### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Katrina K, Sept. 2017**

> My kitchen just didn't work. It felt dark and cramped. I think of myself as having a pretty good eye for design but I was stumped! I consulted with Barbra and she figured out the problem right away: the cabinets were the same color as the floors. She gently persuaded me that the solution was to paint the cabinets (I admit, I was hesitant at first). Even more amazing, she recommended the paint brand and color and connected me to a trusted painter with experience painting cabinets. Put simply: she SOLVED my problem! I only wish I'd contacted her sooner.

**Comment from Barbra Bright Design:**

> Thanks for the kind words Katrina. Sometimes a consultation is all that's needed!
> Good luck and send me a photo.--b

> There are so many great things to say about working with Barbra Bright, I don't know where to start. Barbra took a fairly difficult design challenge and turned it into my favorite room in the house. The issue at hand was a space challenge. We had 3 full bathrooms, but no bathtub - and no seemingly real space to put one. Barbra was recommended to me by my contractor initially to consult with me on the space design, but ultimately helped design the entire bathroom. Barbra helped immensely by identifying the best location for the tub and subsequent configuration to maximize the space. With her help she transformed our small guest powder room into a functional space that accommodated bathing kids as well as kept a level of sophistication for guests when visiting. Interestingly, the bathroom seems larger than when we started, because we just have a much better layout. Not only was she a great space designer, but she helped pick out all of the details of the bathroom and I absolutely LOVE the room. I took almost every bit of advice she gave - and I regret not taking the few small bits of advice I didn't take! Not only am I super happy with the outcome of this project, but I was also very happy with the fee structure of her services, having worked with other designers before - I feel like I got so much more from Barbra than from others. And finally, Barbra had an excellent working relationship with our general contractor (which is a must), and I enjoyed every bit of the process and working with her. She was delightful. I'm looking forward to the next project we do together! I have found my designer.

**Comment from Barbra Bright Design:**

> What a nice review--thank you! I really loved working together on your bathroom. What can I say--we like the same things!

> I recently completed the project to renovate my house in the Bay Area. It is a mid-century styled home built in the early 1960's. The scope of the project included new flooring, kitchen, master bathroom, walk-in closet, interior/exterior painting and light fixtures.
>
> I feel very fortunate to use Barbra and the services she provided. She was extremely organized, efficient, easy and pleasant to work with. Communication with her was never an issue. Very often, we had to communicate by emails and text messages. She was always prompt in returning emails/text messages and follow up.
>
> Barbra was also a good listener and excellent team player. She worked well with the contractors. Most importantly, she offered many excellent design ideas, and the project was finished with a spectacular look and functionality.
>
> Barbra is simply an amazing designer. I highly recommend her for anyone who is contemplating a renovation project

**Comment from Barbra Bright Design:**

> Thank you so much for your kind review! I love mid century modern, so I loved working on your project. Considering you live in another state, we were still able to make design decisions (via phone and texts) that came out great!

**★★★★★ — SHARON Stone Design Build, May 2016**

> I first met Barbra when I started my way in the stone industry 10 years ago, Barbra is a very talented designer and an amazing person to work with. She put all of her time and heart into her projects, putting attention to all the details, never skip a thing. She inspires me as a business owner and as a college, her passion and her positive attitude makes the difference. . It has been a pleasure working with you. Cheers!!

**Comment from Barbra Bright Design:**

> Thanks Sharon! I really appreciate your kind words and enjoy working with you too. You did such a nice job on my Tiburon project that my client can't stop saying enough great things about your company--I can't wait to photograph it!--barbra

> We originally wanted to use Barbra only for her assistance with our kitchen design, but after working with her on the kitchen, we consulted with Barbra on our bathroom remodel as well. Barbra gave us great ideas and guidance on every aspect of the remodel from the selection of tiles to the functionality of our cabinet pulls/knobs. My husband and I have different tastes and ideas, but Barbara was able to listen to both of us and gave us suggestions that we both liked. I appreciated the fact that she never tried to push her opinions on us, but gave us suggestions and ideas. She was a valuable asset to our remodel, especially to our kitchen remodel. Her drawings were used by the cabinet maker with little modifications. We would not have been able to have a beautiful well-functioning kitchen without her.

**Comment from Barbra Bright Design:**

> Thanks for the kind review! I enjoyed working with both you and the hubby.--barbra

> We worked with Barbra from start to finish on our kitchen and bathroom remodel. We could not be happier with her services. She laid out a kitchen that is as functional as it is beautiful. She was very responsive throughout and kept our project ontime with her lightening fast turn-around on designs, measurements, material options, etc. She put us in touch with truly exceptional vendors (including our contractor). I have to admit that I was hesitant to work with someone with a modern aesthetic (our home is a 1905 Edwardian), but she helped us blend the old and new seamlessly. I would not hesitate to recommend Barbra or use her services again in the future!

