When it came time for the project to start (10k project). Ray forgot what was being painted, the colors and several details. Suddenly, Ray is no where to be found and the quality was quite poor. Brand new woodwork with drip lines, over spray on furniture, door knobs and granite painted. > > To top it off, Ray bad mouthed me to my contractor. We chose them over the other vendor since the salesman seemed more knowledgeable and we wanted everything to look great. We were told the project would take 5 days. After the 2nd day, we rec'd a call they were done. However, the work was very shoddy and when we approached them about our concerns, the salesman became defensive, even yelling his voice to my husband and telling him he was being ridiculous. When the lead painter came back to fix some of the initial issues, he yelled at me in front of my children- my husband was not home at the time and I did not feel safe alone in the house with him. In hindsight, I should not have let him in. There were 2 main issues: (1) the sheen we selected was not the sheen used on our walls. I even handed a can of the sample paint (with "matte" typed on it) to the lead painter to ensure there would be no issues. To our shock, the walls were shiny when we got home on Day 2. They only said they would repaint with the matte finish if we purchased the paint, at an additional expense of $500! Second, we have since found a lot of paint on the inside of our white plantation shutters. In fact, almost every shutter has splatters of paint on it when you look through the windows. We just closed on a brand new build and all of the rooms in the house were the standard builder's beige. Since I fancy myself a designer, I wanted to surprise my family by having their space designed and furnished before their arrival. Instyle helped me by painting my mother's walls a bright sunny yellow, her ceiling a bright, deep rich pink. Her bathroom was to receive a accent wall of the same bright sunny yellow. It turned our GREAT! The only thing I hate is that Michael could not give me the black pinstripe I wanted on the on the crown moulding. We tried several methods and just could not make it happen. The 2nd bedroom the accent wall came out just as i envisioned. It looks like their service quality has dropped dramatically. They rushed through their work and left a number of bare spots. Their general painting job was maybe ok at best. They did a lousy job of painting my trims. They wouldn't cork or even tape the floor and walls before painting my trims. Two weeks after they finished I noticed paint peeling off my ceiling in the bathrooms. I called and left messages for them. . They showed up after 2 weeks and told me it was a texture issue and not a paint issue. I never had this issue before they painted my ceiling. When I called Gary he said he was busy and when I started pressing him for action, he asked that I don't threaten him. Soon after I posted my review on this site, they called me and said they would work with me to get the issue resolved, but I would have to pay $150 as labor to the workman to fix the texture issue. I took off the post I paid the workman and he fixed the texture issue. I then noticed more issues including where they painted over bare sheet rock. I called Ray and told him I was finding issues every day and needed to have these resolved once I compiled a full list. He said he will not be honoring their warranty and not to contact him or his office again.
