## Reviews

**Overall rating: 4.6 out of 5 — 10 reviews**

### All 10 reviews

**★★★★★ — Charlie Vantine, Dec. 2016**

> Phil is a true professional that has excellent vision and we have enjoyed working with him. The project design is fabulous.

**★ — lynnlbs1982, Sept. 2016**

> Design great. Honest not really about cost and full circle design he promotes.
>
> Dont trust this. Be careful Architect Is only good if there is enough money to complete
> Phils design is his desire. Never asks about budget. Will spend without research of other option to help the builder. Will leave holding big debt and no support for inadequate sub contractors from full circle design.

**Comment from Studio Durham Architects:**

> Lynn, I ask you to remember that the scope of work for the project, and the many change orders were all based on decisions that you made. You were very proud of the completed project and enjoyed the fact that it was published and won several awards. I am sorry you regret the investment now. I enjoyed working with you on it.

**★★★★★ — Centro Modern Furnishings, June 2016**

> Centro hired Studio Durham to design our first showroom in 1998, and one of the owners subsequently hired the studio for a condo gut-rehab in 2000 and a new condo white-box build-out completed in 2009. Additionally, Studio Durham regularly specifies products from Centro's roster of international manufacturers for his residential and commercial projects. Always timely with documents, always creative with solutions, and always professional in interactions, Phil and his staff have become one of the top firms in the St. Louis region for refined, modern architecture.

**Comment from Studio Durham Architects:**

> Thank you Todd, our projects would not be nearly as successful without having Centro Modern Furnishings as a resource.

**★★★★★ — Devon Fischer, March 2016**

> Studio Durhan Architects has been amazing!
> Phil has been especially attentive on our 7 year long project and has always strived to make sure we are not only happy, but informed as well. They are very professional, creative and insightful but with a personal touch. I recommend them whenever I get the chance.

**Comment from Studio Durham Architects:**

> Devon, thank you so much for your kind words. You two were and are great clients.

**★★★★★ — Full Circle Design Works, Inc, June 2015**

> We are a general contractor specializing in contemporary residential projects. We have completed many projects with Studio Durham Architects over the past 15 years. Studio Durham brings a great design sense to a project and the ability to work well with both the clients and the other professionals. Their drawing sets are the most complete and detailed of any architect we have worked with. This allows us to bid the project accurately and helps eliminate change orders and delays in the construction process. Once construction is underway Studio Durham remains engaged to work with both the clients and the contractor to ensure a great finished project. We would highly recommend Studio Durham Architects.

**Comment from Studio Durham Architects:**

> Thank you for the review Full Circle guys, I appreciate it.

**★★★★★ — Ted Wight- Dielmann Sotheby's International Realty, June 2015**

> Philip Durham is an excellent architect. He is the "go-to" architect in St. Louis for contemporary architecture. I have several clients who have used his services and been thrilled.

**Comment from Studio Durham Architects:**

> Thank you Ted, you are the best. Let's find something to work together on soon.

**★★★★★ — Vicki Singer, May 2015**

> Phil Durham perfectly executed our vision of blending our traditional home with our modern kitchen and family room addition. With beautiful finishes of walnut, limestone, and stainless steel, we have a living space that is timeless and we enjoy every day. I have given Phil and Studio Durham's name to friends and their spaces are as magnificent as ours! I recommend Studio Durham without reservation.

**Comment from Studio Durham Architects:**

> Thank you for the kind words Vicki, you were great clients and fun to work with.

**★★★★★ — decorating42, April 2015**

> My husband and I have used Phil Durham and his firm for 2 projects in the past several years. We hired "an architect" to discuss some improvements to our out-dated home and wound up so thrilled with Phil Durham's ideas that we wound up totally remodeling our whole home inside and out. He made us feel as if he gave every single moment of the day thinking about our project! Of course he did not, but it certainly felt that way. He was always available to answer every question and solve any and every problem, big or small. Our home is spectacular and we love every moment we are able to spend in it. When it came time to design and build a new office space there was no question as to who we would hire. Only this time we left every decision completely up to Phil and the results are, once again ... "perfect". This project came in on budget and on time. My husband and I would recommend Phil and his firm for any project -- big or small -- modern or traditional! His talent is a true gift to everyone who hires him.
>
> Thank you Phil for your talent and insight and dedication to our projects.

**Comment from Studio Durham Architects:**

> Thank you both for both being great clients and your friendship. You know how I feel about both of you.

**★★★★★ — yeniley, April 2015**

> At the recommendation of another architect, we have used Studio Durham on a full home renovation in St Louis and 2 major remodeling projects in New York. Our only regret is not being in a situation to build a new house from scratch with Phil Durham. He is highly organized, and has an uncanny memory of meeting details in his follow up notes. He insists on perfection from the drawings of his own team and the work of General contractors and their subs, and is both direct and respectful in his communication. Once Phil understood our style and preferences he was always able to bring 3-4 great materials and design choices which reduced the potential to overwhelm the client. Anyone looking for a confirmatory reference can contact us via Phil Durham.

**Comment from Studio Durham Architects:**

> Yeniley, thank you for your kind words, it has been a pleasure working with the two of you over the last few years. We miss you in St. Louis.

**★★★★★ — Josh Gidcumb, Nov. 2013**

> Phillip Durham is truly a pioneer in architectural design. He has built his firm around the principle of exceeding client expectations throughout the design process. In addition to Phillip's array of credentials and expertise, his firm is power-packed with a professional team of designers whose vision and approach to modern/contemporary design is simply unparalleled in the industry. I would HIGHLY recommend Studio Durham as an elite architectural design firm to take on any design or renovation project.

## Community Q&A

**Q: gorgeous room and rug!** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love how you made all the clean lines sing! Kudos! Would you please share the make and model of the rug? It really highlights your excellent work. Thanks in advance.

A: In this case I can't help you, the clients who built the house left to return to San Francisco a few months. The furnishings are all from whatever staging company the real estate people hired.

**Q: Floating cabinet** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello, do you happen to recall how high the floating cabinets are from the floor? Thank you.

A: It was one foot two inches.

**Q: Love the chandelier. Where can it be purchased?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The fixture is by a company called BOCCI and the name is 'Round 14.26'. I think it is available on line at YLighting. We have a store here in St. Louis you can buy it through and most large cities have some sort of modern furnishings store that would take and order. They are all custom configured.

**Q: Blue tree** *(in Photo Questions)*

What's the name of the blue tree?

A: It is a Japanese Blue Spruce.

**Q: Floor Material** *(in Photo Questions)*

Was the floor hardwood or something else? What color finish?

A: The floor is 5" wide hickory planks in a natural finish. Hickory is so dense it does not take stain well.

**Q: Hello, how did you finish the top and vertical edges of backsplash?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: It's our standard eased edge that is just polished to match the face finish of the slab.
