These are challenging times to do a reno and a 45 year old home also presents its own set of issues. We took possession of our “new”house” at the end of April and the reno took 3 months. We moved in at the end of July. > Alec’s team of quality trades were up to the task. They helped us navigate through the complex issues and come up with affordable solutions. They were also able to handle a number of scope change issues that arose during the project. We love our new reconfigured kitchen and family room space. This also involved demolishing the old garage while salvaging the bricks which matched the house to use when building the new garage. This was no ordinary garage and was part of a major re-landscaping of the entire property. I also hired Alec to help rebuild our house after the 2013 flood where our property had two meters of water flowing past our house which incurred 100% damage to the basement and significant damage to the first floor. Of note, the new garage was so well built it only required drying out and some new insulation and wall board. Alec and his team were a pleasure to work with as both these projects evolved as they progressed. They were both professional and creative. Alec always had a good handle on costs incurred and projected. I do not know what we would have done without him after the flood. Our home was flooded through the ground floor and the fully finished custom basement had to be gutted and the ground floor torn out to four feet from floor level. This required extensive rebuilding including all mechanical (two furnace, underfloor heating boiler and control panel, etc.), new electrical panel and basement rewiring, sump pump and plumbing repairs. The ground floor required new hardwood floors, custom millwork repairs, drywall and painting. The project took six months. During this period Alec was highly supportive and very responsive, this despite the fact that he was overwhelmed with other work as a result of the floods. Alec is very professional, a good listener, a creative problem solver and utterly trustworthy. The quote was detailed and it came in one time and amazingly right in the middle of the budget range he gave us. He even uses Microsoft project to manage the project.
