**★★★★★ — Matt Crowley, Sept. 2025**

> We hired Clark to build a cabin up in Fairplay after meeting with a dozen different builders. Clark is the real deal. Not only did he finish building our house on time; building through the winter and dealing with the property being at 11,000ft, but he delivered it on a level of detail and precision that we couldn’t have imagined.
>
> Our designs asked a lot of Clark and the various trades and his experience and relationships allowed him to deliver a truly remarkable home. We are both designers and wanted to build something quite contemporary and simple (which is builder for complicated).
>
> Clark and his team have an amazing attention to detail that equaled ours and we never felt like we weren’t being heard or our concerns addressed.
>
> We were remote for this whole project and I completely trusted Clark to deliver on our vision. He’s one of the most scrupulous and upright individuals I’ve had the pleasure of working with.
>
> There’s a reason he’s been in the business so long and every year has a Fourth of July party where all of his formers clients show up.

> Clark was great to work with! He was super communicative and on top of scheduling, I was always kept in the loop. He kept the remodel very clean and made sure to protect parts of the house that weren’t being worked on!

**★★★★★ — blochertd, July 2026**

> Clark was excellent to work with. He guided us from beginning to end and adjusted to our style and budget. He familiarized himself with our taste and guided us to other professionals that accommodated us. His ideas and suggestions from the architect to all the vendors were spot on. He was always seeking the best value for each step of building. Clark was extremely responsive to our requests and readily available for questions or concerns.

**★★★★★ — Vince N, July 2026**

> Clark with Apex Mountain Homes is a pleasure to work with. He is an excellent communicator that stives to be meticulous on all scales of the project. Working closely with the Architect, Engineer, and Homeowner, Apex Mountain Homes achieves seamless project schedules and budgets.

**★★★★★ — Jacob, June 2026**

> Clark was a spectacular person to work with. His communication was always clear and timely. He does quality work and we look forward to working with him in the future!

**★★★★★ — Steve Stroud, Feb. 2019**

> We hired Apex Mountain Homes for a kitchen remodel, 3 season room upgrade and a perimeter wall around our patio. Clark Johnson and his team did outstanding work and the finished products exceeded expectations! The projects were done on time, the mess kept to a minimum and they have the upmost integrity! I would highly recommend their services!

**★★★★★ — Creative Floors, Oct. 2018**

> We enjoy working with Clark and the entire Apex Mountain Homes team. They are efficient, on schedule, communicative and overall the project is always a positive experience. Looking forward to future projects with Clark!

**★★★★★ — Todd Aichholz, Oct. 2018**

> Clark and his team at Apex Mountain Homes are some of the best builders in Colorado. Proper planning and time management are key to keeping projects on schedule in the construction industry, and Clark has mastered it. If you want a good custom home building experience give Apex Mountain Homes a call.

**★★★★★ — Marci, May 2018**

> We had a fabulous experience with Aoex for a home renovation project in Summit County! The project was completed within budget and on time with quality workmanship.. We were out of town during construction and the daily updates with photos made it so we could relax and trust the professionals. We will definitely hire Apex again.

**★★★★★ — almatw, June 2014**

> We were a little nervous about building a house long-distance (we lived in Virginia at the time), but our experience with Apex was so fabulous, we would do it again ... if Apex could build it anywhere in the country! Our home was completed on time and slightly under budget. Clark and Apex gave us complete transparency into the schedule, budget, and cost process. They emailed us photos every month and sent us invoices that included copies of all invoices they paid. They made construction design suggestions and helped us wade through the dozens of decisions that have to made when building a custom home. And even better for us, they negotiated with vendors/suppliers on our behalf to get us the best possible price on many materials and appliances in our home.
>
> We have been in our home seven years and love it as much as we did on day one. The quality of their work is so high that we have had no extraordinary expenses aside from normal upkeep. And Apex is so committed to their product that whenever we need to have some maintenance done or want to add or modify something, they are as responsive as the day we signed the building contract.
>
> We have remained in touch with Clark and Apex through the years and count them among our Colorado friends. We have the highest regard for Apex Mountain Homes and their entire staff and have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to anyone considering building a custom home in the Denver or high country area.

