Lena came out to give me a quote. Set an appt for 8:30ish no show I called around 9:00 to check. Crew did not arrive till after 10am. No crew members could speak English. Lena shows up after 3pm after I called. Then the quote given by lena was incorrect. Lena did nothing to rectify her mistake which costs me more money than the quote. Unhappy unprofessional then placed a sign in my yard I took that sign down I would never promote, recommend to do business ever........ **Comment from SIARA DESIGNS:** > The above claims by Debra R are untrue and do not represent the facts. > > Debra was never present, neither during the original consultation nor the actual installation. Her husband was the only one present at both times. > > Here are the facts: > > (1)We were hired to clean up the clients’ yard, lay sod and install edging. > > (2)We told the client we would buy materials in the morning and text them when we were on our way, which we did. There was no set start time scheduled. > > (3)The client claims no one spoke English. Fact is the project manager (PM) informed the client that the crew would start with clean-up and that the PM would be there shortly after. The PM communicated with the clients in English at all times. It is not the clients’ job to talk to the crew, but to the PM. > > (4)While on site, the PM identified that additional edging (in addition to what was originally quoted, not simply a price increase) was needed and provided the husband with a quote for the additional material. This happened during the installation, not after. > > (5)We would never surprise our clients’ with additional costs after doing the work. We always discuss any additions before any work is done to get approval. The husband agreed to adding the additional edging. > > We communicated every necessary step along the way clearly with the husband, who again was the only one present. She was the fourth landscape designer that we have used. We liked our previous landscape designers, but over thirty years, they had moved from the area and/or into different careers. We wanted plants that required lower maintenance along with being native and or well-adapted to the area. Siara Designs did a wonderful job of incorporating these requirements into the plan. **★ — Lili M., Sept. 2020** > I hired Siara Designs based on the favorable reviews I read. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The agreement with Lena, the owner, included the installation of a border consisting of two straight rows of edging six inches apart and 2 inches deep filled with river rocks between my property and that of my neighbor's. The crew did not measure properly before installation, resulting in the edging veering and narrowing throughout and off center by over 9 inches near the sidewalk, when measured from the side of the house. Near the sidewalk, the edging was cut asymmetrically such that one side was cut on the inside of its thickness, while the other side was cut on the outside. The other end near the gate was not similarly cut. I attribute the problems to Lena, who left her crew, none of whom spoke any English, in the midst of the installation and did not return. She at first ignored my calls, texts, and emails informing her of the problems. Then, she claimed to be sick. Eventually, she agreed to come to look at the installation. She never did. Instead, she sent a workman and texted me after he left to inform me that the work was done. The workman dug a new trench, moving the edging one inch on the right, but back filled haphazardly leaving piles of dirt which looked like a gopher had dug the trench, and the edging remains noticeably crooked. No supervision from the client is requested nor necessary. > > The crew installed the side yard edging and made adjustments as requested during the installation. Afterward we came out a second time to adjust the work further as asked. > > The edging was measured with a string and measuring tape (as our photos show) in a straight line between the two properties from the fence post in the back to the front sidewalk. It wasn’t accidentally cut but each piece has a connection area that is thinner so two pieces can be aligned and connected for close connection. > The front piece of the edging along the sidewalk had to be cut as separate 6” piece to create a straight line. Composite edging can’t be installed with a sharp 6” curve bending backward at each side because it would break. > > After we completed the front flower bed edging we re-installed that a second time as well as she wanted it to be lowered further and we cut the landscape fabric to free the sprinkler heads under the gravel while she ran the sprinklers. > > I have personally inspected the work after all revisions. The line is straight as our pictures show. If we had made the changes she is requesting (as shown in her pictures taken from a left angle, not standing directly in front of the side yard edging, which doesn’t show the actual way it was installed.) the edging would have in fact been crooked and outside of her property line. She and her team completely transformed our front flowerbeds, as well as fixed some leveling issues/laying new sod in our backyard.
