**Q: Is this a wood burning stove?  What brand model?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This is a wood burning stove, but unfortunately we do not know the model.

**Q: Construction contracts** *(in Other)*

We are getting bids to construct a new house on property that we own.
What is the best way to compare contracts?  I want to make sure we are comparing "apples to apples".

A: Are you comparing contracts or bids? I would suggest hiring a lawyer or someone knowledgable in the workings of the residential construction industry. Contracts can be difficult to compare because each contractor may have a slightly different way of doing business or intentions with wording. Someone who has experience in the industry will be able to have a general knowledge of how things should be done, and will be able to offer advice and look for any key signifiers to watch out for. 

If you are looking for how to compare bids, it is important to understand that the level of detail in the plans hugely impacts the variance in pricing. The more detailed the plans, the easier and more accurate the pricing between the contractors. It could be helpful to provide your own template for the contractors to use so the bids can be seen on a level playing fields.

**Q: Curb appeal** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I would like to modernize siding color and garage doors. I need help with colors and maybe a change at entry way or front of house?

A: I agree that the focal point should be on the front door, not on the garage, although I it shouldn't be ignored. Given its unique, modern form, I think the colors and materials should match that aesthetic. How about a charcoal for the majority of the house, with natural wood siding for the facade with the garage doors, similar to what Denita suggested in the photos. I might also suggest to redesign the entry so that the porch cover is flat, not slanted with some nice warm lighting and extend the porch to give it more of a presence. If you have the budget, I would suggest a new garage door and perhaps new roofing, since the roof is very visible in the appearance of the house. Good luck with your project!

**Q: Tiny House Exterior Need Help!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This is my first home. I don't have a huge budget to work with, but would like to make the exterior of the house look nicer. Any ideas are appreciated! Pictures would be awesome!

A: I think a nice craftsman sytle front porch would be great on a house like this. It adds dimension to the front of the house and maybe some landscaping to go with it. If you have the budget I would change the front door and maybe paint it a gray, similar to what houssaon suggested.

Is the bedspread vintage? Or can it be purchased.

A: @jean20000 as much as we would love to answer your question, we do not know where the homeowner procured the bedspread.  They typically work with an interior designer but this could have easily been bought at a store.
