> It has been easy to work with Lampert Dias Architects. They continue to be supportive of the creative design process and I am confident that our project will end up just as I hoped for it. I am looking for a unique look for our old beach house and we are really getting there with their help and ideas. I would recommend them for anyone that wants to work with a team that is willing to take a homeowner's ideas and turn them into an award-winning look and design for their home remodel or new construction. My home is 50 years old and it is going to be a wonderful transformation from an old 1970's house to something that is contemporary and unique!

> We highly reccomend Lampert Dias Architects. Christine gave us a brand new kitchen. She listened to us and gave us several blue print choices. She dropped in during the project several times. A delight to work with and we were very happy.

> I have to say that I had reservations about working with another architect as the last one I had on a different project was more interested in making something in their style than mine and I felt like I was somewhat working against them, begging to be heard. NOT the case with Christine Lampert. I am 100% satisfied with my experience in so many ways. Christine is a brilliant architect with a huge portfolio of fantastic buildings in all styles. Our conversations are very productive (she KNOWS what she's talking about!) and she is readily available and responsive. I feel so lucky to have found her and I recommend her to anyone. Designing your dream home should be a joy and she has delivered that as well as a finished product that I can't wait to live in. Thank you Christine!

**★★★★★ — chiikostanfield@gmail.com Stanfield, Feb. 2021**

> A few years ago we purchased a home in southwest San Clemente with excellent potential, but the house clearly needed some work to achieve fully that potential. Since we were new to the area as well as naïve about renovating houses, we looked for a local architect who could both operationalize what we knew we wanted and could help us conceptualize things that we would enjoy, but didn’t have the experience, resourcefulness or vision to come up with on our own. We hit it off instantly with Christine who not only did all of that, but so much more. The plan that Christine and we developed together did not involve enlarging the footprint of our house, but did require extensive renovations to achieve improved space utilization, a more open and flowing LR/DR/kitchen area, an increased number of strategically-placed windows to improve air flow and leverage our external views, and, on a very practical level, a much needed improvement to the insulation to allow us to achieve a very livable space on even the few hot days in San Clemente while expanding the extent of the existing beamed ceiling, a signature feature of our main living area. Christine is a great listener – she was able to understand our goals quickly, come up with a variety of creative yet practical potential approaches and then help us decide which way to proceed. But her expertise and knowledge continued to nurture the project far beyond the design phase. Christine has a vast understanding and experience of how to get a renovation done in San Clemente: she very effectively shepherded the proposal through the city’s approval processes; provided us with recommendations on several excellent local general contractors, suggesting which ones to interview (it was a tough decision, but we are very pleased with the contractor we chose, the Bassett Construction Company); and introduced us to a fantastic local interior designer (Lani Wilson) who worked with Christine and us on every aspect of the ‘final’ touches. The project is now complete and we couldn’t be happier. Christine was professional, creative, practical and flexible with all aspects of the design process, and worked closely with us, Lani and Kirk Bassett of Bassett Construction to ensure that the remodel met all of our needs and preferences and resulted in the livable, open and ‘airy’ aesthetic that we were hoping for. We love our new home and wouldn’t hesitate to give Christine our strongest recommendation possible to anyone considering a renovation in this area.

> It's my wonderful Clients who make it all worthwhile.......this is why I do architecture.

**★★★★★ — Anne Stenton, Feb. 2021**

> My husband and I had a general concept as to how we wanted to remodel our 1950's style single story. Christine, Stephan and Erika have been exceedingly patient with us as we have gone through the process of figuring out exactly what we want. The design options they gave us were exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend!

**★★★★★ — Thuy Lee, Aug. 2017**

> We found Lampert Dias Architects, Inc. 2 months ago. We purchased a single story house built in the 1940 and were looking for an architect that can incorporate the contemporary design elements we desired while still preserving the charm of the original home. Immediately, I was treated to a personal phone call from Christine Lampert. More than other architects we interviewed, Christine understood our ideas and was able to quickly come up with a design that made us feel our dream home can become a reality. Christine and her team were professional, courteous, responsive to our needs and have been a pleasure to work with. She was always available to answer any questions. Christine really listened to our needs and was able to translate those needs into a "dream home". We look forward to our finish project and would highly recommend them!

**★★★★★ — A. Hill, June 2017**

> I have helped build numerous houses in the past and always done the design myself. However, my wife and I were finally in a place to build our dream home we decided to use an architect and were recommended to Chris Lampert. We are so happy we did as the design is far better than anything I could have made (and she showed and explained how certain things I was opposed to were actually a good idea for our house). In sum she did a wonderful job and we are starting to build the house now.

