**★★★★★ — HU-748571563, April 2024**

> We've worked with Shannon for almost 20 years on various projects. We've found her extremely talented and very easy to work with. She was very committed to hearing our thoughts and goals and making sure that the end result met our expectations.

**★★★★★ — Gabriel ; As mentioned it was a complete gut r, Sept. 2020**

> Shannon Scarlett was our architect on our most recent major renovation project. We used her in the past and decided to use her again with no hesitation. This project was a major challenge on a Large Mansard Victorian two family home, built in 1873 whereby our wish was to turn around the apartments instead of being one above the other, to one in the front and one in the back with a brand new two car garage. Shannon made our wish come true. In the preliminaries stages, we met twice a month and then more often to review the drawings. Shannon suggestions, with our input made it all possible. Shannon not only was able to get the Town of Watertown to approve the project, when we had changes along the way, she was there helping us with contractors and the local inspectional services.
> Shannon was flexible with our demands and was aware of the town requirements and set backs and all other historic issues.
> As I said we used her in the past, and went back hiring her for our current project.
> Feel free to contact me, at email belowif you want to discuss further

**Comment from Shannon Taylor Scarlett, Architects:**

> Gabriel and his wife have been great clients. I was surprised to get their email, twenty years after helping them with another house, that they had moved and wanted to remodel and add on to their new house. It was as if just a couple years had past, and we jumped right into developing design ideas. A fun little detail was that their son, Kitron who was maybe six or so during the first rebuild, was the project manager for the construction phase of this project. His degree in Industrial Design gave him an eye for the details that really helped make the project sing. So I'd have to say, both in the design and construction, the success of this project came from the collaborative efforts of all involved!

**★★★★ — Jose Rodriguez, April 2019**

> Shannon was very helpful with my interior remodel project. I highly recommend her work to any homeowner.
> She always was and top of my necessities. and also cover all my expectations.

**★★★★ — barry6518, Aug. 2016**

> Shannon has worked with us to detail additions to our home in Wellesley. She has been a pleasure to work with offering a creative professional product and a valued guide to our addition ideas.

**★★★★★ — Tina Taylor, June 2016**

> Love the work that Shannon does. Seen many of her projects that they are very eye catching and modern. She mixes old with the new in a very tasteful manner.

**Comment from Shannon Taylor Scarlett, Architects:**

> Enjoyed helping you guys come up with the perfect outdoor entertaining space!

**★★★★★ — AnnaMarie DeFeo, Feb. 2015**

> For the last 16 months my husband and I have been working with Shannon on building our dream home. Shannon's taste is flawless and her ability to design what her client conveys is extremely impressive. Shannon believes in modeling the home around the practicality of her client's everyday use. Her ideas helped my husband and I decide what is really important to us as far as function and what details we can't live without.
>
> Shannon's knowledge is top notch and this is vital when planning for construction. Her knowledge of our town's building codes, our challenging structural design, and the latest trends in home renovations has helped the process remain smooth and painless. The level of detail that she put into her drawings was so exciting to see on paper and now in person. Our home has 3 sharp gables on the front and the moldings and the trim stands out from the street and always makes our neighbors stop and take it all in. Her details aren't over powering. They spread out to maximize the perfect amount of curb appeal.
>
> Our project has been somewhat challenging for our builder due to our family living through the extensive renovation. Shannon has been vital during this stage. She has helped organize a plan so that the construction can run smoothly without any major disturbances and most importantly she has helped us stay on budget.
>
> We would strongly recommend Shannon as a designer, planner, and project manager. I can't stress enough how important it is to have her heavily involved during the construction process. She will always have her client's best interests in mind and will make sure the job is completed correctly and efficiently.

**Comment from Shannon Taylor Scarlett, Architects:**

> Ann and Jim have been wonderful clients, they have an interesting eclectic style, they appreciate quality but have also been reasonable and easy to work with. This has been a different and fun project, combining a Cape cottage conversion with a little dash of California modern in the details.

**★★★★★ — yhongbo, Sept. 2014**

> Shannon Scarlett provides extremely high quality service, including great ideas and concepts, beautiful designs, and wonderful design details. In addition, she is extremely pleasant to work with. We recommend her service without any reservation.

**Comment from Shannon Taylor Scarlett, Architects:**

> The Hongbos were very easy to work with, and really appreciative of the design recommendations suggested for their house. They came to me when their project, originally drawn up by an engineer, was denied approval by the Wellesley Zoning Board. I assisted them in redesigning the plans and elevations to meet the stringent requirements of the board, which were subsequently approved.

