So I'm planning on havin a stamped concrete etc patio . And landscaping. But I need ideas for hiding hat awful blue door that goes into our basement. It's so ugly .. Any suggestions?? A: I also think a Med size hedge on each side would hide it well. I like the idea of painting it and putting decorative handles on it. Boxwood, Yew or even upright Japanese Holly would be nice narrow plants to put along it. **Q: Need help with small backyard** *(in Design Dilemma)* Small 20x20' backyard looking for landscaping ideas. We just had the pergola put in and want to add pavers or similar. Want to keep the beds tropical but low maintenance. Also should we do pavers in all areas not flower bed or another material options for outside the pergola? A: With an area that small, I think putting pavers through out would keep it clean, simple and low maintenance. Then add container gardens, rather than garden beds. Choose 1 style or color of containers in various sizes to keep the look consistent. Grow vines on the pergola and use tall narrow plants like bamboo or ornamental grasses in narrow pots along the fence.
