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The bookshelves were custom built to dimensions provided for the wall - which included a gas fireplace and a TV area and also a small bar area with hidden bar fridge.
The client decided on the size of the items above which defined how the wall was divided up- into 'sections' for cabinetry construction.
It's always a good idea to firstly understand the purpose of the feature wall and the elements which will be incorporated. Then, after determining the needs for the space and the products to involved, the total wall width can be 'carved up' in a dimensioned drawing showing the balance of cabinetry (and fireplace tile).
In this case, I believe at least 2 elevation ideas were provided to the client in order to decide the best layout for the elements.

**Q: How much space is there between bookshelves?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: It is based on size of Gas Fireplace unit selected (it's the Valor L1) and the width of tiling required beside fireplace unit to make space look balanced- approx. 12" each side.
The elevation plan was produced to scale, showing different configurations of fireplace and cabinetry design. The client selected one elevation for production.

**Q: love your fireplace** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the size of the wall that-the fireplace is on? Thank you

A: I cannot remember exactly, however, the photo angle/lens is making the wall look longer than it is - I believe the room was approx. 18' long. Areas were divided into 3's - with FP in middle.
Hope this helps.

**Q: POLL: What is most important when buying kitchen appliances?** *(in Polls)*

When it comes to purchasing appliances for the kitchen, do you prefer that all products come from the same manufacturer? Or do you shop around for the best appliance for each function (stove refrigerator, or dishwasher), regardless of the brand.

A: Is everyone aware that some brands require proprietary service companies?
So if your appliance requires service, or breaks down, you cannot call a generally great service technician as they are unable to touch certain brands.
This is why I stopped using LG in our market.
We have a fantastic guy who can troubleshoot anything- he is fast, honest and comes in an instant if we have trouble - and he can service 90% of products out there.
However, he is not allowed to touch certain manufacturers brands, nor is he able to purchase parts for those brands!!!
Who knew?
This is something I make clients aware of as we like to provide 'full service' and not leave clients hanging if they run into a jam.
Like the client who's child tried to load his morning toast into the video tape player!!!!

**Q: Canadians: Do you use Postal Codes for local search?** *(in Polls)*

When you are searching for pros by location online, do you typically use the postal code to refer to your search area? If so, do you typically use just the first three characters or the full six character code?
Specifically, when you visit our pro directory's search box, which of the following options would be your preferred way to search?
VOTE and let us know the details in the comments!

A: Or should I have said "mail persons"?
