> I became aware of Dominic's work through my neighbor. That project was new construction on waterfront property. What impressed me was how well it fit into the neighborhood. The scale was right and it looked like a classic Maine house (with some small out buildings). My wife and I have an antique farmhouse that needed much work but we did not want the original look to be lost. The house is somewhat of a landmark from the water and many have enjoyed the view of the house. It is mostly a summer home that we wanted to stretch into three and a half seasons. Dominic got it very quickly. What impressed me most was how quickly he could come up with solutions to problems. Problems are often encountered during the middle of a major antique house renovation (in case you did not already know). A combination of factors, for example, required us to create a new stairwell. The problem was that we didn't realize this until the middle of the project. Normally, that would have set us back big time. Dominic's design came in quickly and kept the contractors on site. Anyway, we just love the house and are entertaining friends and family through the summer.

> I have worked with Dominic for over 20 years having done 7 projects with him. He is the consummate professional and I have the highest personal regard for him. He is equally adept at renovations as he is with new construction. My last project, a $5,500,000 house over looking the water in Maine was completed on time and within budget. The contractor professed that he had never received such a complete set of working drawings from any architect before. As a client who has spent a career restoring old houses I can say that Dominic is more than willing to listen to others' ideas. I can not recommend him highly enough!

> Can't say enough good about Dominic. He is very creative but listens well and incorporates the client's ideas. He knows building techniques and vendors so provides a full-circle experience. Has done some beautiful work.

> Dominic was engaged to plan a major addition of our home as well as a remodel of the existing house. He did an outstanding job. He was easy to deal with, responded quickly to questions and changes, was always available no matter what time of day or if it was a holiday. Dominic also worked veery well with the contractors, both the general contractor who was responsible of the carpentry as well as the subs (excavation, foundation, structural steel, windows & doors, electrical and plumbing etc.). The completed product is of the highest quality and we are very happy with the result. I am happy to recommend him to anyone.

> After looking at several websites, interviewing three architects, we knew Dominic was the one for us. His professionalism, knowledge and personality make him a pleasure to work with. Dominic took some of our general concepts and personal needs and turned them into something wonderful. He even acted as a marriage councilor by resolving differences of opinion between my husband and me that satisfied us both! He was right on target with our budget and met all his schedules.Dominic's attention to detail has impressed all those who visit us. He is as talented in interior design as he is with architecture. Thank you Dominic for creating our dream home!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Where is that rug from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello,
I love that rug. Where is it from?
Thank you,
Matt

A: Antique Persian carpets are from the client’s private collection.

**Q: what are the kitchen cabinets made of?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What are the kitchen cabinets made of?

A: Maple, a blend of figured (birds eye, tiger) and some quarter sawn. Water based urethane finish.

**Q: Original Barn?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am curious to know if the barn was converted to living space or constructed specifically for this purpose.

A: Sorry about the auto-correct "Barn" volume not "barb"

**Q: Love the richness of the wood stain, do you know what was used?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The wood is vertical grain Douglas Fir with a clear, matte water base urethane. No color (stain) was applied.

**Q: Love the chandelier!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Who is the manufacturer?

A: Hamm Studios, Whittier California. John Hamm was the artist.

**Q: Hello, could you please tell me the color of walls?** *(in Photo Questions)*

We live on a lake in Maine and have the pine ceilings and on some walls. Our entryway and mud room is painted Benjamin Moore eucalyptus leaf and open kitchen living room is rosemary sprig..we are looking to lighten the area and loved the pictures you have posted. There is not a home that you have designed that has not been on my favorite list, they are beautiful..
Thank you very much.

A: I have searched my files and do not have a record of the wall color used - I have asked the owner and painter but have not heard back. It is a Benjamin Moore color. I recall looking at devon cream (OC-102), antique lace (OC-104) and calming cream (OC-105) but in the end I think we went with something different. These might be a good place to start - the wood is vertical grain Douglas Fir which will have a very different color and feeling from Pine. I would never advise selecting a color from a photograph - you should look at some large samples (24" square) on a couple of walls in the room that you plan to paint. remember that your eye sees and adjusts color relative to the surrounding colors. Hope that helps.
