They were hired for our kitchen, baths, laundry, and bar remodel. Beginning with the demo of our kitchen countertops, our wood floors were not properly protected and they are now scratched. They used zero care when they removed our butlery top and heavily gouged an adjacent wood beam. > Our kitchen island top was about to be delivered to our home with yellow lines along the seam. Luckily my designer caught this before they were delivered, but this was a delay. When the island was delivered, the yellow epoxy showed through on the corners and the fabricaton was sloppy. They were sent back. Another delay. > The perimeter countertops were installed at the correct height in only one area. But along two other walls, they were installed at least a quarter inch lower. This was an obvious blunder, as there are huge gaps between the countertop and my stove surround. Les, the owner, was called out to assess the situation. At first he agreed and he said his guys would raise them. After one of the tops broke, he changed his mind and told us the tops were fine and we could just fix the problem by adding extra grout. I told him that I wanted the tops to be installed at the same height as the other top. He said he wouldn't do it. I then proceeded to tell him of all the issues we had while using his company and he told me these are all common issues that happen all the time! > Most of our issues are just common sense mistakes, lack of oversight, and absolutely NO attention to detail. The above issues, along with the crew arriving a day before they were scheduled (luckily I was off work that day) and coming in at the end of a shower remodel to caulk a shower seat with the wrong color caulk (rookie mistake) and a rude owner...not sure how this company can stay in business. **★★★★★ — Ken Gedney, April 2018** > The install was a great experience. The install technicians were excellent at their trade. But what was so impressive they were well dressed and polite. They covered my floors, removed draws from all the new cabinets to protect. The measurements were exact. My father was a kitchen architect and I am one anal individual when it comes to quality. I strongly recommend The Granite Shop. They were awesome. My kitchen counters were a bit of an odd shape with a large bay window. We had estimated 2 slabs, but depending on the measurements of a window there was the off chance that 3 slabs would be needed. Jr. did an awesome job in laying out the granite to keep the "horse" that I wanted to keep and to only use 2 slabs. The installation was a bear, because of a large bay window, badly installed drywall, a large cast iron undercount sink, and unlevel cabinets. > > The granite counters are gorgeous. They did an beyond great job of dealing all my problem areas, the counters are level and my sink is secure so I can bathe my grandson without fearing the sink will fall. > > The Granite Shop has a wide variety of granite, they also will fabricate your granite. I will definitely call them for my next granite project. **★ — alexander33, Feb. 2014** > The Granite Shop has made the gut renovation of my bathroom a nightmare. I had four Carrera marble slabs cut for my shower walls, floor to ceiling, and one slab cut for my countertop. One slab for the shower wall was installed crooked (almost 2 inches out of plumb), so I had to pay my contractor to construct wing walls on either side of the shower entrance in order to try to disguise this irreversible error. On the same slab, they cut the hole for my volume control fixture too large, so I had to acquire replacement hardware and have a larger-than-specified escutcheon custom-made and plated in order to cover this second irreversible error. (In fact, we are still trying to fix this problem so that our attempted solution does not call too much attention to the fact that I've had to use non-factory materials in accompaniment with the $5,500 splurge-worthy hardware line I scrimped and saved to buy). They also scratched two of the shower slabs during the installation, and then claimed that those were just "irregularities in a natural material." It actually required a manager's visit to my home before they finally acknowledged that they caused the scratches and agreed to polish them out. On the countertop, they cut the marble incorrectly so that a defect that we had taped off and told them to cut around was actually present, front and center, next to one of the sinks. They claimed that they cut the slab just as we had directed them and denied any fault, until we showed them photographs we took of the slab before it was cut, clearly taped off by my contractor so as to exclude the defect. I then had to find another slab and have it shipped to them to re-cut. Although they did agree to absorb the cost for the replacement slab, they then chipped one of the holes in it for my faucet (which extended almost an inch beyond the footprint of the faucet escutcheon). We asked them to come back to my house to repair it. The man they sent out first stated that we should just live with the chip. When we refused, he inexplicably tried to fill the chip with an opaque, yellowish/cream-colored epoxy that did not match the marble instead of using a clear epoxy. He evidently did not have a clear epoxy with him and couldn't be bothered to go get some. When my contractor objected to his using a material to fill a chip (that they caused) that did not match the stone, this man actually got angry and walked the job! After waiting in vain for the customer service manager to return our calls, we are now having to find someone else to repair this chip to this second, replacement countertop. $6,500 worth of marble, now going on 3+ months of my time (during which I have not even been able to live in my house, as I have only this one bathroom), and it has just been one mistake after another by The Granite Shop, causing innumerable delays in completing this renovation. In every instance, they have tried to blame someone else for the problems that they caused. Their attitude toward my contractor, my project, my time and any cognizance as to good customer service has been dismissive, at best. The size I needed is hard to find and I needed three slabs total. The granite I picked was perfect, exactly what I wanted. The price was better than I every dreamed. They saved me so much. Like all other constructions projects, we were over budget.