**★★★★★ — Alan Tsuma, March 2017**

> We have enjoyed working with Lampert Dias. I believe Christine and Carolyn make a very good team. We found Christine to be a very competent and practical architect with a good design and technical senses. She is also a very good listener and a joy to work with.
>
> I would recommend Christine Lampert and her firm for any San Clemente architectural project.

**★★★★★ — Aron Taylor, April 2016**

> Lampert Dias did an excellent job guiding us through our home addition and remodel. They prepared the plans and helped us in selecting finishes and materials. We are very happy with the way our project turned out, and we are thankful to Lampert Dias for their help!

**★★★★★ — perry360, March 2016**

> Christine and Carolyn did a fantastic job of designing the interior of my Mom's house in Raleigh, North Carolina.
> They shopped for all of the furniture and accessories and placed everything beautifully. What a great experience we had working with them. They are so professional and yet fun to work with. We knew that we were in good hands with them.

**★★★★★ — margobrown, March 2016**

> I worked with Christine a few years back. She converted our 2bed, one bath into a beautiful home. She was great to work with and helped is get a fantastic general contractor. All who worked on the project are still friends and we love our home.

**★★★★ — sharonjansen, Dec. 2013**

> When we decided to add a guest bedroom to our house, because of previous projects with other architects, our criteria for hiring an architect were a) proper licensing & insurance, b) knowledge & experience with city ordinances & staff, and c) having a CAD program. Lampert Dias Architects was the only company that met that criteria.
>
> We ran into many road blocks with city zoning codes and appeals because our house was built in the early 60s. Christine attended many meetings with city representatives on our behalf. To meet requirements, over 700 SF had to be added and a multi level roof configured. They exceeded expectations on the challenge. With Lampert Dias, you get a real creative advantage. Between Christine and Carolyn, they went the extra mile to capture our vision. Working with them was a pleasure.
>
> The reason our rating is a four rather than five is that there were times when attentions got diverted over many months of getting project approval. Our final result is a five star + and rates WOWs from our family, friends and neighbors. We now count both Christine and Carolyn among our friends and recommend them highly for their quality & creativity.

**★★★★★ — 6013, Aug. 2013**

> After purchasing a small historic “Ole Hanson” home in San Clemente, my husband and I decided to expand it to allow more versatility in its use. We contacted a local real estate agent who specializes in historic homes, and she recommended Lampert Dias Architects. We were very pleased with their service as they were receptive to our general ideas and helped us flesh them out for the detailed drawings on our 980 square foot addition. Since we do not live in San Clemente, we relied on Christine and Carolyn to perform a lot of the leg work for us by meeting with city planners and our contractor. They met deadlines, worked well with the city in responding to the city’s stringent requirements for historic homes, and advocated successfully on our behalf for a design element that was extremely important to us but initially opposed by the city (a roof deck). Once the project was complete, the city highlighted our house in a public service video on the San Clemente cable channel as the “right way” to remodel a historic “Ole Hanson” home. Although the project is now complete, we remain friends with both Christine and Carolyn, and always look forward to getting together with them when we travel to San Clemente.

**★★★★★ — marylross, July 2013**

> Before meeting Christine about remodeling our home we met with several other architects who all said versions of the same thing - "You don't want/can't do that." We had ideas, but it seemed that no one wanted to help us build on them. And then came Christine - what a breath of fresh air she was! Her positive attitude was infectious and inspiring.
>
> Thanks to her, we now live in a home that is better than we could have imagined. It's like living in a five star luxury hotel - it's where friends and relatives come from far and wide to seek respite from their hectic lives. We enjoy our time at home every day because of her and her ability to hear what we said, to understand what we wanted, and her knowledge to actually create it. It is a beautiful and tranquil place.
>
> More recently we have been working with Carolyn. The storefront of our local business needs help, and her insightful work has raised our expectations of what can be done once again. We look forward to what this collaboration will bring to our business as it, too, is made better by the work of Lampert Dias Architects.

**★★★★★ — ortiz4, July 2013**

> I have previously worked with Carolyn on the Manor House on the campus of CSUPomona. This home was built in 1926 so Carolyn was very aware of the historical value we needed to heed. She helped this home become the showplace it was meant to be while managing to make it a comfortable home for my family. I would highly recommend this group!

