Le jardinet was founded in 2006 as a custom container garden design service, quickly gaining national recognition as my designs were featured in publications including Fine Gardening, Garden Design online, This Old House, Sunset Magazine blog and  Better Homes and Gardens titles.

Gardens evolve and so do our lives and so with the success of my award winning book Fine Foliage  I found myself traveling and speaking more frequently so have shifted my focus full time to landscape design, specializing in small spaces and serving the Greater Seattle area. These demand the same attention to detail and level of artistry that Le jardinet has become known for but I now apply those skills to create elegant and functional outdoor living spaces to suit your lifestyle. I also offer garden consultations to help troubleshoot existing problems or get you started on a new project.

For those who would still appreciate professional design assistance with their containers I would love to work with you either through my Personal Container Coach service or one of my many workshops held here at our home in Duvall, WA.

My aim as always is to combine my extensive horticultural knowledge and creativity to bring you designs that will exceed your expectations.

> My wife and I faced a dilemma after our neighbors removed several 75' trees which bordered our respective properties. The dilemma was that our privacy was gone. We considered multiple ways to address the problem but it was a challenge to come up with a good solution. Fortunately, we learned of Karen Chapman from friends who hired her to design their garden. Their final result was an amazing transformation and we knew that we wanted to work with her.

> Our back yard was neat but also very nondescript and unattractive, with a lawn that sloped down towards the rear of the property. We had a deck on the side of the house with patio furniture and this is where we spent most of our outdoor time.  The rest of the property was not interesting and was never used.

**Q: When can I transplant bleeding heart plant?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Plant is a few years old & is dying back now….can it be transplanted?

A: Yes it can although I prefer to do this in fall. I'd just cut it to the ground now - mark where it is and plan to transplant in mid-September when rainfall is reliable. Although these are drought tolerant and going dormant you don't want the roots/crown to dry out after transplanting - and there's a risk of that in summer unless you have irrigation.

I am looking to create a garden space like this in my yard, and this lattice would be perfect. Just enough separation without being obscure. Thank you.

A: The laths were 1" and the gaps between were approx 5" i.e. the laths were on 6" centers.

A: yes golden locust: Robinia pseudoacacia 'Frisia'

Orange coleus variety.
