> I would highly suggest choosing a different company. I am surprised by the good reviews, but notice they are from several years ago. My experience with Maplestone was a total lack of organization and disregard for the schedule as specified on the contract. We did a large 3-story addition, which was scheduled to take 5 months. Work began in May and the occupancy permit was not obtained until February (although the space was mostly useable by mid-December). Weeks went by with no work being done, even in good weather. The owner takes on too many projects at once, fails to order materials in advance and constantly changes sub-contractors mid-job, leading to huge chunks of time being lost due to re-scheduling different sub-contractors and waiting for materials. The owner would make appointments and not show up, but then randomly show up at other times unannounced. On the plus side, the finished addition does look great and the project stayed right on budget, but the nightmare it took to get here could have been avoided by using a different contractor. I looked here for reviews beforehand, and wish someone would have saved me from choosing Maplestone.

> Maplestone completed a huge renovation of our house in 2006-2007. We added over 1500 square feet to our 2500 foot home. The renovation included: tearing out walls and ceilings, adding a bathroom, adding one bedroom and renovating two other ones, adding a playroom, completely changing the style of our exterior, wiring for electricity, plumbing, painting, and landscaping. Maplestone did a fantastic job for us. Steve was receptive to changes in the project as we went along and came in under budget. We have continued our relationship with Maplestone whenever repairs need to be made. Steve and his guys are the very best. We had never met him until we hired him, but now we consider him a friend.

> I contracted with Maplestone to build a sun room addition onto my house. The many steps - the interview to understand my goals; the itemized cost of the project and the contract; the evaluation and recommendation regarding the heating and air conditioning; the landscaping issues; and the actual construction of the room - were all done very professionally.
>
> The builders were knowledgeable, skilled, dependable and attentive to every detail. The other contractors (electrical, flooring, drywall, masonry, roofing, HVAC, etc.) seemed to have been well chosen. Each person was responsive to my inquiries and concerns.
>
> In spite of extremely wet weather and the holiday season, the project was completed in a reasonable time. The estimate was competitive and the final cost justifiable.

> We remodeled our kitchen and added a master bedroom and bathroom to our 1920's home. It was a big job and Steve did a fabulous job keeping everything running smoothly. He is a very reliable person concerned about quality craftmanship and his client's satisfaction.

## Community Q&A

**Q: We don't own it. We lease** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have several events in the church hall. I am embarrassed by the way it looks. We are not the owners. But I want it to look presentable.

A: Everything is one color. I would paint the ceiling an white and paint the duct work and beams another color like off white. It will give the ceiling a coffered look as feel taller. Paint the walls a very light gray or light green. Get rid of the window curtains and install a paper shade you can open from the bottom or the top but when the shade is full it will give you dispersed light. Painter the risers on the steps another color other than the same color at the tread to give he stairs some dimension and make it easier to use. Last swap out the old lights on the ceiling for LEDs. The place needs to feel like a place to relax and reflect not a dungeon from the inquisition. Then put up some paintings or art work with a theme. That will help with the echo. Good luck. Very easy to do and not expensive.

**Q: Teppich** *(in Photo Questions)*

Wo bekommt man einen solchen Teppich (vor der Badewanne)?

A: Thanks to Google translator - I believe you asked where we got the rug. It was hand made by a local artisan - the owner is a collector. Thank you for your interest!

**Q: What type of rug?! And how does it look so far?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Redecorating our family room and have this new furniture with some new decorations. Still waiting on our tables. Would a rug work? Trying to maintain an open concept feeling!! Thanks for you advice!

A: You need more can lights on a dimmer. That room is really dark.

**Q: Bedspread** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you tell me where the bedspread was purchased? Thank you.

A: The client purchased the bedspread for this home so, sorry, we do not have that information.

**Q: Lighting?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love this chandelier, where is it from?

A: Sorry, the client bought the chandelier so we do not have that information available.

**Q: What is the backsplash in the niche area?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the backsplash in the niche area?

A: Thanks for your interest. We used the Coastline Mosaic (Riverwash color) from the
17 - Atlas Collection by Jeffrey Court for the niche and the 3" x 6" Field Tile from same collection for the rest of the backsplash. See Tile on Jeffrey Court website
