> Bellingham Bay Builders did an excellent job on the build of our Silver Residence. Dave, Justin and the rest of the team at BBB worked passionately on the project in adverse weather and site conditions. Their craft and attention to detail resulted in a stunning final product.

**★★★★★ — Radley Muller Photography, March 2021**

> As a professional Architectural photographer, I get the opportunity to photograph numerous projects. I will say that Bellingham Bay Builders provides their clients with an exceptional quality that is rarely seen these days. Many builders are not as diligent in projects, but BBB seems to go the extra mile to make a difference. The attention to details, tying in the clients personality to the projects and seeing first hand to the repour they have, makes me feel they have been life long friends & not just clients.

**★★★★★ — Barbara Schickler, Sept. 2019**

> In rating BBB, both my husband and I felt this company had the knowledge and the ability to complete such a demanding and unique project that involved problem solving, artistry and collaboration which was accomplished with all the professionalism a group could have. There were some challenging turns to completing the project , but they were met with proposed deadlines and even though the project went over budget, we are very happy with the work quality and the results. Thank- you for building such a wonderful environmentally friendly house and would recommend you to any one interested in building a residential home.

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Thanks for your kind words Barb. I continue to appreciate both your's and Sandy's commitment to building a beautiful and incredibly high-performing home. It has so many elements that set it apart from being a net positive energy producer to the finely detailed interior finishes. It will always hold a place in my nerdy builder heart. Dave

> Quality People. Quality Workmanship.
> Bellingham Bay Builders (BBB) built our dream home and we couldn't be more pleased with the experience and the outcome. We enjoyed every step on the journey and we recommend them without any reservation.
> The team at BBB is first class. Every person involved in our job provided outstanding workmanship with the highest level of professionalism, integrity and care. It is rare to find a company like BBB that matches it's interest in exceeding customer expectations with a strong belief in giving back to the community and creating ownership opportunities for its employees.
> Working with BBB to build our new home was a gratifying experience for us. We received all the support and guidance needed throughout the project. They are a wonderful group to work with and we highly recommend meeting with them to discuss your project.

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Thanks for the kind words you two. It was a great pleasure to work with you this past year. Your house has already proved to be inspiration for a few newer projects that are getting started. Looking forward to seeing the finished photos. Sweet to see the shot of Loomis.

**★★★★★ — Haven Design Workshop, July 2018**

> We have worked with Bellingham Bay Builders on several sustainable, high end, custom home projects and have really enjoyed their attitude and approach. Dave B. is an approachable, hard working, team player that communicates well with the clients and subcontractors and each project results in a beautiful home and happy clients.
>
> We will continue recommending our clients work with Bellingham Bay Builders on their custom projects!
> Sean Hegstad, HAVEN Design Workshop - Architect

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Sean, the feelings are mutual. The Northshore project is wrapping up this week and is a real stunner. Also just found out it passed the DOE Zero Energy Ready Home and Energystar final inspections with outstanding scores. Thanks for putting out great designs. -Dave

**★★★★★ — Marc Frazer, June 2018**

> Bellingham Bay replaced 14 large windows for us in a difficult-to-reach location and designed a better weather proofing scheme than was previously in place. They also rebuilt a roof that needed re-sloping and installed more effective insulation. In both cases they talked us through the pros and cons of potential solutions and came in on budget and on time for the approach we selected. We found them to be reliable and the quality of the work is excellent. We are now contemplating building a new house in a different location and Bellingham Bay was first on our list to consult about the project. We have confidence in their judgement and expertise and would not hesitate to hire them again.

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Thanks Marc, it was great fun working with you. I am looking forward to your upcoming project!

**★★★★★ — Pat C, June 2018**

> Dave Brogan and the team at BBB are FANTASTIC! We have worked with them on several projects and recommend them without reservation. Their work is very high quality and their company is very high integrity. (They really live up to their company values!) All of the BBB folks with whom we've worked are great listeners and wonderful problem solvers, able to address design needs and budget interests at the same time.

