It was a challenging yard, as the back yard was partially over the garage roof, but we still wanted planters and greenery on the roof. She created an integrated design that respected the modern design of the house, while creating a unique, elegant welcoming space where we could relax and entertain. We also didn't want any right angles in the design, only curves. However, the space just didn't seem finished, and there were areas that were not clean looking and were awkward to mow and maintain. All the existing features had to be taking into consideration in the design, and Katherine did an excellent job of incorporating the new features. The end result is a space that is exceptionally integrated, looks seamless, and is easy to maintain. As the entire design is a very large project, I decided to execute it in phases. One of the larger phases was the pergola over an existing platform deck. I knew exactly what I wanted, and Katherine designed it so that my vision became a beautiful reality. The other component that was completed was a dog kennel, stone path from the kennel to the rear yard, and modification to the area behind the garage (south facing, grass always dried up, and extremely awkward to get in there with a mower and keep tidy looking).