**★★★★★ — David A Beal, May 2014**

> David A. Beal & Associates has worked with Apex Mountain Homes for over 20 years. The professional relationship between my architectural firm and Apex Mountain Homes has always been a very complementary one. Both companies share in the values of sustainable building practices with great attention to aesthetics. As testimony to this commitment, Clark Johnson, owner of Apex Mountain Homes, implemented this philosophy in the building of his own house to exceed a “net zero” rating. In this effort, he accomplished the ultimate goal of combining the highest energy conservation and sustainability standards possible with a very desirable level of comfortable livability.
>
> The Apex Mountain Homes’ approach to building is one of teamwork. Apex sets the tone of the client, the architect, and the builder functioning together as a team with the goal of realizing a client’s dreams. Driven by the client’s input, Apex emphasizes facilitating good decision making, good design, and good building. My company looks forward to a continued business relationship with Apex Mountain Homes based solidly on teamwork and involvement.

> Apex Mountain Homes was a pleasure to work with on a renovation in Three Peaks. Clark's attention to detail and project management was unparralled. The craftsmanship produced by Apex and the communication between his team and ours made the project enjoyable and the outcome beautiful. It is so great to work with a builder with their level of professionalism and integrity. We look forward to the opportunity to work with Clark and Apex Mountain Homes again in the near future.

**★★★★★ — bConferarchitecture, April 2014**

> I have enjoyed working with Clark on a variety of projects over the past few years and found that he brings great energy to the project team. From initial pricing to the completion of final punch list items; Clark is involved, providing insight and creativity. His hands on approach is refreshing and a testament to Apex Mountain Homes.

**★★★★★ — msander765, April 2014**

> As a real estate professional, it is important that we only offer reputable, top-notch recommendations to our clients when they are looking for a builder. We recommend Apex Mountain Homes on a regular basis and have not been disappointed. Clark and his team are timely, professional, reasonable and experienced. We have also had the great privilege of listing a home built by Apex and receive nothing but positive feedback / comments on how unique and well-built the home is. We highly recommend Apex to anyone looking for a great builder.

**★★★★★ — northfork10, April 2014**

> We had the privilege of meeting Clark at a Summit County Parade of Homes in 2005. Soon thereafter, we hired Apex to build our dream home. The finished product exceeded every expectation. Our experience of working with Clark and Apex was a true pleasure. Years later, we decided to add a patio cover and Apex once again did a fantastic job in completing the project. If we were ever to build in Summit County again, there is no question that we would use Apex Mountain Homes.

**★★★★★ — sigridrein, April 2014**

> This was the first home we ever built new. Hiring Apex Mountain Homes as our general contractor was the best move we ever did. Their knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm was great, we could not have wished for a better team of professionals. Although putting in upgrades of insulation etc, the costs were not skyrocketing due to great prize negotiations.

**★★★★★ — leslie81, April 2014**

> My cleaning company has had the opportunity to do the final clean on several of Apex Mountain Home’s remodels, or new home construction projects, since 2012. It’s always a privilege to see the well-designed and stunning work that is completed by the Apex team. While cleaning every surface from top to bottom, their clear attention to detail is noticeable. They keep their focus on getting projects completed on time, while never losing concentration on high-quality workmanship.

**★★★★★ — Lori Burke, April 2014**

> We bought an Apex Mountain Home 20 years ago. We started our family there and it has been the center of our crazy, activity- filed lives ever since. Clark and his Apex team have become like our extended family through yearly gatherings. We have watched each of our families grow up through the years. Apex is not just a builder. They are a part of the community and I would hire them again in a heartbeat!

**★★★★★ — Creative Cabinetry Corp, July 2013**

> We have recently completed two homes with Apex Mountain Homes in Silverthorne. From the initial meetings, through the client consultations, to the final punch list it has been a pleasure to work with the Apex team. While their attention to detail may be overlooked or under appreciated by some,as a small business owner myself it speaks volumes about how this company does business and treats their clients. Apex was always easily accessible and available to answer questions about our design and help prevent any problems, enabling us to keep to our schedule and that of the clients. We look forward to working with Apex Mountain Homes for years to come.

**★★★★★ — Harmony Interiors, May 2013**

> As an Interior Designer, I have had the pleasure of working with Apex Mountain Homes on several projects over the past 3 years. During that time I have observed Clark as a highly motivated and extremely detail oriented builder offering a high level of customer service and quality to his clients. I always enjoy working with Clark and his team and would recommend Apex Mountain Homes to anyone considering a remodel or building a new home.

> We had the pleasure of working with Clark and Apex Mountain Homes four years ago. Apex built a wonderful 4000SF home in Frisco while we were living in Florida. Naturally we visited CO several times that year, but we were in contact weekly with pictures of every step. Their professionalism, expertise, and craftsmanship was exceptional. We chose Apex after visiting the Summit County Parade of Homes for three years. We couldn't have made a better choice. The Apex family continues to be great friends.