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Thanks Pat, the great thing about a project is the excuse to spend time with you all. I'm really looking forward to this one as you and your family will get to enjoy it for years to come.

**★★★★★ — Greg Robinson Architect, Oct. 2017**

> As an architect who has worked with BBB on several projects I give them my highest recommendation. They approach every project in a professional manner, are good communicators, and treat their clients with respect. Besides all that they are excellent craftsmen, at every level of the company, who take great joy and pride in their work.

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Thanks Greg. It's always a joy working with you. - Dave

**★★★★★ — Karen Mueller, Feb. 2017**

> We discovered Bellingham Bay Builders at the Home Show in 2015. We wanted to build a green home using salvaged and green materials with builders who were passionate and knowledgeable about that kind of building. They showed us photos of a beautiful LEED home they had rebuilt and we were impressed with their depth and breadth of experience. We found them to be accommodating and easy to work with. We brought together a team of BBB and our designer, Dan Welch (bundle design) and enjoyed the process of creating and modifying the designs according to the strengths and experiences of each team member.
> Our job included two phases: phase one was the teardown of a large attached garage with basement living quarters, and the put-back of the roof and walls of the home. BBB took this challenge on and worked seamlessly with the RE-Store demolition team, helping direct and guide the tear-down. They did a great job of reusing materials and siding to make the put-back of the home look natural.
> Our new home is currently under construction. We are really pleased to have used tons of salvaged wood including lovely beams which allowed BBB to show off their well-honed joinery skills. The building materials are state-of-the-art and already performing well. We are thrilled that our home is set to meet our goal of net-zero energy! BBB's enthusiastic and skilled owners and employees have made the building process really enjoyable and I look forward every day to seeing what they have accomplished.

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Thanks Karen,
>
> It is fun to see the pictures of the Roxul exterior insulation with the snow in the foreground. Now that we are getting ready to start installing the interior finish and fixtures I am excited to see it all come together. Yours and Dan's commitment to building a high performance home is truly inspiring, I'm confident it will pay dividends for years to come. As you enjoy the added comfort, healthy air, and low maintenance in the coming years. Looking forward to the upcoming months!

> Bellingham Bay Builders, working with my Kitchen Designer, gutted and rebuilt my kitchen. They took out a step in my living/dining room to make it all one level which involved laying down a new hardwood floor. They put in a hardwood floor in my family room and installed new sliding glass patio doors. They did an overall excellent job. They are very reliable. Jeff Mack who did most of the work showed up everyday, on time. They even helped when my hot water heater failed and flooded the lower floor on a Friday evening. They helped me find a plumper to replace the hot water heater and brought over blowers to place under the hallway rug that got soaked to dry it out. My kitchen remodel involved bringing in a Liquid Propane line for my new stove and plumbing to put a sink in the island. The only glitch was when they installed the exhaust pipe for my stove. My plans called for a 12" pipe, but a 6" pipe was installed. My husband caught the mistake and the 12" pipe was put in. Since, then Dave Brogan has been the person whom I have called when I needed advice. He helped us when we needed to address water leaking into our lower garage. We plan to remodel our Master Bath and will have BBB do the work without hesitation.

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Linda, Thanks for your kind words. I had forgot what your kitchen looked like before the remodel, what a great change. Marshall and yourself did a great job with the design. We look forward to talking with you about the master bedroom.
> Dave

