We read on the site what their definition of "custom" was, and no kidding it was really CUSTOM !! We had the freedom to pick the wood, the size, the finish, the color and even the level of "rusticness" (knots, holes) that we wanted. I sent them a picture of my table and honestly relied on their judgment for the rest. I'm a novice about wood and stain and how it will all look in the end, so this was a little intimidating. After no less than 20 emails from me asking questions and "what if's," these folks nailed it. Without question, these are the most patient people in the world!! They sent me a sample and showed me how the finish would look and we could not wait for the piece to come . My advice is, if you aren't sure what you are doing, trust them to make the call for you!! In the end, the price of the bench was less than so many that we saw in the stores that didn't even have a back. The shipping was a little pricey, but if you saw how it came packed you would agree it was worth it. You can't have a custom made piece come to you in pieces..their shipping vendor had it so secure that it could have gone overseas in that crate and would have been fine!! If you're on the fence about going in this direction don't be. This piece is a show stopper!!! The workmanship is outstanding, and they don't come more talented than these craftsman!!
