Everyone at DuBro is not only an expert, but very kind and accommodating. At all stages of the process, we were given great design options that incorporated our ideas; we were never pressured to choose any particular level of scope or cost. We ended up taking on more than we thought possible, and are simply thrilled with the results. The whole house is transformed! What was a small 1940’s house with a disproportionately open and large addition, is now a well-balanced and integrated living space that is more welcoming, has much better flow, and is brighter and more pleasant to be in. The sense of proportion Jeff was able to bring to the different areas of the house is definitely the most impressive aspect of the renovation. Though it is the same house and the same footprint we started with, the transformed space feels like a totally new and up-to-date home. This was a leap into the unknown for us, but DuBro made it easy, painless and (dare I say it) fun. Jeff and the team came to us with some great initial suggestions, including a theme to carry througout the whole house which was very subtle but tied everything together. They were able to incorporate all our ideas and preferences into the greater theme, and gave us so much more than we could have envisioned on our own. One particular aspect that thrilled us was the way Jeff and team facilitated the selection of materials and finishes. We expected to be told to head down to the local tile shop and pick a couple we liked from the thousands on offer (and the same for cabinet materials, hardware, flooring, paint, etc). Much to our delight, Jeff and team started us off with a small series of "vignettes" of combinations of these items, and we were merely required to tell them which we preferred, and then we tweaked them from there. This was a really great way to make the process work quickly and easily, but without the feeling of missing out on any options. It worked really well for us. Similarly, when it came to appliance selection. Jeff navigated us through the process and provided his wisdom along the way. > > Despite being a six month project, the work was done on time and to an extremely high level of quality. Jeff and his team were a delight to work with, both the office-based folks, and the crew on site. We completely customized our kitchen (cabinets, etc.), so there were many choices to make. What really impressed us about the DuBro team was their level of commitment to helping us through each decision. They truly spent as much time with us as we needed (explaining pros and cons of each decision). This made us much more comfortable with the process and confident in all of our decisions, whether big (design, large appliances) or small (cabinet hardware, etc.). My biggest surprise was how much I enjoyed working with DuBro, throughout the design and construction process, especially after hearing so many renovation horror stories. > > Key points: > (1) Design Process: The design process was fun, very iterative and interactive, which worked well for me, and resulted in a house that I love, with a pricetag I could afford. Jeff DuBro and his team really listened to me. DuBro and his staff handled all projects big and small, emergency and non-emergency. The list of tasks they accomplished seems endless. They coordinated historic window permitting and replacement, installed a new gutter and drainage system to solve a recurrent flooding problem, re-pointed the bricks, designed and installed kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, painting, landscaping, repaired the roof, soothed residents, replaced doors, skylights, etc. The list could go on and on. Everything was always done with such incredible care, thoroughness, trustworthiness and professionalism. A: West Elm **Q: which hardware finish is this in this picture ?** *(in Photo Questions)* I can not tell if it is polished or not. If polished, does that mean it does not show prints? A: Hi, are you talking about the golden color on the microwave? I believe it is polished . I would suggest the matte black option, unless you intend to use a gold/brass finish somewhere else in the kitchen.
