**★★★★★ — David, Dec. 2016**

> I honestly cannot recommend this firm enough. Nastasi Vail Design personally worked with us to create plans for a smaller apartment that is not only beautiful and functional, but also highly sensitive to our preferences. The end result was truly the perfect mix of taking the incoherent ideas we had and elements we liked, and then adding a torrent of their own ideas and expertise: elevating the output beyond what we could have imagined into comprehensive, highly detailed plans for a beautiful, coherent, functional space. If you are reading this, as I was, and wondering which firm you should reach out to—stop here. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

> I used this firm twice. For my New York apartment and my condo in Florida. Since I was in Florida when the New York apartment was being done they handled just about everything for me. After we made the initial selections of wallpaper, color scheme, furniture selection and placement they then supervised and coordinated all work. I came home to a beautiful apartment that continues to get compliments. Using creativity they were able to put a small linen closet in my bathroom and reconfigure an old book shelf so that I could add a television and have a workspace at the same time.
> In Florida again working long distance and supplying them with photographs of furniture from another home they were able to do a floor plan and show me how I was going to be able to use much of the furniture. They also helped select the paint colors, a few pieces of furniture that had to be purchased and the fabrics for all of the window treatments.
> They are true professionals and a pleasure to work with. Mrs. Damico

> David did an amazing job for our total gut renovation in Southampton. We hired Nastasi Vail Design to completely furnish our newly renovated 5,000 sq. foot home in Southampton. David did an amazing job giving us a variety of choices for furniture wall coverings and colors but remaining within our budget. He was meticulously organized and spent time understanding the desired look we wanted to achieve. I would absolutely hire them again.

> Our experience with Nastasi Vail Design has been wonderful. From the redesign of the layout of our new apartment to the advice on all of the details for furniture and finishing we could not have been happier with the final result. David and Kate are great to deal with - they're organized and thorough, they listen to our preferences while also giving their input and guiding us through the process. The project finished on time and within budget - both David and Kate were engaged from start to finish so that we felt confident throughout the process. They are informed of the resources and options in the market so we felt that we were able to make the right design decisions based on having a broad knowledge of what was available to choose from. JR and Peter

 - Description: This Brooklyn Townhouse has had a long an illustrious history. It started its life as a Greek Revival in the 1840s, was remodeled by a Civil War General in the 1890s, and ultimately became the Brooklyn Women's Club as the battle for women's sufferage heated up in 1912. At some point in the 1980s it was converted to apartments. Unfortunately much of its interior architecture was removed. We were given essentially plain white boxes. All the millwork, cabinetry, and even the interior doors are new.…

 - Location: Portland, ME
 - Photos: 63
 - Description: 19th Century Farmhouse and Barn Just outside of Portland Maine, in the small town of Buxton, a little Victorian farmhouse and barn sat lonely and neglected. Lack of maintenance and a harsh climate had weathered it to the point that no one seemed to think it worth saving. When our client found it the local fire department had plans to burn it down. Thankfully she had imagination and a vision. It is an on going project, but after only a year and a half the transformation is dramatic.

 - Description: Renovation of a one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn Heights for a couple who needed a lot of storage in a limited amount of space. The clients wanted plenty of book and clothing storage and as one of them worked from home files, paperwork and office equipment needed to be easily and quickly stored away at the end of the day.

 - Location: East Hampton, NY

 - Description: Character: A small contemporary cottage settled on a private wooded road in East Hampton needed a pick-me-up. Color: The floors had been bleached white and counter to beach convention we had them dyed black, then stained black, and finished in satin. Almost instantly the house felt larger. All the walls are painted the same off white - which has a calming effect - and coupled with the black floor the neutrality allowed every added color to jump and pop. Furniture: The house is set within a clear…

 - Description: In New York City every bit of space counts. The rear hall of this Upper West Side apartment was generous, but underutilized. Custom built-ins transformed a hallway into an office that can be shut out of site when work is done or company comes. The cabinetry contains a drop down desk, filing cabinets, storage for office and computer equipment, thin shelves for paperback books, and deep shelves for the display of art and objects brought back from the client’s trips abroad.

Among other exemplary works he was responsible for River House, one of Manhattan's most luxurious buildings. We had the privilege of working on this house with a wonderful couple. They hired us to redesign the existing kitchen, pantry, master bathroom, solarium cabinetry, living room bar, and an assortment of odds and ends. ## Community Q&A

**Q: tile** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please share the white tile name/source and the size of the grout lines? Gorgeous space!

A: https://subwaytile.com/ Subway Ceramics: A Heritage Tile Collection - I believe it was 1/16" but ask their advice. The project is a few years old and I cannot remember. They have a great collection,

**Q: .? Dimensions** *(in Photo Questions)*

I know it gets annoying, but would yo happen to know room dimensions?

A: I am not sure of the room dimensions exactly, but approximately 10'6" x 14'-0". I don't have the plans with me.

**Q: I love the tile used for the floor! Can you share the name of it?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Sorry for the delayed response. Floor Tile: from Granada Tile - Normandy, cement tile, custom colors

**Q: Beautiful Whites** *(in Photo Questions)*

The room is stunning. I have a similar bookcase currently White Dove, but I am not sure I want to do the walls the same. Would you share with me the colors on the walls, trim and bookcase? Thank you.

A: I apologize for not get back to you sooner. We are a small firm and we tend to get to these e-mails a bit late. The bookcase is painted in Benjamin Moore Classic Gray in a Satin Impervo finish in oil paint. The walls are white, but I don't currently have the color. The Classic Gray may work nicely with White Dove.

**Q: Love this place. How big?** *(in Photo Questions)*

How many sq. ft. is the entire complex? Thanks!

A: Hello, We are a small firm and don't always get to answers these e-mails so quickly. I am afraid I don't have a number for you, but you could call Flanagan Farm directly if you are interested in renting the location.

**Q: Guest house** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love your work especially redoing a former chicken coop! Very cozy! I'd like to do something like this in 1920's barn we've just inherited.

A: Thank you so much. It was a wonderful project. This part was relatively easy as all the wiring was done externally, and there was minimal plumbing for the small outside bathroom. However, it is a seasonal space. Our clients had me sleep in at the end of September, and although the bed was snug - I raced from my covers to the main house in the morning for a wash up and other necessities. ;)
