We reached out to Carolina and they weren’t quite sure what the cause was, whether is was a weak piece of granite or an issue with the box design. They came back out and replaced the granite top and waterfall edges but ended up cracking off some of the side stone, which they just laid back in place without securing with cement. > > Less than 3 weeks later we were around the fire pit with some friends when we all heard a pop. The granite top cracked again in the exact same location as the first time. > > We reached back out to Carolina, who as one would expect, was not very excited to hear from us again. Since the granite cracked in the EXACT same location we asked if there was a fault with the box design, leading to excessive pressure or heat in one location? This was quickly dismissed by Carolina, stating that they have never had issues with their box designs but she promised they will come out a replace it one more time for us. We weren’t sure that would resolve the issue since it cracked twice in the same spot! > > Fast forward almost 2 years later and we have yet to see any resolution from Carolina. I text her every few months asking for an update and we get nothing. We even asked her for some recommendations to seal the crack to prevent it from expanding during the colder months but we have still not heard anything from her. > > For a $5k+ custom fire we hoped we would get some help in resolving this issue that clearly seems to be a manufacturing defect. My wife and I own a small business and we understand that sometimes things just go wrong. However, it is how you deal with those problems and your client service that makes or breaks these situations. > > Sadly, Carolina has failed in this department. The reason it took us so long to write this review is because we believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt, hoping they will do the right thing.
