> As a realtor whose clients look toward design work as compelling and beautiful as McGraw Bagnoli's, I am constantly in awe of how this group pulls together space, form and function for their projects. One Nest is just an example of the caliber work that can be done by this firm who strives towards innovation and creativity. I have seen first hand how their passion and collaboration comes together to create a beautiful design, and my clients love it... The work is gorgeous, and efficient use of space is phenomenal with the One Nest project in particular.

- [GreenSpur One Nest](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/greenspur-one-nest-pj-vj~293928)
  - Location: Fauquier County, VA
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: This modern interpretation of a cabin retreat was crafted from modular components, including structurally insulated panels and a steel chassis. The 1,000 SF home uses 85% less concrete than a typical home. Born out of research, the house is clad in magnesium oxide wallboard that eliminates the need for exterior siding and interior drywall, and is extremely durable as well as fire and water resistant.
- [Rowhouse Reconsidered](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/rowhouse-reconsidered-pj-vj~428256)
  - Location: Washington, DC
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: StudioMB transformed a one-story retail building into a modern residence that seamlessly blends with its historic surroundings in Washington D.C.'s Capitol Hill neighborhood. The four-bedroom home reconfigures traditional rowhouse design elements of light, service, and circulation. The interior, awash in light that cascades down and around a “service cube,” features interior balconies, tall windows, and floating stairs for unobstructed views. White walls throughout reinforce the home’s open floo…

- [Ranch Somerset](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/ranch-somerset-pj-vj~702230)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 15
  - Description: Transformation of a prototypical suburban ranch style home into an open plan, modern residence. A re-envisioning of a mid-century ranch home, StudioMB’s design takes advantage of a sloped site to allow a free-flowing connection between interior and exterior. The main floor was gutted to provide a modern open plan. The addition provides bedrooms on the second floor and a series of terraces that connect the living spaces to the site. The walk-out basement provides informal family space as well as…
- [Take 2](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/take-2-pj-vj~702214)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: Take 2 began as two guest cottages to a historic cabin overlooking the Potomac River and the C&O Canal. Although already under construction, StudioMB was asked to rethink the design as it was inadequate in size, materials, openness, and site orientation. The design's glass insertion marries the structures, links spaces, and opens up to views. The exterior materials—cedar, stone, and copper—tie the new to the old to create a holistic design.
- [Q Street Row](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/q-street-row-pj-vj~1050096)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: Located in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington D.C., these four 2,500 SF row houses feature large windows, high ceilings, natural materials, and clean lines. Q Street Row provides modern elegance to this diverse and growing neighborhood. Utilizing a complex building section, the rowhomes stand three stories above grade with three bedrooms, a home office, below-grade in-law suites, and private rear terraces and roof decks.
- [Convertible Coupe](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/convertible-coupe-pj-vj~2828833)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: The clients approached StudioMB to resolve a familiar dilemma: how to modify their outgrown, one-story rambler to provide much needed space for their maturing family. The design team radically transformed the existing home, removing the gable roof and creating an addition that expands vertically and to the rear. The second floor addition is strategically sloped to the street to reduce the scale as viewed from the street while opening up to the backyard.
- [Cabin John Modern](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/cabin-john-modern-pj-vj~2828841)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: This modern farmhouse on a wooded site maximizes space while respecting its neighbors. The broad front yard and secluded rear garden are both connected to views from inside the home, offering a contrast while nestling into the site’s old-growth trees.
- [Water Street](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/water-street-pj-vj~2828844)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 5
  - Description: When tasked with the renovation and reconfiguration of an existing condominium that had previously failed to take full advantage of its stunning view, StudioMB worked to remove all interior walls and to relocate the unit’s kitchen to better link to the interior and exterior views.
- [Potomac View](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/potomac-view-pj-vj~5980814)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: This conversion of an existing 1 1/2 story home into a spectacular three-story residence along a narrow site provides unparalleled views of the nearby river and the cliffs beyond. The light-filled project injects modern sensibilities with natural materials of wood, metal, and stucco to fit within this neighborhood of well-crafted contemporary homes.
- [W Street Residence](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/w-street-residence-pj-vj~5980820)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 13
  - Description: This new home for a young family presents a modest profile when viewed from the street while bringing light and air into the heart of the house through large south-facing windows toward the rear yard. The open floor plan elements of Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Library spaces are separated by solid masses that contain the home's service functions. Stucco and cedar “boxes” define the home's exterior.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Art** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you elaborate on the artwork? Name of artist? Website it was purchase?

A: The artist was Katherine Mapes Turner from Jackson Hole, WY

**Q: What type of wood floors are those?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love them, but they look different than heart of pine. What are they?

A: These are reclaimed barn siding, wide pine planks stained dark.

**Q: How did you do that????** *(in Photo Questions)*

That is so cool explain ??!!!

A: Not sure I understand the question, but the doors of the room open up against the metal posts which then closes off the sink (under the loft ladder) and the toilet. The material is reclaimed lumber from an old shed torn down from a farm down the road, set into metal channels at the wall and the metal posts.

**Q: Windows** *(in Photo Questions)*

Who manufactures the windows? Are they steel?

A: The windows are Lincoln wood windows painted black, they are the Direct set above and awning at the base.