**★★★★★ — Linda Versage, Dec. 2016**

> Bellingham Bay Builders is an outstanding company to work with and I can’t say enough good things about our experience working with them! Over a one-year period in 2013-2014, they did a total remodel of our 1920’s farm house on the 20-acre farm we had just purchased. The house had been neglected for many years so it was demolished down to the studs. Recycling the waste and reusing building materials were important to us as well as BBB so they helped orchestrate this.
>
> Because we are in a flood plain, the house was lifted and there were many county and federal regulations and details to attend to. BBB managed all the utilities that were replaced with expertise such as a new mound septic system, new underground electrical, plumbing and drainage systems. Because we had plans to also develop farm outbuildings in the future, the utilities required a lot planning. Dave, our project manager, and Jeff our on-site lead, were so helpful in thinking through what was needed. BBB also helped us create a very tight insulation package. Our home is warm and efficient.
>
> I must say that I do not know how Dave so seamlessly and calmly managed all the details of our project, along with other projects that he was working on. He always made us feel like we were his only project! Both Dave and Jeff are very good listeners with great follow-through.
>
> The real magic of the crew was in the craftsmanship of rebuilding the house itself. Our home is stunning! The skill and attention to the smallest details by Jeff and the rest of on-site crew was superb. My husband and I are pretty picky and we tried hard to keep to a design theme that gave honor to a 1920’s farm house, was complimentary to the views we have out of every window and, as much as possible, used local and sustainable materials. I loved the creative process of coming up with an idea and running it past Jeff or Dave to see if they could figure out how to make it happen. Between them, Daniel and others on site, they always figured it out! And they did it with pleasure! BBB has timber-framing experience and we happily incorporated repurposed exposed beams into our home. Watching the guys work together as a team to put the beams in place was a joy. They also brought to our attention the shiplap they found under the sheetrock during demolition and asked us if we wanted to re-use it for some of our finished walls. We were thrilled!
>
> Another jewel of this team is that they are positive happy people who are fun to be around! I never tired of them being at our place and indeed was sad when they weren’t around to interact with each day. After working with contractors on a very complicated project for a year, it’s a testament to the company that we now consider them friends and we are genuinely happy when we run into one of them. We walk around our house in awe at how blessed we are to have such a solid, efficient and beautiful home thanks to Bellingham Bay Builders.

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Thanks so much Linda. Everyday on site was a real treat with the beautiful view, amazing birdwatching, and of course the inspiring project. Can't wait to sneak away to Blanchard Mtn. Farm for an overnight visit. Dave

**★★★★★ — Ralph Sisco, Nov. 2016**

> Complete remodel of an older home. BBB did a great job in preserving the character of house while blending in new construction. They were involved in pre-planning & design, and offered many creative ideas and solutions. They were flexible, innovative & resilient during construction and built a home that we enjoy very much. There were very few needs post-construction, and BBB responded in a prompt, satisfactore manner. Highly Recommend.

**Comment from Bellingham Bay Builders:**

> Thanks Ralph. We had a great time working with you two on your place. I remember walking through with you guys talking about your plans when it was still functioning as a student rental. What a transformation! It has been a lot of fun to see your retaining walls and landscape take shape over the last year or two, great job. Dave

## Community Q&A

**Q: Can you share where you bought the entry way bench & snake plant pots?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Trying to style a similar space in my entryway. Thanks so much.

A: Hi Suzy,

Sorry, the homeowner found those after we completed the project. Best of luck, Dave

**Q: Railing Info** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the source of the botanical-style railings on either side of the front porch? Love them :)

A: Hi Holly,

I'm not sure, the homeowner installed those after we completed the project. They do have some friends in the metal fabrication business, it could have been a custom job.

**Q: Kitchen cabinets** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the kitchen cabinets. Can you tell me the wood species and stain?

A: Hi Joan,

The cabinets are clear-finished Maple plywood. No stain. Best of luck, Dave

**Q: Paneled doors** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the doors. Can you tell me where they're from?

A: Hi Joan,
I believe they came from either Rogue Valley Doors or Simpson Doors, not sure. Best of luck, Dave

**Q: what color us this door?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What color is this Doerr?

A: Hi Audley,

That is a clear, vertical-grain Douglas Fir door with a clear polyurethane varnish. Douglas Fir ages to a warm patina over the first 6-12 months due to UV exposure.

Dave

**Q: Hi, What stain did you use for front door (color and brand)? Thanks** *(in Photo Questions)*

I would like to replicate

A: Hi Kelly,
That is just a clear lacquer or polyurethane finish over a Clear, Vertical-Grain Douglas Fir door. The orangeish-red color continues to develop on Douglas Fir as it ages and is exposed to sunlight. Dave
