It's also a great place to see all of the artist, jewelers and painters with their work proudly displayed. One day after making the rounds I saw a girl sitting on the sidewalk leaning up against wall painting the bottom of her skateboard. I quickly noticed her choice of brilliant colors, beautiful design and creativity with how she used her skateboard as the canvas. I mentioned that to her that I just returned from backpacking throughout Asia and would love to have a painting that would remind me of my adventure! How do I do that where it meets the granite, backsplash and cabinet?? -I would like to paint or stain my table/ not sure what color (need help in this room with a color palette)- I'm thinking blue and greens b/c I would like to carry those colors throughout and into the adjoining living room. Suggestions-pictures? I would like to put a rug under the table (thinking of a natural jute) and slipcover the chairs - should I do white duck fabric or a different color? I love the shape of the table - the legs- so I'm thinking of taking two chairs out (the side not along the wall) and add a bench,,, Would that work with an oval shape table? Any suggestions on benches/color? Want to replace the boob light- but not sure with what- or how to go about it b/c it's not centered with the table- and I can't move the table not enough space?? \- Suggestions for wall art/mirror above the wainscoting \- never sure how many pics to put and not good with the scale of things- would love someone to help me here with a good layout for this wall -Desperately need some ideas for window treatment for my sliding glass doors?? This room gets good light I am going to send a second post that shows the other side of the room b/c I couldn't upload anymore pics on this post A: The best part about the wall color you've chosen (besides it's the exact wall color in my dining room! haha) is that that grey will be able to accommodate really any style of art. The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam uses grey for their display walls a well. As for layout, again, it's based on your preference. You can do once large focal piece, a row, or a gallery wall. Houzz has great articles on advice for gallery wall setup. As for plants, I'm partial to palms. They give a lovely volume, they do well indoors and if the room has great light they'll thrive, and they're super easy to care for. Stepmother's tongue is another great one, also called snake plant, spath peace lilies, rubber plant, they're all great, easy plants. **Q: Where to buy diamond cube mosaic tiles in Toronto?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Does anyone know where I can get white ceramic (preferable matte) diamond cube mosaic tiles in Toronto, like in the attached photo? A: I don't know about Toronto but Fireclay Tile in San Francisco has something similar I'm sure. Maybe get in touch with them and see if they know of any industry professionals in your area? https://www.fireclaytile.com **Q: Huge blank walls in great room** *(in Design Dilemma)* I have 2 spaces I need help with! The wall in my kitchen is an old chimney stack that couldnt be removed. I don't love art or pictures enough to put a huge colorful picture in the kitchen any other ideas? The other large wall in the great room I was going to put about 6 large pictures grouped together so it doesn't look to busy. I'm not in love with the idea. Any insight? A: for the largest wall you could do a modern 'built in' style shelving unit for display if you love objects more than pictures. This is a midcentury wood example, I'm sure you could find one to match your decor better. As for the kitchen - do you like sculpture? A modern sculpture would look awesome right there. Just some suggestions. **Q: Need help picking color for stucco and vinyl siding** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are having trouble deciding our exterior color because we cannot find enough examples of houses that have the color we want. We would really appreciate help in deciding what would look good on this house. We have a stucco front part of the home, and a vinyl addition. We are re-finishing the stucco and replacing the vinyl siding, so it is a complete overhaul. We like the color tuscan olive as the base color to bring an earthy feel to the house. We want to keep the colors muted and earthy since it's stucco. Would tuscan olive work with quiet willow for the trim? We initially wanted to go with pebblestone clay, but was advised against it. Should we paint our stairs the same color as the trim? We also heard that the trend is for people to add pop by adding a third color. What could work with tuscan olive? A: Love the Tuscan Olive color for the stucco and my vote is yes to matching the stairs to the trim. A third color as a pop would be a great way to add dimension and there's a lot of different ways you can go with it. You can go punchy and fun or subtle but strong contrast. I personally like the chestnut or clay color with the olive for strong yet not loud contrast, a rich plum for deep contrast (couldn't find a picture with a plum example.) I have this long wall that runs about 16 feet from my entryway/dining area/living room in my condo. I think I used up all my designing Mojo with the renovations and basic designing I did and now almost a year since I've moved in- I am stuck! I have this console table and mirror that I don't think fits my decor. I have nothing on my walls. Any advice would be appreciated!! The color on the the long wall is Rhine River by Benjamin Moore (sorry the pictures aren't very true to color). I don't have that much space because of the entrance to the kitchen SO I am a bit limited with where the dining table goes. The other two walls are gray and yellow. I was hoping for a console table or something similar so that I have somewhere put my purse and keys when we come in and also maybe a bench/ottoman underneath for some extra LR seating.
