> Our house is 107 years old, full of beautiful architectural details.  We wanted a kitchen design professional who could incorporate the overall feel of the house within the kitchen area.  Mike Smith of Artistic Kitchens was recommended.  When the house was originally built, the kitchen area was used purely for function.  We wanted our kitchen not only functional, but updated, and family friendly.  Mike took his cue from an existing cupboard and began. Many elements used in our cabinetry are present within the house and cleverly incorporated into the overall design.  Cabinets are tall,  10' 5" from floor to ceiling,  beautifully made solid wood construction, bringing me more storage space than I ever dreamed.  A laundry chute that had been concealed for over 25 years was opened and made functional again.  He and his staff, worked well with my general contractor in order to get the work completed in a timely manner.  Every change was evaluated between the kitchen designer, general contractor and me (homeowner).  Good people to work with and the cost of the cabinets were on budget.  I would highly recommend Mike Smith of Artistic Kitchens.

> I am the manager at Bonnycastle Appliance & TV. I work with many different cabinet companies here in Louisville and I will rate Artistic Kitchens among the elite. Mike Smith does beautiful kitchens however I believe his strength is connecting with his customers which ensures they get their dream kitchen. I often see problems with some of the other companies such as cabinets built with the wrong dimensions to the point the appliances don't fit or custom panels that are not made correctly however I don't have those experiences with Artistic Kitchens. They are very detailed to be sure everything is done correctly. Artistic Kitchens also has a great staff that are a pleasure to work with. I can see him being a standout in this industry for many years to come.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Range hood** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi, what is the size and reference of this range hood please?

A: 42" Vent a hood

**Q: Freaking out about counter-depth fridge sticking out past pantry cabs!** *(in Kitchens)*

My cabinets are all custom built.  The cabinet makers had the specs to all of my appliances.  Pantry cabinets will flank both sides of fridge and are 24" deep.  Doors will add 7/16" to that.
Fridge is stainless steel but the sides are black.  It is 24 3/8" deep and needs 1" of clearance in the back.  They are telling me I'm going to see about an inch of the side of the fridge.  I'm NOT happy about that. They  basically said that the standard is 24" for a counter depth fridge and that's what they use.
Umm... my cabinets are CUSTOM. They had the specs.  Am I wrong to push them to fix this?

A: LOL..  Oldest problem in the world..

I tell my clients, INTEGRATED is the definition of what you are trying to achieve.. and if the refrigerator doesn't cost about $8000 and up, it will not be INTEGRATED..

A: I don't know that brand.. I almost always spec vent-a-hood
