Our process gives you a fixed project price based on a drawings and design of your exact project, just as you want it. We offer a free initial consultation to discuss your project and meet the owner. If you choose to move forward to the design and estimate stage, a design agreement with a modest fee starts the process. If you build the project with us the fee is applied to the cost of the project. During this step the project is measured and designed on our CAD software, giving you 3D images to envision how your project will look. Changes to these early drawings allow you to see different possibilities so you can be sure the drawings represent exactly what you want. Then the project is priced to the drawings for an accurate project price. At this time the project is still able to be tweaked to make changes. When project drawings, scope and pricing are finalized, a construction contract is signed and the construction process begins. Our interior designer assists with selections, the project plan is set and work begins. We oversee all the details to make sure the project runs smoothly and keep in close contact with you regarding progress and any concerns. Upon completion, the project is professionally cleaned.

We love what we do and look forward to meeting you!

> I highly recommend and 2 thumbs up for this team! Mary and Mark are a very solid team that can be relied on and trusted to do the right thing and deliver great results. My project was a full kitchen renovation, new flooring, baseboard trim on 2 levels and a powder room refresh. Mark is a hands-on problem solver and incredibly hard worker. Mark has a great sense of humor and common sense to keep things moving. He ensured the project timeline stayed on track and often stayed very late some days to ensure that things were ready for the next subcontractor. Mary is great to work with and guided me in the selection of appliances, wall colors, countertops, lighting, hardware and flooring options and colors. Mary also helped hang all of my artwork at the end of the project and was a great resource for furniture placement. I hope to be able to work with them again soon!

**★★★★★ — Andrea J, May 2025**

> Mark and Mary are an amazing team. I have worked with them on several projects over the years, including a deck/patio update, full interior remodel and garage remodel. There is not a room in my home that they have not helped me update and I could not be happier with the results. My home truly feels like mine! With both contracting and design expertise, Mark and Mary made these projects simple - they listen, are very experienced, and work with reliable sub-contractors and vendors. Everything was covered - from the planning/design, selection of materials, to professional clean-up at the end. Mary was extremely helpful with guiding the selection of materials - flooring, countertops, paint, etc. - and even helped with furniture placement and hanging art as a courtesy! Given the extent of the work done, there were some minor issues, but all were resolved quickly and satisfactorily as Mark is a great problem solver. Mark and Mary provide high quality work at a fair price and I would absolutely hire them again.

**★★★★★ — Nancy Manderfeld, May 2025**

> mackmiller design+build previously did two huge projects for us, (total kitchen and bathroom remodel) so, when we moved last fall and needed a full bathroom remodel, there was no question on who we would engage. Mary and Mark are consummate professionals with a keen eye for creative solutions and design. Mary's interior design expertise and Mark's craftmanship resulted in another perfect project. We are so happy with the results!
>
> Mary makes it easy. She gets an idea of what you want and then provides several choices (usually 3) which makes it so easy for the homeowner. Every project has challenges and Mark, in all three projects, came through with ideas and solutions. The materials they use are high quality at a fair price.
>
> The majority of our project was done when we were out of state. We were consistently updated with photos and phone calls. We came home to an absolutely beautiful bathroom with total shower remodel. We could not be happier. Fun fact: They put in sink faucets that have a sprayer so you can rinse out the sink! Love that!
>
> Mary also helped us with the selection of a breakfast bar color that complemented the countertops and flooring perfectly!

**Comment from mackmiller design+build:**

> Nancy, thank you so much for your 5-star review. Your kind words mean a lot to us. We are thrilled to hear you are enjoying your new bathroom. It was our privilege to complete your project.

**★★★★★ — Kate V, Jan. 2025**

> This team came highly recommended and from the start it was clear why! Mark and Mary each listened carefully to our needs and offered lay-out and design solutions that are now the very things we point to as our favorite parts of our remodel! Mary has such a terrific eye for color and design. Mark puts tremendous care into every detail. We are so pleased with our bathroom renovations. Top-notch subs, from tiling to electrical to plumbing. Gorgeous work. Highly, highly recommended!

**Comment from mackmiller design+build:**

> Kate, thank you for sharing your thoughts about your experience working with our company. We are happy to hear you are pleased with your two bathroom renovations. Enjoy your bright new spaces!

