Kitchen Remodel on a budget...** *(in Remodeling)* I posted about a month and a half back some pictures of my outdated kitchen, looking for some input for a remodel on a budget. Although I got some unexpected heat for trying to tackle such a big project on such a small budget, as well as for trying to change the laminate, I took some of the helpful advice as well and decided not to be deterred. I am glad to say I think it worked out pretty good and I am more than excited and happy with the results. Did I end up with a fancy, HGTV kitchen? Not really, but I am cooking more in it, it works beautifully with the flow of the house now, and I think I got some bang for my buck. I actually came in under my 2k budget, so with the spare funds I'm getting the stools for the kitchen island and maybe some under cabinet lighting. I obviously had some help, but a lot of the work was from my hands. Patience and determination can definitely pay off. Also, do your research and ask for advice. Just be ready to hear some things you may not want to, consider it all, and then do what you feel is right because in the end you have to live with it, not everyone else. I was considering a grey glazed 2x9 brick but now I’m thinking a black or grey and white encaustic cement tile, or something that looks like it would be stunning. A: White marble subway tile is always classic and will go great with your kitchen. Also, the new tiles that look handmade would be a perfect fit. in soft grey, or white, and glazed. **Q: should I paint the cabinets white or leave?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Just put in new countertops. Should I paint the cabinets white or leave? We will be doing a marble herringbone backsplash. A: Hi there, your wood cabinets look beautiful and a bit rustic. With the white countertop, and I am assuming white marble backsplash, it might be nice to leave the cabinets as is and see how you like it so far. If you want to make the kitchen a bit more new, add a few new accessories in white and black. Don't put anything on top of the cabinets. Maybe paint the walls too. Not every kitchen needs to be white. **Q: Dining room Chandelier style! Yes or No?** *(in Polls)* Do either of these chandeliers go with this dining table? Also there will be a reclaimed wood bar wall to the right of the dining table. The dining table is oval so wondering if oval is okay with rectangular shaped lighting...if the wood finish is better or if dark blackish bronze finish goes better with this dining set?
