> Reviewing the plans and ideas I am excited about building a new home. I must have character and charm, functional but small. Wow! Just Wow!!!!

**★★★★★ — Risinger Homes, May 2012**

> My company built the Springdale Farms house that Rauser Designed. They are incredibly talented architects and I would highly recommend them. They are practical, creative, knowledgable, and just plain fun to work with. One other essential to their firm is the ability to work with a very tough Austin planning/permitting process. Amazing people!

## Selected projects

- [Perfect Wall House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/perfect-wall-house-pj-vj~1608514)
  - Location: Austin, TX
  - Photos: 13
  - Description: A triumph of building science and design. Building on the principles outlined by Joe Lstiburek, the wall and roof systems pushes the insulation to the outside allowing the framing to be exposed. What follows is an exercise in simplification, editing out non-essential systems and materials. All materials have been chosen for their durability and that they will age beautifully.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Insulation?** *(in Photo Questions)*

With the framing bays exposed, how do you handle insulation?

A: That's a great question! For the full explanation see this video:

**Q: Hi what kind of wood stove is that? Thanks!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The steel pedestal is custom made by our hard-working and talented artisans in Austin, TX!

**Q: I'm in love with every aspect of this house!** *(in Photo Questions)*

No question, I just wanted to say that! I keep adding photos to my ideabook and keep realizing after the fact that they're from the same house!! Love love love it! Great work!

A: Thank you!

**Q: Floors** *(in Photo Questions)*

Your floors are beautiful! What product did you use to fill the holes? We have also just installed reclaimed hardwood floors and are confused about what product to use!

A: We filled the knot holes with black epoxy prior to sanding. It may seem strange, but black helps the knots be less noticeable.

**Q: What are the dimensions of the columns?** *(in Photo Questions)*

They are I-beams, right? Thanks!

A: The columns are roughly 4"x4". The are called W4x13 if you are getting them a steel supplier.

**Q: Are the upper cabinets painted the same SW pure white as the walls?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Yes!
