## Community Q&A

**Q: Need help with backsplash and countertop edge** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am about to give up on remodeling my 15 year old kitchen. I don't know what I want just what I'd like it to look like when I'm done. I've asked too many opinions and no longer sure what to do. I have white cabinets, wood floor, and WHITE appliances that I want to keep. I have taken down the busy wallpaper with vines and flowers and want to keep it clean, open, and calm. I love the colors in the Uba Tuba granite since its just a darker green that I already have in my laminate. However, picking an edge for the granite, a sink (black composite or stainless steel) and the backsplash are enough decisions to keep me from moving forward on this project. I basically have 3 choices on backsplashes. 1.) do the 4" granite backsplash and paint the rest. It would be similiar to my laminate I have now. 2.) use the Uba Tuba all the way up to the upper cabinets. Im just concerned about price and the darkness that is going to give my kitchen. Its a large kitchen with a LOT of natural light and high ceilings but Im not sure about locking myself into that much dark granite. 3.) option is tiling the backsplash. This seems to be the most common. However, I haven't seen any I really like. Most seem to compete with the countertop and add a lot of additional texture and colors. I also am not a big fan of grout and I want to be able to change colors in the kitchen in curtains, accessories, and wall paint. The countertop and backsplash are going to be there for at least the next 15 years. I have thought about plain white subway tile but my cabinets are a soft white and look dirty next to the bright white subway tile. Please help. I do NOT want stainless steel appliances and have brand new white appliances coming next week. This will give a more seamless look with my cabinets as well.
Any suggestions or pictures of what others have done with Uba Tuba and white cabinets would really help me. I appreciate helping me get back on the right path and finish this project.

A: What about this? But I do like the white subway tiles.

**Q: Looking for backsplash suggestions** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Recently completed a kitchen reno and we are having difficulty deciding on the right solution for the backsplash. The granite counter top is Bianco Romano.

Want something that is easy to clean and subtle. Looking at extending backsplash to ceiling behind vent hood.

A: I love this look:
