**Q: Help with kitchen cabinets and wall colors** *(in Home Decorating)*

Hello! We bought a house that has a very outdated kitchen. We don't want to spend money to redo the countertops and backspash but are thinking of repainting the cabinets and perhaps the walls. What colors or designs would you recommend? Also ideas for the overhead pendant lamp would be helpful.

A: Looking at your countertop and flooring colors I would recommend a Sherwin Williams color called Dover White for the cabinets. this will lighten your room and still blend  well with your floor and countertops.  The walls I would bring in a little pop of color to give the room some energy. Something like Evergreen Fog by Sherwin Williams or a lighter shade of that color.

**Q: Quartz warranties** *(in Building a Home)*

Hello,
I received 3 qoutes for kitchen quartz countertop today and they all say "Black quartz there is no warranty on it because it's hard to fabricate" Not sure if this is a standard.....?

A: I sell black quartz countertops all the time and warranty is not a issue. This is your countertop fabricator that is having a issue. Find a new fabricator.

**Q: Paneled appliances possible when using Pre-fab cabinets ??** *(in Kitchens)*

We are redoing our kitchen with prefab cabinets. They are limited to what they have available. They cannot help me with panels for appliances nor can they offer the paint color used so I can attempt to match it. 
Is there any way to achieve a paneled appliance look? Do I need custom carpentry work for this? Or is it a safer bet to just go with stainless steel (although I don’t prefer it)?
The doors are white beveled shaker doors, very simple. See photo for sample

A: Why would you buy cheep cabinets and but spend a lot on your appliances for panel ready doors? To answer you question you probably wont be able to get them if its a stock cabinet. Panel ready appliances have strict size requirement.

**Q: What large sinks will definitely fit a 33" cabinet base?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm working on a kitchen remodel (previously) and my current design has a 36" sink cabinet so that I can have a 33" inch workstation sink (Kraus) because for that size sink the recommended cabinet is 36". I'd like to know what large sinks can definitely fit in a 33" cabinet, and how to talk to the plumber my GC will use to make sure they can fit it in if there's anything non-standard that needs to be done, like scooping the size of the cabinet or using straps. 

I'm open to any sinks, generally what I am looking for in order of importance is: 
1\) stainless steel, 
2\) single bowl, 
3)topmount with holes in the metal (this is a pet peeve of my husband, he hates getting the counter wet when turning the sink off)
4\) (not so important) would like workstation functionality, 16 gauge steel and non-zero turn corner (slightly rounded)



The total wall length I'm working with is 18' 2.25" and there's a 6" chase pictured on the left side that might get a bit smaller but generally has to stay.
With 36" sink cabinet this is my (partial) layout:



there is only a tiny amount of gap/filler (1") between the dishwasher and stove, and I think it actually needs to get up to 1.5" so the sink would be a bit off center to accommodate that.
A 33" sink base gets me this layout:



This has 2.5" between dishwasher and range with the sink cabinet centered.

A: Joseph Corlett,
If your undermounting the sink in a 33" sink base then yes you could go with a 33" sink if you dont mind the side getting cut out of the cabinet. A 36" would avoid all this and it allows the installers to get a good install on the clips on the sides. 
For example on this Kohler spec sheet of the Vault sink calls for a 36" sink base on a 33" sink

**Q: Should this countertop be replaced?** *(in Home Disasters)*

We just about completed our fabulous new kitchen when this happened: When the countertop fabricator drilled holes for faucets, it appears he cracked the Leblon Quartzite we paid a pretty premium for. He says that this is normal for quartzite fissures and that I should not worry about it. He put some penetrating epoxy on it which did not result in any visible change I can see. I can feel the cracks with my fingernails. I'm hoping some professionals out there can comment on this? What do you think? What should I do?

A: Yes that's a fabrication issue. Your fabricator needs to know how to cut Quartzite its a different type of stone that is hard to cut and so you need to know what your doing.

**Q: Farmhouse sink finish** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is this a glossy or matte finish? Curious to know which you chose with the Cafe appliances as I have a similar design.

A: Annette, The painted matte finish looks great in a kitchen as well. I have done the Showplace Matte finish several times and just love the luxury look it gives the kitchen. Every cabinet company offers the satin finish but not all of them offer Matte finish like what Showplace offers! I also 
like that the Matte doesn't reflect other colors in the kitchen which will mess with the over all color of the cabinet.