**★★★★★ — klperez, April 2013**

> We purchased a 5 year old house that was built by Clark Johnson of Apex Mountain Homes. After we purchased the home we hired Clark to finish the unfinished portion of the lower level. We took what was already a magnificent home and added some features special to our family. Clark listened to us and designed a plan that met and exceeded all our expectations. The interior work matched perfectly with the existing home. Clark also did some exterior work, including an outdoor patio, fireplace and grill, that added significant value to our home. From expert planning, frequent communication, detail orientation, execution, and follow up, we could not be more pleased with the result. I give Clark and his team my highest recommendation.

**★★★★★ — bhh Partners Planners / Architects, April 2013**

> Our company has had the privilege of working with Apex Mountain Homes since its inception in 1994. Over the years Apex has constructed numerous homes that we have designed. Clark Johnson is a highly qualified, creative and personable construction professional and has always completed projects per our drawings and specifications in a creative and cost effective manner. I whole-heartedly recommend Clark Johnson and Apex Mountain Homes as a quality Colorado Rockies mountain builder.

**★★★★★ — summit2013, April 2013**

> I engaged Clark Johnson and his team at Apex Mountain Builders to remodel a 2005 spec home that I purchased in late 2012 located in the Three Peaks subdivision of Silverthorne, CO. The setting and structural aspects of the home were beautiful, but the home could truly benefit from a complete update and transformation. The extensive project included adding an exterior deck; replacing front and rear porches; staining the entire outside of the home; tear down of a few interior walls; adding hardwood floors; remodelling bathrooms; adding beamwork; replacing counter-tops; new lighting fixtures; new paint; and many other additions/replacements.
>
> Clark orchestrated an amazing team of professionals to diligently work with me; the architects; and interior designers to completely transform my home into a work of art. The job was completed in a timely fashion and within 10% of budget, except for the change orders that I imposed on the project as it evolved. The quality of workmanship was very high and the subs were very respectful throughout the re-model process.
>
> I am extremely pleased with the outcome of the project and I highly recommend Clark and Apex for any remodel project or for building a home from the ground floor.

**★★★★★ — User, April 2013**

> Apex Mountain Homes are great builders and very easy to work with. They built a beautiful 7,000 SF+ home for us in Keystone. It was finished in 2003 and we have remained friends ever since. You are never a stranger once meeting and doing business with them. They have a work ethic that is rare these days. Apex has a great crew that is honest and diligent. Apex worked with us during the entire building process to make sure we understood every aspect of the project. They were more than fair with pricing and the very few changes needed due to their close examination of every aspect of the plans. I would not hesitate using them to build another home. We highly recommend Apex to anyone looking to build a home. We would not use any other builder. The very few issues that came up after the job was long finished were swiftly resolved by Apex, most of the time free of charge, even those outside the warranty! You won't go wrong hiring Apex. They stand behind every home they build.

**★★★★★ — Mike Triebel, April 2013**

> Pella Windows & Doors and Apex Mountain Homes have worked together for over 15 years. We value our relationship and always look forward to working with Apex. Clark and his team provide their clients with the highest level of quality and service while offering green building options and solutions. I would recommend Apex Mountain Homes to anyone considering a project, large or small.

**★★★★★ — malooby, April 2013**

> Apex Mountain Homes built our home in 2002. We chose Clark and Apex because we wanted a relationship with our builder that would last. We have been very pleased with Clark's service as well as the quality of his workmanship. Apex provided a high quality building service and follow-up. In addition, we've hired Clark to complete maintenance functions. Clark stands by his work, and he runs a quality business. We highly recommend Clark and Apex Mountain Homes.

**★★★★★ — steve5skier, April 2013**

> Clark Johnson and Apex Mt Homes were selected by my wife and me from many contractors we knew in the area. Clark has done over 100 projects in the area and we loved the mountain look and the attention to detail as well energy saving methods Clark uses. In addition he brought us very innovative
> building methods, including Revit and pre-cut framing, yet still totally custom design that saved us 10's of thousands of dollars. The process was fun and creative.
>
> What we liked was a home that was grander, warmer in feel, and repeatedly receives comments from guests who say great things about the beauty, livability, great layout, and attention to mountain views.
>
> We also particularly appreciated the transparent budgeting and expense tracking system that kept our tension level very low. We moved in a month early, below budget. We would gladly build with Clark and his team again.
>
> We also found that the relationship was oriented primarily on what we wanted. The team repeatedly showed great ability at creatively getting us unique solutions and attributes that we wanted without breaking the budget.