**★★★★ — Bud Drummey, Nov. 2013**

> Our project required an objective and creative approach to make a more efficient use of our space but to maintain as much as the old-style charm of the home. Shannon definitely provided us options that met our needs and then worked closely with us to fine-tune the final plans. Shannon has been very prompt and responsive with our project, which has made the process so far relatively smooth and productive. I would recommend Shannon highly.

**Comment from Shannon Taylor Scarlett, Architects:**

> This family has been wonderful to work with, they wanted to be able to accommodate an additional bedroom and bath, and even out the sizes of the existing bedrooms. With a relatively small addition, and a full renovation of the interiors, we were able to comfortably fit everything, while still maintaining the 19th century charm of the exterior. We are about to move into construction, and am looking forward to seeing their goals for this project fulfilled.

**★★★★★ — jccellucci, May 2013**

> It has been a pleasure to work with Shannon. We have completed 3 successfull projects together. She has great attention to detail. She is very professional and I hope to work with her again in the future.

**★★★★★ — Frank Gundal, April 2013**

> I have had the unique opportunity to work with Shannon in several different roles and all with similar outcomes. I have provided services for her through my own company, have hired her for services and worked with her providing services to mutual clients. In all cases I've very much appreciated her thoughtfulness, creativity and attention to detail. She is truly a pleasure to work with

**★★★★★ — rdhellweg, April 2013**

> Shannon Scarlett provided ideas and initial concepts for the extensive redesign of my old, small kitchen (with two ceiling heights and floor levels) and dining room. From her initial concepts and our inputs on what was important to us, she modified the concepts and prepared a detailed design for both rooms. We could not believe that we could have the remodeling that she designed! She is easy to work with and listened to our "wants". We are extremely pleased with her design, and she continues to proved support during the construction phase. Her costs were reasonable and a small part of the total project cost.

## Community Q&A

**Q: I need the exact dimensions of the inside of the drawers please** *(in Product Questions)*

A: will an 11"x17" sheet of paper fit without bending?

**Q: Complete Master Bath Transformation!** *(in Before & After)*

This client was looking to take an out of date, oddly shaped space and turn it into a modern functional space that better met their needs. The husband is a broad shouldered man and the small cave like shower that existed just didn’t work for him. We worked together and after several design revisions we settled on a floor plan that added closet space to the wife’s master bedroom walk in closet, fixed the odd shape of the original bathroom and gave them the large open shower that they dreamed of. Working together we then got started on the material selection process that developed into the modern spa like feel that you see in the “after” pictures. The floating all drawer vanity design gave the illusion of even more space while offering maximum storage space. Under vanity lighting provided the perfect lighting for middle of the night visits. A high level of contractor/client interaction and communication almost always insures a great outcome.

A: Updated, bright and super spacious! I think it turned out great.

**Q: Looking for suggestions on final house design** *(in Building a Home)*

We are at the final stages of designing our new house in Wisconsin. A bit of background on us: We have 4 children (1 girl, 3 boys) currently aged 6, 4, 2, 1. We plan to stay in this house for the next 30 years until the children have moved out and we retire. House will be about 2700 square feet.
In 8-10 years we plan to add a bedroom and bathroom in the basement.

I know its a very general question but any suggestions for improvements?

Current 1st floor

1st Floor (with some kitchen alterations done by us)

2nd Floor

A: Plan for first floor looks very nice. One suggestion: Cut a notch out of office space to open up entry into family room/ kitchen area. Currently looks a bit cramped and that angled wall in the office is not really that useful when furnishing the room... The few square feet lost in the office and added to the foyer would make for a more gracious entry... Just one opinion, though : )

**Q: What are the dimensions of this front addition - it looks roughly 8' w** *(in Photo Questions)*

Thanks!

A: It's 8'-0" x 4'-0" deep to meet code allowance of a 5' x 10' front porch (including the 12" overhang each side, this maximized the allowable)

**Q: Beautiful!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Who makes the tile surrounding the fireplace and wall?

A: I tried to find something similar to the tile you used, on the INOX website, and didn't see anything close. Where did you get the tile?

**Q: POLL: Dream backyard feature?** *(in Polls)*

If you could create your dream backyard, what is the \#1 feature you would include?

Vote for your favorite backyard feature and COMMENT BELOW WITH HOW YOU USE YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE OR, LET US KNOW YOUR FAVORITE SUMMER ACTIVITY to be entered to win a pair of Houzz slippers sent right to your door!

\*One entry per person, per drawing. Entries must be posted before 12:00am Pacific Time 8/25/13. One winner will be drawn at random.

A: A fire pit automatically creates a social gathering place, especially in the evening after dinner on a warm evening, or a cool evening... and it's a lot less work than a pool.