> We have a completely remodeled kitchen that we love, largely due to the vision and guidance of Barbra Bright!
>
> Our remodel started as a typical kitchen re-do but then grew to a much larger project. We decided to convert to an open floor plan - gutting the entire kitchen and removing the walls between the kitchen, living room, and dining room.
>
> For such a large project we had many people involved, and most of them were recommended by Barbra. From the architect to the cabinet maker, the contractor, and the lighting designer, all came as recommendations from Barbra. And they were all professional, top notch people.
>
> We’re both engineers, and we know we don’t have a strong eye for color palettes and finishes. Hiring Barbra gave us a wonderfully functional kitchen that is beautiful as well.
>
> We first spoke with Barbra about six months before construction actually began. During that time we were getting plans, permits, finishes, and the contractor all lined up. Buying appliances. Haunting granite yards. Through it all Barbra was there, providing guidance and new ideas to consider. She was excellent at listening to our ideas and concerns, embracing and incorporating the things that would work while gently dissuading us from those that wouldn’t.
>
> During construction she was always available to consult on any issues that crept up. She never pushed issues off, but rather addressed them head-on and got them resolved. This was a huge help in keeping the remodel moving forward and keeping us sane!
>
> If you’re debating about hiring a professional designer, stop hesitating. A designer will be the smallest part of your budget and have the largest impact on the success of the project. It’s money very well spent. And if you can get Barbra - do it! She’ll bring fun, she’ll bring enthusiasm, and she’ll deliver a design that does everything you could wish for. We hope to work with her again!

> Remodeling a kitchen can be a daunting task. I needed someone knowledgeable and creative . I was lucky to find Barbra. She designed a kitchen that I love and helped me find just the right contractor that I enjoyed working with.Along with all the requirement I had the one thing I wanted was having a WOW factor for the countertops and backsplash and Barbra really delivered on that request. Everyone that walks into the kitchen for the first time exclaims...WOW!
> I honestly don't think I would have been as pleased if I had chosen any one else.

**★★★★★ — jjs2009, July 2015**

> Barbra is a talented designer, and we are so happy that we decided to work with her for our kithcen remodel. She listened to our dreams and made it a reality while helping us stay within our budget. We are so pleased with the finished project, and I wouldn't hesitate in working with her again!

**★★★★★ — author43, July 2015**

> I first met Barbra when I hired her for color consultation and design ideas for our kitchen make-over. Not only are her ideas fresh and inspired, but she has a lovely personality as well. Her goal was to make my husband and I happy and it didn’t matter to her how many times we changed our mind. She made us feel comfortable at every step and we felt that things were in control the whole time - if you have ever done any work in your home you know how difficult that can be. Barbra is extremely customer focused and has a rolodex of professionals to recommend as well. You will be extremely satisfied working with Barbra.

**★★★★★ — miketonjsl, July 2015**

> Barbra provided the design for the remodel of my kitchen and master bathroom. We also redid the fireplace in the living room. Barbra did a fantastic job, and I could not be more happy with how everything has turned out. I had a vision of what I wanted to accomplish, and she was instrumental in helping me understand the best way to accomplish the remodel of these spaces. As a result I was able to make better decisions, and the functionality and appearance of these spaces are very impressive. I am very happy with my new kitchen and bathroom! She also has an excellent list of contractors, and the one we selected did a quality job. I would highly recommend her if you were looking for someone to design a remodel in your house.

**★★★★★ — robinjoy73, July 2015**

> Barbra is outstanding! She really took the time to understand my vision, but also pointed out some important things about my plan I would not have been happy with had I not changed. She is smart, always responsive and has an excellent eye.
> Fortunately for me, I had Barbra come and check over my bathroom renovation plans in time to make changes. She greatly improved the overall look and helped save me money too. She helped with choosing the tile, cabinets, handles, fixtures, and paint. She saved me some mistakes. I love my bathrooms! And every time someone comes over they rave about them too.
> I recently contacted her about flooring and painting for my living room/dining/den/kitchen and she responded in timely way with enthusiasm and helped me select the flooring and plan the colors. And Barbra is not the pushy, know-it-all type. She makes sure you have want you like.

  - Description: This contemporary bathroom does double duty. Formally a power room, the goal of this remodel was to add a much needed tub to bath the kids, while continuing to serve as the only bathroom on the main floor. Space being a premium, a 48" tub was installed. The floating vanity and wall hung toilet keep the bathroom from feeling cramped. Water fall faucets for the sink and tub spout make washing up fun for the children, as does the colorful blue dandelion tile.

  - Description: This 6,000 square foot vacation home is located on the Sacramento-San Joaquin delta. Built in the '70s, it was in need of a major face lift. The new owners wanted a contemporary feel--somewhere they could relax and entertain on the weekends. The original kitchen and bar had outdated oak cabinetry. The floors were a combination of white tile and pink wall to wall carpet. It's still a work in progress--five more bathrooms to go!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the walnut vanity!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is this a custom vanity or did you buy it somewhere? I would love to know.

A: Hi there, the vanity is custom by Sung Kim Woodworking and Design

**Q: Any real world feedback from owners on this window treatment?** *(in Photo Questions)*

My new kitchen is designed to have this type of window treatment, going all the way down to the countertop. It looks stunning, but what is it like to live with? I'm concerned I'll always be mopping up water off of the window frame. Any feedback from owners that have done this?

A: Hello! The counter was a plus for them. The windows were a “pass through“ to outdoor kitchen.

**Q: Lovely mix! wood on wall pine? Perhaps You might share stain color(s)?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Are the ceiling and walls made of pine? The stain color(s)? Or are these also just wire brushed? Thank you!!

A: Hi Mollis, my client aged the pine board with tea and vinegar mixture. There are lots of recipes online!

**Q: Hi Barbara, we are redoing out kitchen using Brookhaven Alpine white** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please tell me what you used for the backsplash? Thank you.

A: Hi! Unfortunatly, I don’t remember the name of tile: I do know it’s from Ann Sacks. For a similar vibe, I would look at their “Made” collection.

**Q: Was the vanity a custom?** *(in Photo Questions)*

If so may I know who fabricated it for you? Many thanks

A: Yes, the vanity was custom by Sung Kim.

**Q: What wood is used on the cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is this walnut?
Thanks,
Fiona

A: Hi Fiona, the wood species is Lyptus.
