> Susan helped me select a window shade and fabric for our master bedroom windows, then made the fabric into beautiful draperies with coordinating pillows. The draperies are beautiful and the craftsmanship is superb. She has excellent design sense and really listens to the client. Susan will work within your budget; there are no surprises. We love our bedroom now, and I enjoyed working with Susan. ~ Lynn

> I called Susan to do plantation shutters in my home. Plantation Shutters are expensive. In 2014 I replaced 4 window covers with the shutters and loved them. In 2015 I had Susan do plantation shutters on 2 big windows in the front of my home. They look amazing. Her installer was very professional. I have more work planned for Susan in the future.

> When my wife and I began looking for window treatments for our new home, we asked for referrals from neighbors and friends. One name that continuously came up was ExcitingWindows by Susan Day. Based on those recommendations we asked Susan to come to our home. We were very pleased that Susan listened to our needs, provided a variety of options and then measured and showed us samples. After selections were made, Susan delivered a quote to us outlining the individual and total costs including tax and labor. Soon after, we placed our order and Susan delivered and installed the materials within the time she had specified. The results were amazing. My wife and I are thrilled that we made the choice to use ExcitingWindows by Susan Day. Thank you, Susan, for your professional service and personal touch!

> I have used Susan on a number of rooms, and have been pleased every time. The first time I contacted her, I really had no idea what style or fabric I wanted for my living room. She took her time with me, and came up with a great design and finding that right fabric ended up being painless for me. Her installation staff is wonderful too, he knows what he's doing and has everything cleaned up when he leaves.

> Have had the opportunity to use Susan's services and make purchases on two separate occasions. Have been very happy with the results...Professional, knowledgeable, timely, courteous, tenacious and very good at what she does! I have the coolest new shades that work with a program from my phone and will be great for energy conservation and are so very stylish in my two recently completed rooms. THANK YOU for all your help!

## Community Q&A

**Q: What price point do you doors start at?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I would like to use solid core doors

A: Hi James, this pair cost $1800 for upholstering and rehanging. Customer found handles. We always have Customer provide solid core doors hung and fitted properly with gaps for the faux leather and batting, then given to us.

**Q: Tack size** *(in Photo Questions)*

What size tacks should I use to do a door similar to this? And how did you get your design so perfect?

A: Hi Dayna, These tacks are about 5/8" head. Upholstery supply places have dozens of styles and finishes. A hard rubber mallet is important for putting these on. On the straight lines, i would lay a piece of painters tape along the line that had the spaces marked on it (just little tick marks with a sharpie), then would hand set about a foot at a time, poking the nail thru the faux leather. because of the layers of batting underneath, they'll kind of stand up for you . then i worked my way down the row, grabbing the nail w a pair of needlenose pliers and tapping it halfway in, on down the row. once they were mostly set, i'd go down the row and whack them the rest of the way in, leaning the mallet head slightly one way or another to keep them going in straight. You kind of get the feel for it, practice on a scrap/sample board.
Door must be solid, no hollow core doors for this! I also used a chalk fabric marker to mark the lines sometimes. Happy to help,

**Q: where did you get the handle made?** *(in Photo Questions)*

where did you get the handle made?

A: Dear frzz777, these came from reeddecor.com. There were two pairs, sandwiched on either side of both doors. We discussed other designs for the upholstery tack layout, but this simple arrangement let the film reels remain the "star" of the doors. When upholstering doors, you must hang the doors first, solid doors are best, then make adjustments on top/sides/bottom to allow for the thickness of the leather. We also added a 1" welt cord along the lead edges to make the two edges rounded where they met, and make a good light seal. I'll try to upload more photos, but the actual wood doors needed about a 1" gap between them so that the film reel handles wouldn't hit each other when the doors swing. You designing a theater?
