Now I’m unsure if I should keep things as they are (walls and vanity same color, vanity top is white marble) or if I should repaint in white or a darker grey (my tile is mostly white with greyish veins) ? can I keep it as is or should I repaint? Im hoping I can avoid repainting, I’m on a budget so I’m doing the painting myself so I’m not looking forward to repaint! it is a small bathroom so I’m leaning towards either keeping things as they are or repainting white!?! Yes do change the paint but if you go a darker grey is OK but how big is the room? The darker the paint the smaller the room appears. Help all of us and add a photo. Ken **Q: pale gray-blue wall color with travertine floor?** *(in Home Decorating)* I had an interior designer come today for a consultation. I asked for a paint color suggestion for our entryway and hallway leading away from it. Entryway has a charcoal and orangeish brown slate floor, and the hallway and most of the main level has beige travertine, some of which seems to have pink undertones and some has orange. The designer suggested SW Rock Candy, which is a very pale gray-blue that is considered a neutral. She said I'd want something to downplay the orange/yellow in the travertine ( I think she said the travertine has yellow undertones, but to me it reads mostly slightly pink, with some of it more orangey), and she thought the Rock chip would be a good choice because I like blue and have been using navy as an accent color in a few areas. Now I like blue, and I like gray, but I'm not at all sure a cool gray-blue paint color will go well with the travertine...but she's the expert, not me. Here a photo of the entryway and hallway for reference. A: Not really as you have 2 different flooring in the entryway. Travertine Is a hard one to match as everyone sees a different color tone in it. Color wise not sure here as you have allot of colors here in the area. Do you want to enhance the tile or railing, or the darker color tile by door? I would not go the blueish color, maybe a more tannish light color? Ken **Q: Popcorn or flat or knock down ceiling?** *(in Paint)* I am remodeling a kitchen in a 1994 built home. I have popcorn ceilings throughout the house. I am considering painting the kitchen popcorn or scraping it to flat. Or should it be knockdown? Looking for opinions. Any opinions? A: Yes go flat type, Popcorn is easy to take off, you need to spray it with water and scrap. Also some popcorn spray at that time is asbestos filled, yes you could get away with it but will hurt you in health way bad for you. Money cost, check if it is. But do take it off. Ken **Q: Wiring Advice Help- Chandelier** *(in Electrical Wiring)* hello! We purchase a chandelier and I had an electrician come out today and was told that the plate we have in the ceiling is “Fan Rated”, and therefore the chandelier won’t work unless we opened up the ceiling in order to make bigger plates (?). He said we would have to find a fixture that can be hung on a fan rated ceiling plate for it to work without opening up the ceiling. I googled and I’m finding no info on this. Is this such a thing?? I was so excited about my chandelier and now I’m so bummed! photo of chandelier attached. TIA! A: Iffy, That chandelier don't look that heavy, plus the pancake box would be easy to change IF needed. Yes ask your electrical guy this and don't let him over power you! Ken **Q: Need Decor Help for Chiropractic Office** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi! Need to put some wall art up and am stuck with what types to use to make it flow. A: At first look, PAINT a lighter color. I really like your reception counter and flooring!! A lighter color of paint would more enhance both features!!! Ken **Q: bathroom floor dilemma** *(in Flooring)* We are updating our guest bathroom. We are trying to really pinch pennies on this. There was a double sink vanity against the wall. The measurement of the wall is 58". They somehow put a smaller vanity in and used a space filler. We were unable to find a replacement vanity of the correct size/with or with out filler so we purchased 2 24" inch vanities to stand freely So there will be space between the wall each sink and the other wall. Problem happened when we removed the original vanity to find only one side was tiled. Unfortunately, we only have about 6 tiles from the original owners and it was done in the 90's so not much luck finding replacements. FYI they are 4.25 x 4.25. As you can see most of the floor will be covered by the vanities but it is even open by the toe kick. We don't have the budget to re-tile the whole bathroom so we are looking for alternatives that don't scream we just patched this. I am including several pictures. If anyone has gone through this and came away with a brilliant solution I am all ears. Thanks! A: Do a vanity like Design Girl has here and the space would look nice with the gaps from vanity to wall. If you do want 1 sink you can cap the other drain. Or think about it and have a custom vanity built for 2 sinks there as you did mention that the home is for resale. (flip house) If you go with the full vanity there is a much higher value in the end part. (Profit) 2 cabinets are a hack quick set up and clients buyers will see this and offer less then you are asking.
