### Reviews

**★ — Robert Anderson, Nov. 2017**

> We are undertaking a major ($$$$) master bath renovation - a complete gut and incorporation of major upgrades - and purchased Interceramic Arundel Fortress tile ("13x13" and "20x20") for the floor and walk-in curbless shower. Based on our experience, the long story short on this tile is that there is nothing consistent about it, and we question whether there is any quality control in the manufacture process. It's almost as if we received four or five entirely different tiles.
>
> 1\. First off, the "20x20" is nothing close to a nominal 20. I completely understand nominal vs. actual sizes on myriad materials, but the "20" turns out to be 19-1/4", which is well short of what one might expect; and what one might fairly expect would be 19-3/4" actual. This resulted in an on-the-fly adjustment to our shower floor, requiring 3/8 x 20 rips and two grout lines to fill at the wall line, a look we would rather have avoided.
> 2\. The 13x13 is "something over" 13x13. These vary from shy of 13-1/8" (approx. 13-3/32 or so) to more than 13-3/16 (13-7/32). Most ranged from 13-1/8 to 13-3/16, which is still a huge variation from tile to tile if one desires to have a consistent grout line, and made the layout process extremely difficult.
>
> 3\. There is substantial variation in thickness from tile to tile. While the "20x20" tile is substantially thicker than the "13x13", there is a good deal of variation in thickness even within the same tile size, particularly the 13x13. I use tile levelers and spacers, but there is no easy way to avoid lippage issues given the thickness variation in these tiles.
>
> 4\. While any tile can have color/pattern variation, these tiles had completely different surface characteristics, ranging from virtually smooth to very cratered and slate-like, with color/pattern varying depending on the tile surface. It's as if someone simply boxed up two or three different tile styles in the same cartons.

## Community Q&A

**Q: What is the tile color** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi, this product is our San Giulio Piazza Silver

**Q: What is this tile? It is beautiful.** *(in Photo Questions)*

We are remodeling master bath and am having trouble picking tile.

A: Hello! Thank you for your questions and for the great compliment! This wall consists of two of our products from our series, STRUCTURA. They both have the same color but different textures to it (hammered and striped). These made in USA wall tiles, have simulated grout joints, and what that means is that you don't need to grout them for application, so anybody can do it (perfect for DIYers!). Click here to see details on our STRUCTURA series.
We also have a series named MARBRE, which is the same color and size, but no texture to it, this one comes in a Matte or Polished finish. Beautiful product as well!
Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with!

**Q: Backsplash dilemma!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

White shaker, cabinets, caesar-stone "cement" colour counter. Need some ideas for the backsplash. Can't decide between mosaic with different textures or glass subway or even just plain subway tile.

A: Hello! What is the color of your floor? We just recently added this mosaic that we think it would look great as your backsplash! It is available in three different colors. Check it out at http://www.interceramicusa.com/products/serie/basole/4829

**Q: Need ideas for master bath floors!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

In our master bathroom, we will be doing a 8x20" glossy white subway tile with medium to medium dark gray grout. We will either be doing white or marble look penny or 1" hex tile in the niches and for the shower floor (with the same darker grout). I can't decide what to use for the floors in the bathroom. It is a relatively large space and will have an attached closet with with our gray-brown laminate in it. Any ideas? Our vanity will be white with a marble look quartz. We will also have a freestanding white bathtub. We have all chrome fixtures. No paint color has been selected yet, but probably something in the gray or white family! ;)

A: Hello! Fun project! We have a vast array of inspirational images that can help you decide. Please click here to see them all and let us know if there's anything we can do to help!

**Q: Floor tile for small bathroom reno. Please help!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are renovating our master bathroom. The bathroom is a small L-shape 6 ft wide x 5' 4" on the short wall, 7' 8" on the long wall. That is just the floor space; it does not include the tub which we are converting to a walk-in shower. See diagram below for how our bathroom is laid out (vanity is 72" now and will be 72" now but I couldn't get the program to let me add one in there).
The problem is that the floor tile we picked out is backordered and we cannot wait for it to get started. We picked out this glossy 12x24 glossy porcelain marble-look tile for the floor. As I said, it is out of stock. The alternate in-stock options are-
1\. the same shape and style in a matte finish
2\. the same style and same glossy finish in a 30x30 square
The dilemma is the dimensions of the bathroom- 24inch tiles would work beautifully because there would be exactly 3 going across the 72inch room. The 72inch room would call for 2.4 of the 30" tiles, which I'm assuming would be done \[.2\]\[1\]\[1\]\[.2\]. I don't think this would look right, but this is my first reno project. Can anyone share their ideas/opinions on how the 30x30 would look in a space with our dimensions? Is it a horrible choice? At first I was leaning toward doing the 30x30s to keep the glossy finish, but now I am wondering if the matte 12x24s are the right choice. Please help! We have to make final choices today!

A: Hello! For smaller bathrooms, we recommend to use a lighter color to make it appear much larger. A marble tile or marble-look tile, matched with a fun mosaic will look fantastic! Visit us online to get you inspired! Here's the link to our bathroom room scenes! If there's anything we can do to help, please let us know!

**Q: is this backsplash hard to clean?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Glass Wall Tile

For maintenance and cleaning, it is recommended to use a soft, clean cloth with warm water or with a non-abrasive cleaner formulated for use with glass. Do not use any cleaners with abrasive agent as these could scratch the tile surface. Glass tile should not be installed in floor applications because it can fracture when exposed to extreme weights and is very susceptible to scratching.
