The challenges for our project were to incorporate modern conveniences (closets and open space, for example), minimize fussiness and clutter, and yet remain true to elegance of the home’s past. Major structural issues and the problem of a seasonal creek that leaked into the unfinished basement had to be addressed. And of course there is always the occasionally wayward contractor whose execution of aesthetics might not align with the vision of the project. Anne and her architectural team guided us through the planning and approval process, were available and communicated well and often, and brought their exceptional creativity and experienced management skills to our project. Yes, the budget was blown, but that has much more to do with the place I chose to build than the design.
