Paul (co owner) listened carefully to our ideas, pointed out the pros and cons of all options and answered all our questions and addressed our concerns, He even worked with our landscape architect to ensure the water feature blended in with the new landscaping. He even purchased the boulders from the same place as the landscapers did so everything would match. His crew worked well with the landscaping crew. We have an all natural, no concrete, organic pond and waterfalls. He and Barbie(co owner) always promptly answered our emails. When the pond was complete, he came out to the house to inspect it, brought water plants, mosquito fish and a jar of sting algae buster and beneficial bacteria. The company does not forget you. We receive monthly emails with interesting information specifically about our Phoenix pond. The company has a free seminar in February teaching you how to clean your water feature. I LOVED the crew, they made the work area cleaner when they left, than it was when they got there, (doing a total yard remodel). I initially received an email stating I have an appointment on a Monday and the window of time is from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. I took a day off on that day and no one showed up. I called at around 3 pm and was told there was an error in scheduling the appointment. The owner apologized but no compensation given, and I lost one day of work for nothing. I had it rescheduled the following week. Two men came in the morning, very respectful, very helpful but the main problem that I had on my pond, which was the leak, did not get fixed. Yet I was charged over $500 for the maintenance fee. My fault is that I wasn't careful to see that the man-hours on the contract is for each person so it was like about $190 per hour. They did a GREAT job cleaning it but I still have the leak problem where the water drops like 3 to 4 inches everyday. It's so painful that I have to refill the water every other day. Hopefully, I can fix this myself as I can't afford to pay another $500 or more. This is a good lesson learned for me and I hope those who read this will understand my dilemma and can make sure they know what they will be paying for a two hour job. **Comment from The Pond Gnome:** > We were hired to clean this pond and to repair leaks if possible during the visit. We did not build the pond, and had never seen it prior to this date. As there are literally hundreds of ways to build a pond, we can't possibly be prepared to fix everything we come across right on the spot. The pond was cleaned, the system was checked over, but we did not have the parts for that particular pond on the truck at the time. An estimate of 2-4 hours for the repair was given. > > The cleaning contract specifically states that we charge per man hour, with a one-hour crew minimum for 2-3 men. How many men show up to do the cleaning depends on the size of the job at hand. We feel this is the fairest way to charge, or we would have to charge for the full 3-man crew, no matter what, just in case. We do our best to explain the charges in advance to avoid confusion of this nature. A verbal conversation was had with he and his wife before they signed up for the cleaning, wherein the charges were also explained in detail. In this case, two men spent 2.75 hours, for a total of 5.5 man hours, cleaning the pond and checking out a system that was completely unfamiliar to us to see how we could help. > > There was absolutely an error in sending the first email notification, and that was completely our fault. The wrong template was used: a one-day notice was sent out instead of a one-week notice. When he called that day, he did say that he had taken that day off work because he was sick, as well. We apologized profusely and repeatedly, but there was no way we could get the crew from the other side of town over to his place that same day, and we could not promise that same day what we would do to make up for the mistake as we had never seen the pond before and did not know what we would run into. We did add aquatic plants and driftwood accents to the pond at no cost to try to make up for the error. Fortunately, this type of thing does not happen often, but we are only human. > > We regret deeply that anyone had an unpleasant experience with The Pond Gnome. We wanted a fountain that did not have an above ground pond around it becouse we have Desert Tortises that we did not want ot get in and possible drown. Designs were brough in and we choose what we wanted. The job was done withn the graden we had so no demilishin or construction was done. The fountain has a light that comes on at night and illuminates the top of the vase of the fountain, (the fountion is a rock vase) it is very tranquile with the sound of the water and at night the light gives a romantic glow. The hummingbireds and song bires use the fountain to bath in and drink from. I have will will continue to recomend the Pond Gnome to anyone wanted a pond or fountain.
