However, from design to completion Mark and his team made this process very straightforward and were a pleasure to work with. It was very rare that they came to us with a problem they ran into as they would just look after it. They were very honest and stuck to their original quotes unless we upgraded something along the way. After we moved in we have had countless neighbours and people stop in and ask us where we found these contractors, who were so hard working (working from morning to dark), did not disrupt the neighbourhood, kept the work-site looking so clean, and comment on how much they love the design of the house and the timbers. We have not had any major issues with the home since completion. A: Hello, For this project we only supplied the timbers, but i'm thinking it could easily be a maibec siding. It was a wood siding, so maibec or fraser would be my thoughts! Let us know if we can help more thanks **Q: Backyard Dilemma!!** *(in Polls)* We have a sidewalk which runs through the middle of our backyard and leads to nothing. Our dilemma is what to do with it?? We are trying to essentially remove the sidewalk so that the grass is continuous from one side to the other, but are also concerned with cost. I know drainage is a big issues, but the sidewalk funnels water directly towards the house. So removing the sidewalk would actually be a benefit in that area. We really do not want to leave it because there is not really room to build a feature at the end. Some options we have thought about are: 1\. jackhammer it out, refill dirt, and lay sod 2\. add dirt over the sidewalk and then lay sod (main concern with this is because we are in Texas the grass might die from the heat the sidewalk causes from being underneath) 3\. We are open to ideas!! The picture below is the only one I have and is the original listing photo, I will try to upload some better pictures! A: when jack hammering out the side walk, you might be smart to put a drain it at the house and then slope it away if that is possible...Just a thought, but it seems like you will like it the best with it out completely **Q: Help - honey oak threw up in my kitchen.** *(in Home Decorating)* We recently bought a house and I hate the honey oak cabinets. We got the light box removed, which has helped a ton. However, I’m still not sold on the cabinets. I‘ve debated having them painted grey, but feel like it’s a lot of money for something that won’t completely satisfy me. I’m now thinking if I replace the stove hood and maybe pull the cabinets down that are directly over the sink? HELP! A: It might be possible to paint those white, and only have the cabinets that are under the counter top be a different colour....i don't have the complete layout of your kitchen but it is an option that might work for you! **Q: Professional Advice Regarding Kitchen Island** *(in Polls)* We will have a 10'6" x 5'10" kitchen island. can we manage to seat 6 people on the 10'6" side? We do have the option to open up a side to have a over hang as well for additional seating but prefer not to do this. Please share your professional advice. A: I recommed opening up the side, if your first priority is having a fun time around the island and then it will be good to bring the seating space around the side.
