**Q: Need Help Selecting Color for Fireplace Wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We would greatly appreciate your assistance in selecting a new color for the fireplace wall.
The color of our living room walls and fireplace wall is Sherwin Williams satin sheen Balanced Beige. All trim is Sherwin Williams gloss sheen Bright White. The fireplace wall is covered with troweled stucco. The first image shows the fireplace wall followed by a section of the Balance Beige stucco fireplace wall, textured living room wall and Bright White wood trim. Other images show are of the living room. Closeup image of various materials in the room are provided. The style of our interior is sophisticated causal.
We truly appreciate you help.

A: Another nice feature for your fireplace might be to add a nice mantle piece. That way you can add pictures or other accessories on the mantel. You might also want to think about doing a Santa Barbara finish on the fireplace that is a smooth finish, depending on how much work you want to put into it.

**Q: Reclaimed Hemlock Counter Top** *(in Before & After)*

Reclaimed counter tops continue to gain popularity in the wood counter top industry. They produce a high character wood counter top while offering a "green" option to customers who are interested. Here are photos of a 2 1/4" thick plank style reclaimed Hemlock counter top recently produced by us!
It all starts with a source of reclaimed lumber material. In this case we located a bundle of 3" hemlock beams taken out of a mill building in the Boston, MA area.
The hemlock makes it's way to our shop where it is straightened, processed and glued together to crate a slab to work from.
The top is then processed with the bottom of the top being flat as to make attaching to the cabinetry easy while the top of the counter top retains the natural contours of the reclaimed lumber provided. Epoxy is used in some instances where the cracks may cause some concern for the stability of the top but the epoxy is mixed with colors as to best resemble the natural color and shape of the wood. 
The beauty and natural color of the wood comes to life with the tung oil finish!

**Q: PLEASE help me! Living Room Conundrum** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello! I am not creative. PLEASE help me with some ideas on changing my living room. The blankets are on the couch and pillows are in the corner because of my dogs. 

I would love to change the flooring, paint, couches, and general wall and mantel decor, but I'm on a budget. I like modern, contemporary, and rustic looks. I've looked at microfiber gray couches, but I'm not sure if that would match. The ceilings are high, so there is lots of wall space. I've tried to take pictures to show the room's layout. The living room and kitchen are separated by a half wall (behind love seat.) The kitchen is a chocolate brown.

Please share your ideas with me. I'm desperate. :(

A: Leanne Michael has great suggestions. The art piece that you have on the staircase wall above your smaller couch, would be a better piece to replace above your mantle. You can work with what you already have. If you are going to put blankets on your couches, you might want to at least find something that will tie in with your decor. Best of luck you can do it!

Would like to consider tile floor that looks like wood in a Mediterranean style home. Any suggestions that look best?

**Q: A room with a "view"** *(in Before & After)*

Standing at the stairway landing, the view into the hallway bathroom was less than appealing in this charming cottage.  Wasn't very difficult to convince our client to ditch the knee knocker layout.  :)

**Q: Blue tone for bedroom.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My daughter bedroom 15x12 (requested Blue tone)
I'm not big fan of this color, try 3 time already not have any luck yet.
How can I do Blue that not make the room look to small.
The floor is going to be dark bamboo and have plenty of nature light.

A: I agree with acm! Go with a lighter blue that has a little more gray tones. Blues and purples in the lighter tones, are very calming colors so they are nice in bedrooms as long as they're not bold and bright.