**★★★★★ — jefrant, July 2013**

> We have had the happy experience to work with this team on 3 phases of our home remodel over a 10 year period with 100% satisfaction. The team is professional, creative, knowledgeable, responsive, reliable, pragmatic, and flexible. We recommend Lampert Dias Architects without reservation.

**★★★★★ — wdbassett, July 2013**

> I began working with Christine as a carpenter and later as a design professional. In the 13 years I’ve known her, she has been incredibly influential as a skillful designer and mentor. Her professionalism and collaborative process proved to be an enjoyable experience from concept sketches through construction.

**★★★★★ — davedowning, July 2013**

> Review done by Dave Downing D.& E. Construction Co.
> I am a general contractor with 36 years experience. I have worked with Lampert and Diaz on several projects. I have found them to be very professional from the bid process all the way through final inspection. They make themselves available for any questions or changes that arise during construction. I have found their plans to be very complete which gives the client an accurate bid during that process. I would recommend Lampert and Diaz to anyone planning a project from an addition to a custom home.

**★★★★★ — Cynthia Capistran, July 2013**

> I have been doing business with Chris and Carolyn for over 25 years. Their knowledge and experience is absolutely fabulous! In these days it is hard to find a business that will work so hard for you with such a great attitude, and integity! I highly recommend them!

**★★★★★ — crssconsulting, July 2013**

> I was the engineer in charge of the structural design on a few projects with Lampert-Dias Architects in the past year. It was a pleasure working with them. They are knowledgeable about structural needs and know how to integrate their architectural design to accommodate the structural in an efficient way. This is a great asset specially when doing house remodels. It saves the clients time and money.

**★★★★★ — Cindy Conrad, July 2013**

> Our remodel was very simple in scope, but Christine and Carolyn tackled it with enthusiasm and a keen eye to small details and our home is now beautiful, inside and out. They worked well with our contractor and helped us make this a very fun and productive experience.

**★★★★★ — Marilyn Ditty, July 2013**

> Lampert Dias Architects were responsible for the beautiful and one of a kind Senior Center in San Clemente. It is a remarkable building and looks almost like a mission but very functional.

## Community Q&A

**Q: toddler bed - car shaped** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi there , where does the car shaped bed come from? looks cool!

A: I don't know where that bed came from. My client furnished the bedroom.
However, I do know that you can order similar ones on Wayfair.com and they will deliver to your house.

**Q: Brick look backsplash** *(in Home Decorating)*

I really want a brick look backsplash in the kitchen. The only things I can find with the look I like are wallpaper that's very gauche and fake looking up close. Any ideas where I can get this look for a reasonable price? (And no wallpaper unless it's raised/textured and actually realistic.) The backsplash would be in the normal area between countertop and cupboards, but also the entire wall behind the stove.

A: Most tile stores should have a thin brick for backsplashes. Try Home Depot or a local tile shop. You can also google "brick tile backsplashes" to see who has it near you.

**Q: What color would you do the siding on this house?** *(in Windows)*

we will be residing, new windows and doors. What would you do to make it look more modern. Should I add different type of siding (horizontal, vertical) to make it look more interesting? We are also thinking of changing the bump out window from the diamond shape to square.
thank you all for your suggestions!

A: green

**Q: Should I go with 60 inch or 72 inch electric fireplace on 22 foot wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The wall is between 22 and 23 feet, should I go with 60 inch or 72 inch electric fireplace and how would you place it? I'm thinking of centering over the outlet shown, but wasn't sure if wood look right not being exactly centered on the wall. Thanks for the suggestions!

A: I would center it on the part of the room with the higher ceiling. Also I would use the smaller size.

**Q: gutter collector box** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Our house is 2 story white cape cod style with white gutters. We are replacing gutters with white again. We are wanting to add gutter collector boxes . Is it appropriate to make the gutter collector boxes white as well?

A: Yes, it is probably ok. You could also use copper.
It would be helpful to see a photo of your house to see the color of the house, the trim and the windows...........

**Q: Best depth of shower with bench?** *(in Remodeling)*

I'm planning a 72x44 inch shower. There will just be one showerhead and I'm hoping to move controls to opposite side (and door as well).

I like the idea of a 12 inch bench along the back length of the wall - both for aesthetics and as a place to put my legs when shaving. I don't think we'd sit there. That would reduce floor depth of shower to 30. One contractor told me he thinks that will feel too tight - but I feel like the majority of the space needed/used is above the bench and that will still feel ample.

Any thoughts here? I have debated getting a teak bench but my husband isn't crazy about the idea.

A: Teak benches are so much better than built in benches. I have been recommending them to my clients.
