Thank you** *(in Photo Questions)* What brand is the rug, please. A: In this case, we did the advertising photography for marketing this home for sale. I can tell you how I made the Blue Hour photograph, but I cannot tell you who made the rug. **Q: What is the wood species?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Denise, We did the photography for the owner. I do not know the wood flooring species. **Q: where did you find the fence/could i get one similar to it. thanks.** *(in Photo Questions)* A: That is the original fence. It is 50 feet long and is made of about 3000 separate iron pieces. A new one would be too expensive to make and it would be illegal by today's standards. Back in the 1870s, the fence was a decorative barrier and a deterrent to jumping over it. It is about 36 inches tall and has tapered points on each vertical iron rod. It is grandfathered in because it is original to the home, but it represents a hazard to children and pets. Thus the deterrent. Notice there is no railing on the porch, just as it was when it was built. Back in the day, if you fell off and got hurt, it was your own fault. Today's homes are much safer because the liability for injury on the property has shifted to the homeowner. **Q: Wht is the color/type of pool surface?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: We made the photographs for the builder, so I do not have the exact information. Based on the photograph and my limited knowledge of pools in the area, I would guess that it is a standard color gunnite pool. They did not do this one, but did a similar mid-century bench in my house. **Q: We will be needing to have our mansard roof redone soon.** *(in Photo Questions)* I believe our home was built in 1906. It has been a great home to us and 5 kids. The third floor is a great hangout for teenagers! We redid membrane on the top of our roof two years ago. However, we will need to do the mansard soon. Our home was once a rental and we are far from wealthy, but have invested much over the past 13 years. We are not sure how much longer we have in this home due to employment opportunity. I would be interested in some roofing ideas and options as far as shingles and reputable contractors in my area of South NJ. Any advice would be appreciated as I have never had a roof replaced before. A: We wanted to make the roof look original, but it was not cost effective to do it in slate. We replaced the mansard roof with Certain Teed Carriage House shingles. We chose a color that looked like slate, with small changes in color from greenish to reddish gray. We then banded it: 3 rows of rectangle shingles, 3 rows of beveled shingles, repeated evenly from bottom to top. That was probably the original design. You can then add more colors in patterns to create florets, dates and other designs.
