> I recently had the pleasure of working with Hughes Landscaping to transform my outdoor space, build a shed, sod my whole yard, and resolve drainage issues, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, my experience has been nothing short of outstanding.
>
> The initial consultation with their team was impressive. They took the time to listen to my ideas and vision for my backyard and offered their expertise and creative input. It was clear right from the start that they were passionate about their work and dedicated to delivering exceptional results.
>
> One of the things that stood out to me was their attention to detail. They meticulously planned every aspect of my projects, from my first interaction with John and Carter to their management throughout the half-dozen projects I've engaged with them on. Their solutions were not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and sustainable.
>
> The actual installation of all my projects was smooth, efficient, and exceptionally performed. The crew was punctual, professional, and clearly skilled in their craft. They worked tirelessly to bring the designs to life, and the results were breathtaking. The hardscaping, including the patio, shed, and drainage issues, was flawlessly executed, and the landscaping afterward was carefully planned and implemented to create a vibrant and harmonious outdoor oasis.
>
> The communication with John and Carter Hughes was excellent throughout my projects. They kept me informed every step of the way, and any questions or concerns I had were addressed promptly. This level of transparency and professionalism was greatly appreciated and added to the overall positive experience.
>
> Now that many projects are completed, I couldn't be happier with the outcome. My front and backyard have been transformed into a beautiful and inviting space I can't wait to spend time in. It's not just landscaping; it's a work of art!
>
> I highly recommend Hughes Landscaping to anyone looking to enhance their outdoor space, patios, and complex construction projects. Their expertise, attention to detail, and dedication to customer satisfaction set them apart from other contractors. If you want a company that will exceed your expectations and create a space you'll love for years to come, look no further than Hughes Landscaping. Thank you for turning my landscaping and construction dreams into a reality!

> I was a client of Hughes for years for lawn mowing service. About a month ago, I received an impersonal letter in the mail indicating my account had been referred to a new provider because Hughes didn’t have enough staff to accommodate all customers. Several of my immediate neighbors on the street also use Hughes, and lo and behold their lawns are all getting mowed on time this year. So while the Hughes truck parks in front of my home each week to do my neighbor’s yards, its a bit of a mystery.
>
> Turns out they were thinning their customer base and referring lawn only customers to others and keeping customers who also bought other services, such as annual yard cleanup/mulching and shrub service. If Hughes were smart, they would have called to attempt to upswell me - but they don’t seem to have the business acumen.
>
> Thankfully I’m with another local company. Now and very happy. But if you’re looking for a company which values longtime customers, Hughes is not for you.

> Great business, I have tried many different landscaping companies in the past and was dissatisfied. Hughes landscaping is bar none the BEST. Great job guys.

> Unimpressed with their leadership. My project was significantly overpriced for the services they provided. Quality issues and lack of supervision. Other issues but I won’t get into detail. Poor customer service. Disappointed with the outcome.

> Hughes Landscaping to the rescue! Our 1930's family home in Washington DC was in dire need of everything exterior. The home is now a rental and having had the interior work completed enough to rent I needed to start work on the exterior. John Hughes and team were so wonderful to work with and made the process seamless. All exterior entry stairs and walkways were capped, the original 1930's driveway was transformed with pavers, all new railings and a new rear patio that expands the width of the house was completed. Hughes Landscaping also removed trees and revamped the front and back yards. The new front plantings have been installed and I look forward to finishing up the rear landscaping in the spring of 2017. I wish I could add the before photos... the results are quite striking!

> I adore Hughes Landscaping. They have done many projects for me and I find their pricing to be fair, their service to be exceptional and the devotion of their staff to doing a great job is off the charts. I wouldn't use another landscaping company!

> The Hughes Landscaping team of Kelley Oklesson (landscape designer) and Jerry Fyock (sales manager) are extremely knowledgeable and professional. They helped us design a beautiful English style garden along with touches of Southern style plantings for our front and side lawns. Kelly recommended plants that would thrive in the correct setting and also incorporate plantings that would allow for color throughout the various seasons. Jerry was great in recommending drains and gradings to correct water drainage issues we had around the base of the house and he has a terrific sense of scale. Additional services they provided for us was dead tree and limb removal and stump grinding, The personnel who did the actual installation were extremely pleasant and hard working. Cost breakdowns for each area was provided so we could choose which items fit our needs. We look forward to seeing our new yard blossom this coming spring. Thank you Kelley and Jerry!!

> When we moved to our new house with a very large lot we knew we needed a professional landscaping design. We are very glad that we quickly found Kelley Oklesson at Hughes Landscaping. Kelley was very generous with her time; she got to know our site and our tastes, ensuring a unique and appropriate landscape design. She graciously and seriously incorporated our ideas. She developed a landscape concept that focused on varied but complementary color and texture across seasons, that highlighted vertical as well as horizontal space, and that featured plants indigenous to this part of Maryland and the mid-Atlantic; and that was as close to deer-safe as possible. We elected to implement Kelley’s plan ourselves (with our gardener) so it was enormously helpful that Kelley’s landscape design concept was easy to follow and to implement. I would recommend her without hesitation for any landscape design work.

> These guys came in under everyone else budget wise for mowing almost two acres. They're always available to maintain flower beds, cut trees and whatever else you need done. The guys are polite, considerate and very professional. I'm so glad we found them.
> We've had them for three years and will continue to use them.

## Community Q&A

**Q: What kind of tree?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the tree in the background center?

A: That is a Cryptomeria

**Q: dimension** *(in Photo Questions)*

dimensions pls?

A: The pan inside the pit is 30". The wall surrounding is about 7" thick. There are few limitations to the pan size which dictates the size of the pit. The height is a typical 20"

**Q: What color is the deck, rails and spindles?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The decking is Trex Transcend series in the Lava Rock color. The post is Trex composite white and the balusters are satin black. The railings are Vintage Lantern also from the Transcend series.

**Q: Patio** *(in Photo Questions)*

Which store in the DC area were these stones purchased from I've not been seeing nice colored pieces like these at the stone stores.

A: It is mortar. There are quite a few different types. None of which we use are white in color but more often a tan or gray. All mortars will appear bright when first installed. This one will fade out fairly quickly and has to better compliment the stone with a darker more natural hue. Its is the same mortar that is used for the wall and that too will fade but because it is vertical work it is not subjected quite a badly to the elements so it will not transition as quickly.

**Q: What stone was used for the kitchen?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The stone used is Eldorado brand Stacked Stone in the Nantucket color.

**Q: What stone was used on the fire pit?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The stone used is Eldorado brand Stacked Stone in the Nantucket color.