**★★★★★ — Mark Powell, Jan. 2024**

> Another successful project with mackmiller design+build! I'm happy with the product, the workers, and especially with Mark and Mary Mackmiller.
> We needed to replace our cedar deck. Mark came over and walked me through all the options to help me make a decision. Mary helped me with the color choice. The quality of the materials and the work was excellent. Mark communicated about progress and a few material delays. At the end Mark took extra time to clean up the worksite.
> We have worked with mackmiller design+build on several projects over the last 10 years. I recommend them without reservation. It's great to have someone you can trust to do the right thing.

**★★★★★ — Dane C, Jan. 2024**

> We had the pleasure of working with mackmiller design+build for our kitchen remodel in addition to replacing a fireplace surround and some trim replacement. Mark and Mary are wonderful to work with. They respected our house like it was their own. They are both very hands on. Mark is onsite and doing much of the work himself or in direct conjunction with the subs who they clearly have long established relationships with. Mark was very willing to add on a couple "side" jobs that were in need of attention in our home but not necessarily in the scope of the remodel. These were projects we did not have the know-how/skill set to do, and we really appreciated his willingness to include these smaller "side" jobs within the project. Mary excels in design and took the time to truly understand and implement our vision. She was patient and accompanied us throughout the selection process whether it was visiting local vendors or reviewing items online. Upon completion the home was left cleaner than they found it. An exceptional overall experience. We would hire mackmiller design+build for any future projects and recommend them without reservation.

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Robinson, Feb. 2023**

> We recently completed a remodel of our entire home with mackmiller design+build after meeting Mark & Mary on the 2020 Luxury Home Tour. It was worth the money. The mackmiller's listened to discover desired outcomes and then delivered results exceeding expectations at a fair price. It was a positive experience from meticulous job site preparation through to professional cleaning upon completion of the project. The mackmiller's partner with high caliber contractors who despite the pandemic adhered to the schedule and reliably completed their work. We would highly recommend mackmiller design+build for their consultative interior design and construction management services.

**★★★★★ — Jeanette Thomas, Dec. 2022**

> When a broken built-in microwave prompted an unplanned kitchen remodel, we didn't hesitate to call Mark and Mary again. Mary met patiently with us to find the perfect granite slab to replace the island that was functional, but never our favorite. They respect our desire to reuse and recycle what we can--they found a team that could remove and use the old granite--and to suit our style rather than the latest trends. Our family loves to cook, relax and entertain in our new space.
> Mark was thoughtful and practical in his recommendations for new rollouts in the cabinets, an induction cooktop, and extending the island to improve conversation.
> They remembered our preferences from our bathroom remodel a few years ago, and are part of our community. You cannot replicate that personal touch.
> Mackmiller design was flexible with pandemic issues such as supply chain and safety without compromising the project. I trust them and their team, and we will definitely contact them for our next remodel or refresh, large or small.

**★★★★★ — maggiebecker, June 2022**

> After seeing the transformation of my sister’s kitchen and dining room by Mackmiller Design and Build, I knew they would be just the ones to work their magic on my bathroom remodel. I consulted with both Mark and Mary for their unique perspective on color and design. The final outcome was what I had hoped for and more. They were both great to work with.
>
> I would use them again and have recommended them to others who are looking for quality workmanship at a fair price.

> We recently completed our second major project with MacMiller Design and are delighted with the results. The “Design” in MacMiller Design is important to us as is their flexibility to adapt as a plan takes shape and inevitable changes arise. Our project involved making our kitchen more of a part of the living area than it had been when the house was built. This meant changing walls, repositioning lights, moving appliances and harmonizing the whole area with new wood flooring. All of this was done despite a challenging architecture that had many odd angles and several obsolete storage areas. Countertops and a large eating area were done in a unique quartzite that we had discovered in an earlier MacMiller bathroom project. That bathroom, which won several awards for the MacMillers in 2019, still creates a wonderful feeling of warmth and permanence every time we use it. With the MacMillers you get complete project management along with suggestions and contacts that can help with everything from reupholstering to unique glass art wall designs. We are already looking forward to a third project to challenge their skills in the near future!

**Comment from mackmiller design+build:**

> We appreciate your detailed and descriptive review. Your home is so beautiful and Mark and I enjoyed making it more functional and updating the finishes that better reflect your current taste. We look forward to working with you on your next project!

