> I've had the pleasure of working along side Donna off and on for almost 25 years now. She taught me everything I know about design and as someone who was new to the industry....I have been forever grateful to absorb her knowledge. I've always been impressed with her vast experience in the industry but even more impressive is her ability to have her finger on the pulse of what's NEW in design. She knows how to really listen to her clients as well as educate and guide them through their design experience. She is professional, innovative, knowledgable and inspiring......a true gem.

> Any project Donna takes on, you can be certain Architectural Digest will want it to grace their pages. Donna's style & taste are impeccable and she settles for nothing but perfection. Her attention to detail is unsurpassed and she always has fantastic innovative ideas. Any home she touches becomes a work of art, down to the shampoo bottles. When Donna is done transforming your home, you will not know which room you like best, and you will never want to move. It's no wonder she's been featured in countless publications year after year & named Top Designer in Architectural Digest. Donna has a gift of making a home feel luxurious, sophisticated, unique and comfortable while incorporating the clients personality. Not only is Donna thoughtful in her design, but she is thoughtful in life. She is the most loyal, warm, kindhearted, generous spirit with an incredible sense of humor, which makes working with her the best & most fun experience anyone could hope for. She has an ability to connect with all walks of life, and anyone who meets her can't help but love her. This is also evident in how strong all her relationships are with her many vendors, as they will always go that extra mile for her, which additionally serves to maximize Donna's effectiveness with her clients. I feel so honored, proud and privileged to have worked & learned from Donna & her team for 7 years, and can guarantee nothing but a 5 star experience if you work with her.

**★★★★★ — gdp4ams, Oct. 2016**

> When I bought a new home in the Hamptons several years ago I was overwhelmed with everything that had to be done. Being a busy Realtor I had little time or patience to do what need to be done to transform the drab house I bought to the showplace that I envisioned. Donna simplified the process and quickly had all elements in place to create a beautiful and comfortable home. From color selection, to picking wall coverings, to installing custom carpets and bespoke furniture, Donna was efficient and insightful and naturally it was all tied together by her inherent sense of style. I would have been lost without her and recommend her to anyone needing a design expert who was also pleasure to work with.

**★★★★★ — kevinbrewerton, Oct. 2016**

> Donna Livingston is nothing less than a design guru. I've had the opportunity to see her work over the course of several years. She consults me regarding home gym equipment. Her attention to detail and complete commitment to her client, along with her vast experience is second to none.

**★★★★★ — Mark Boone, Oct. 2016**

> One of the most respected and admired designers in our industry, Donna epitomizes a professional designer. Well versed in all aspects of design—from the complex knowledge required for ground-up construction, selecting the best furnishings, to scouting out that perfect unexpected, finishing touch-- Donna’s talents run deep. Trustworthy, beautiful, smart and kind, I’m honored to work with her as a colleague and to call her a dear and loyal friend.

**★★★★★ — TARA MICKEL DESIGN, Aug. 2016**

> Donna Livingston has an amazing eye for detail, only the best quality items are selected and customized for your space. She is most excellent in building from the ground up but she can also turn any ordinary space into a wonderful place to live, relax and visit.

**★★★★★ — Emanuel Morez, Inc., June 2016**

> Emanuel Morez and Donna Livingston have a 20+ year history of crafting beautiful furniture together. It is always inspiring to work with Donna. Every piece we have done together has come out beautifully and is a testament to how good she is as a designer. -Amos

## Community Q&A

**Q: Progress on our 150+ year old small-town home** *(in Flooring)*

My wife and I are remodeling a house in small-town central Pennsylvania. The house dates back to at least 1861, according to the earliest town maps we can find.
There's a basement that opens on the sidewalk of Main Street; a first floor with a main entrance, two front rooms, a laundry and full bath, and a kitchen that we haven't done anything with yet and a family room/addition in back that we've done some work in; a second floor with two bedrooms and the main bathroom; and a third floor attic that's been converted into dormitory-type beds. A first-floor foyer (pictured below) and full-house stairwell tie everything together.
The house is a weekend/vacation place for now, and is going to be our retirement home (we're in our mid-late 50s). As the year's drawing to a close, new siding and a rebuilt wraparound elevated porch are nearing completion.
I did a slideshow with some before and after pictures, and wanted to share. We're ready to enjoy what we have for a while, take a breath (and save some more cash!), and settle in to plan the next phase.

Slideshow (Music is Holst's 1st Suite for Military Band, 1st Movement: Chaconne)

A: I just saw the slideshow and I'm already liking the transformation pictures!! I'm excited for you and your wife's journey in remodeling your home!

**Q: Tall fireplace and no mantle - Christmas decorating ideas?** *(in Home Decorating)*

We are moving into a contemporary home in the spring. As I decorate my transitional home this year (with a fireplace and mantle), I'm wondering about ideas for next year. We will have a tall (20 foot) fireplace but no mantle. What are some options for decorating the fireplace and ideas for other locations to hang stockings?
TIA

A: I agree with the user above, hanging a big wreath on top of the mantle would be a nice Christmas decoration. Also, if you have stairs, putting your Christmas stockings on the railing, or hanging it up on bedroom doors would be an ideal location!

**Q: carpet with gray walls** *(in Flooring)*

I've painted my living room SW Requisite Gray. My fireplace has a mix of gray and brown tone stone. I am having a difficult time picking out carpet. any suggestions??

A: I agree with Sophie Wheeler, if it is possible you should do wood instead of carpet!

**Q: Help can't make it look pulled togsther** *(in Design Dilemma)*

A: If it is possible, maybe changing the rug to a lighter color as one user suggested. I think it would make the space come together a little bit more!

**Q: Need help to update living room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi all. We bought this house about a year ago and could use some help in arranging furniture and maybe some ideas for paint, I am considering doing the wall behind the tv a different color as an accent wall. I know our furniture was not bought for this space but we need to work with what we have for now. (And the round chair we usually have where the Christmas tree is). Any and all advice is appreciated!

A: Having an accent wall will definitely liven up the space of the living room. You can have darker colored accent wall, like dark gray or blue, or a lighter colored accent wall, like orange or green. You can also have a print of some sort (like a wallpaper) as an accent wall, as well. Pick something that you think would be eye catching.

**Q: TV OVER FIREPLACE?** *(in Polls)*

We have a large family room. I am thinking of installing a 75" tv over our fireplace. Husband thinks it should be on the wall. What are you thoughts? We are stuck. Besides looking up, what are the cons? Do you have a tv over fireplace and do you like it?

A: Many people have TV's over the fireplace and honestly it's personal choice. I, myself, do not have a TV over the fireplace, but if I did, I would inset into the drywall to give it a uniformed, neat look.
