> Studio M is a wonderful firm. I worked with Natalie Flynn on the interior design of a 7,000 sf Tampa residence. She is amazing. I would recommend this firm with no hesitation.

> My wife and I can not say enough about Michelle and her talented staff. We were on the fence as to whether or not we should hire a designer for our new home, but let's just say we are glad that we did. Over the past three years, Michelle has helped guide us through the entire construction process. We even hired her to oversee the construction bidding process, hiring the architect, as well as designing the entire interiors from complete construction drawings to placing the last accessory. She is amazing to work with and has a great eye for detail.

> Our goal was to renovate a home that was originally built in the 1930's, making the necessary changes and updates while maintaing the original charm. Both Michelle and Meredith were very helpful and knowledgable in accomplishing that goal. It was a perfect fit from the very beginning of the project. They were both very mindful of our budget and also resourceful with using some of our existing furnishings! We were very impressed with their ability and felt very comfortable with all of our decisions. They were very good in allowing us a lot of hands on time. As a result of all of their time, effort and organizational skills, I am thrilled and happy to say that our newly renovated home has captured everything and then some, we had hoped for. Because Michelle and Meredith welcomed our impute, both my husband and I feel like we also were a part of the process! It is our pleasure to recommend Studio M Design!

> You can't find a better company that Studio M Interior Designs-not only does it produce top of the line work, but it also believes in giving back to its community! They took on the challenge of updating the Tampa Police Department's public spaces prior to the Republic National Convention. The company's founder and principal designer, Michelle Jennings Wiebe adopted the project as her annual charity and we can't thank Michelle, Eric Miller and the entire design team enough for the countless hours they dedicated to transforming some of our worn-down public areas into stylish and effective work spaces. Studio M spearhead the zero budget project along with Ignition Branding, Inc. Studio M took the reins on developing a design concept for our media center, which would be the department’s very own stage for the convention, along with our newly built community room. They married some of the existing and hard to replace features in those areas with post modern décor inspired by the hit TV show “Mad Men.” Michelle and her design team were in complete control of bringing this project to life, even going as far as reaching out to some of their colleagues for donated goods and services to complete the redesign. Now when the public walks into the media center for a news conference or the community room for a meeting, they see a comfortable and inviting space that mirrors the professionalism of our officers. We could not have brought these workspaces back to life without Studio M’s expertise in the design field or their outpouring of generosity towards making this renovation a reality for our department.

> I learned of Studio M when I was invited by an renowned and popular interior designer to attend Studio M's 20th Anniversary celebration, which was held in conjunction with the completion of the studio's work on a very large private estate. I couldn't believe my eyes at the sight of such a massive and detailed home. The home was stunningly perfect and the event was packed with movers and shakers from the surrounding communities.
> Over the next week or two, I did some background checking and found Studio M has a stellar reputation with their customers, suppliers and vendors, which allowed me to green light our project and invite the firm to spearhead the refurbishment of Tampa's historic police department headquarters. Over nearly 6 months, they created, designed, brokered and managed this project to a very successful outcome, which was celebrated by a ribbon cutting hosted by the Tampa Mayor and Chief of Police.
> Studio M utilized over two dozen vendors to complete the project right on time, and just prior to the Republican National Convention, enabling our city to look phenomenal for thousands of media reporting on visitors attending the large scale event.
> I highly recommend the team at Studio M and would be pleased to provide further reference to anyone.

We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for interior design services, especially if you are building a new home!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Outdated mountain kitchen** *(in Remodeling)*

I'd like to update this old-fashioned mountain home kitchen. New countertops and appliances on the list. The counters are speckled gray granite squares and they're chipping/coming loose. Could I upgrade the cabinet fronts but paint the cabinetry to save on cost? Unsure what colors would work with the house. Budget is $15K. Thank you for any advice or suggestions!

A: These are limited photos and angles, so this is just food for thought... I'd look at 1) counter depth fridge because it jumps out into the kitchen too much. 2) Delete peninsula because it makes the whole seating area tight (but we will offset that loss with (3). 3) Extend the wall where the fridge is out further (since you get rid of peninsula) to gain counter and storage there. 4) Extend uppers, lowers, and counter to the window. 5) case the counter depth fridge so you don't see the side of it.

It feels like this would open up the kitchen a lot, and the gains down each side would offset losing the peninsula.

Color wise, it's tough. I always like a white/bright kitchen .

**Q: Kitchen rendering feedback** *(in Appliances)*

Would love feedback on this rough kitchen rendering....going with the blue/brass theme. going to add more drawers as well. Thanks for any constructive feedback.

A: It's going to be beautiful. Without being able to lay it out myself in CAD, I'd suggest to take a really hard look at it and see if you really think two people will be more comfortable with the offset. I don't believe it's going to free up enough space to justify the lack of symmetry. I also believe the two 30 inch will be functionally greater than one 36. Not only will you gain total fridge space, the door swing won't be as wide into the traffic area. love to see the after pictures!!

**Q: Do I choose all gray cabinets; or white cabinets with gray island?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My son is having a home built and needs to make all house selections soon. The model had white kitchen cabinets with only gray on one side of island. He saw another model that had all gray cabinets and trying to decide which way would be best. The walls will be light gray throughout house.

A: you could always go with a darker gray on the Island and it will still read well with a lighter neutral on the walls but give it more pop. Lighting WITH dimmers, backsplash, and some beefy trim is what will give the room some character beyond that.

**Q: 36" Induction cooktop questions - Wolf vs. Bosch w/FlexInduction** *(in Appliances)*

I have never cooked on induction before but DH is set on getting a 36" induction cooktop if/when we ever remodel our existing house. The two choices we are interested in are the 36" Wolf with the bridging between the 4 smaller hobs and the 36" Bosch Benchmark with FlexInduction. Honestly, to me, the Bosch looks like the better configuration but I've seen some older negative reviews about functionality of the FlexInduction hobs and how it defaults to flex and doesn't cook evenly.
Does anyone have recent experience with either of these brands and models? If so, what are your thoughts.

A: You can't go wrong with a Wolf / Subzero. They have 24/7 customer service and it's a higher end name brand. They don't sell through home deport and best buy so if you are looking for a deciding factor, that's a huge one in our opinion. Good luck and enjoy your new induction!

**Q: Large kitchen Island or kitchen table?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am building a new home on the coast of SC. My kitchen will open out to a Large U shaped porch overlooking the marsh. My problem is that my kitchen designer and my architect have both proposed a large island for the kitchen. I keep suggesting a nice old farmhouse kitchen table instead but they both keep going back to the island with stools. I will have a large dining room close by and even though it's not super formal I feel like on a daily basis , my husband and I would rather not eat in the dining room. SO, island in the middle of my kitchen OR farmhouse table ?? HELP PLEASE !!

A: Island is definitely the way to go! Perfect for filling the large space, accommodating multiple people to sit on stools, and placing food/appetizers on. Even with a dining room, everyone always congregates in the kitchen. I have a large island in my kitchen (it fit 12 of us for an employee holiday dinner!) and I wouldn't trade it! You'd be surprised at how much use you'll get out of it.

**Q: kitchen remodel --- from galley to gorgeous!** *(in Before & After)*

gutted original galley kitchen (pic 1) & moved it to southern wall (pic 2), closing in 2 windows and adding a slider---and now have the kitchen of my dreams (pic 3)

A: Beautiful! I love the light fixtures you used over the island and how they coordinate with the stools.