**★★★★★ — Gary Gehlen, April 2022**

> "Working with Mackmiller Design and Build has been a great! We have partnered with them on multiple flooring projects from installing hardwood to replacing carpet, and more. Their team consistently delivers outstanding service, professional communication, and quality craftsmanship. Mary the owner is a brilliant designer and always comes up with creative solutions! It’s so nice working with a company that shares a dedication to our customer’s happiness.

> We had a wonderful experience with Mackmiller Design+Build on the remodel of our primary bathroom, family room remodel, kitchen backsplash and entire house refresh. The project touched almost every room in the house, with some unique challenges in the primary bathroom remodel. From our initial meeting through the project completion, Mark and Mary consistently demonstrated their dedication to ensuring that they would deliver on our vision. Between Mark's wide range of skills and passion for his work, to Mary's highly tuned design sense, they make a fantastic team. As can be expected with any project, issues did come up and Mark was able to get them addressed, quickly and fairly We couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product and thoroughly enjoyed working with Mark and Mary. They were on top of it throughout the project and very communicative. The entire project was complete on the projected deadline. After the project was completed, Mary remained engaged to assist in choosing new artwork and accessories to coordinate with remodel. Not only was it great to be able to leverage her design skills, but she did that extra work as a professional courtesy. Overall, we were pleased with our remodeling experience. We learned of Mackmiller through a referral and would recommend them to friends, family, or anybody else that is looking for a dependable, trustworthy, customer centric design+build firm.

## Community Q&A

**Q: interested in the paint color and if that is a lime wash?** *(in Photo Questions)*

keithcarney@aol.com

A: Hi Keith,

Thanks for your interest in our work. This is a ventian plaster. The brand is Marmorino.

Regards,

Mark

**Q: Knobs on pull-out trash cabinets** *(in Photo Questions)*

Have you had any problem with the knobs (rather than pulls) on your pull-out trash cabinet?

A: No. I am less inclined to use pulls on the side of the trash pullouts. The grip seems a bit unnatural. You may have a concern about the unequal pull on the rollouts. It's been about 10 years and the rollouts are working fine.
One key for long service is to use high quality, high load capacity glides. Be sure they are parallel and glide easily. Lubricate the tracks occasionally. This homeowner wanted the knobs in the same place as the door knobs.
We have centered knobs on the top rail and have done the same with pulls. Customers have a variety of tastes.
Thanks for the question and good luck on your project.

**Q: hello there! trash can drawers !!** *(in Photo Questions)*

I really like the trash can solution for under the sink.
What do I need to buy to recreate this?
I have the 2 outer cupboard doors.
A million thanks,
Reineanderson@att.net

A: Hi Reine,

Basically you need 4 heavy duty undermount glides, 2 rollout boxes preferably higher in the front than back and sides to stabilize your door to the rollout, some 1/2 boards to secure your waste container and partition off areas behind it to prevent items behind the waste container from hitting disposal and plumbing. and some miscellaneous boards to secure your glides to the base cabinet

Depending on your skills and patience, hiring a cabinetmaker to do this for you is probably the best bet. You will still have some trimming and fitting of the inter partitions and maybe the back of the rollout to make it fit past your plumbing and disposal. Depending on your cabinet style the alignment of the doors can be tricky.

This set up works best when the sink baskets are located towards the back of the sink and your disposal diameter is small (1/2 horse disposals with no insulation work the best).

There are also some off the shelf solutions that attach to the hinged door. One I like by Rev-A-Shelf is their IN-BIN \#R-INBIN-306 that uses plastic supermarket bags. It isn't so fussy about depth to the plumbing and disposal. It is a much simpler, cheaper and just as effective of a trash solution.

I hope that helps.

**Q: Cabinet glaze** *(in Photo Questions)*

How well does the cabinet glaze hold up? Our designer is telling us she has heard it doesn't hold up well over time.

A: Glazes can be problematic if not applied correctly. Our finishers always apply a clearcoat over the entire surface to protect the glaze.

**Q: How did you use the corner space?** *(in Photo Questions)*

We have same corner in our countertop, with the sink close to the corner, like in this picture.
I wonder if: 1 . trash can would fit under the sink; 2. how to use the storage in the corner space under the countertop?

A: Hi Cecilia,

My custom cabinetmaker made them for me. They work best if sink baskets are located to the back of the sink and you use a small disposal like a 1/2 horse. This allows the biggest waste container. Otherwise you have a much smaller waste container in front of the disposal side.
It's a great way to use the space and gain some premium base cabinet space that would have gone to other base cabinet trash options.

Best of luck.

Mark
