When Duff Builders contracts to build or remodel a home, you are getting experience that dates back to when Joe Duff was five years old. His father was a builder and allowed young Joe to help pound nails into drywall, marking x’s where the nails should go. His father always took the time to work along with Joe.

He began his own business in his home in Holtwood in 1979. Within the year, he had built his first house. In 1991, the volume of business made it necessary to relocate to the Willow Street area.

Looking back, Joe is proud of how much his company has grown into a successful business. Joe attributes much of his success to having a team of expert craftsmen and top-notch office staff.

Joining the company several years ago were both his daughter, Laura Schroeder, and son, Joe Duff IV. All three know the importance of family in business and strive to apply those family values to every meeting with a customer.

> A family company that wouldn’t rest until the job was completed to our satisfaction. The previous owners of our house completed a DYI fireplace remodel that was an eyesore. The bump out was faced with floor tile and a one piece cutout mantel. Duff builders came in and proposed refacing the bump out with natural hand placed stone to accent the room and more effectively feature our coal stove along with a flagstone hearth. They added two ceiling lights to brighten the room. They don’t miss the details. A flexible pipe was even run through the wall to hide the TV wires that previously ran down the side of the mantle. They had a difficult task retrofitting the proposed resolution into an area because of some limitations found during demo. The project was completed with an old barn beam sized out for a mantel. Joe brought several different styles of found wood so that we could select the perfect accent for the stone work. All of the team members that worked on the project were friendly and professional. Especially sensitive to the fact that we would be home with a 9 month old during much of the work, they didn’t bat an eye. I would recommend them for any project as they are friendly, fair and professional.

A: The green siding is Certainteed Mainstreet, Double 5" in Cypress. The brown shakes are Certainteed Cedar Impressions in Mountain Cedar. Hope that helps!
