Rusty was so professional, enthusiastic, had so many great ideas, and seemed genuinely invested in improving the appearance of the front of my house. I was ready to go ahead, but on a whim, I asked him for an estimate to do a brick arched entryway. Best thing I ever did!!! The design he presented was magnificent! It reminded me of that found on quality, older homes—elegant and appropriate. Rusty was so very patient while we debated whether we could afford the project. But once we spent the time to contemplate, it was a no-brainer. Nothing else would do. Once we decided, Rusty, and Jon, the best contractor anywhere, gathered the most talented and delightful crew! > Rusty and Linda were absolutely incredible to work with. Rusty came in to our remodel with a clear vision and game plan and Linda has been nothing but helpful throughout the entire process. My wife and I removed a main wall separating our den and kitchen, extended our kitchen out and added a master suite off the backside of our house. We painted the entire interior and exterior, refinished all our hardwood floors, and had a privacy fence installed. We began construction on Nov 1 and were able to move in on April 7. He stayed on budget and anything that happened to be a little bit over, made sure to call and confirm we were good with the cost. This was our first remodel so we didnt really know how everything worked and Rusty was very patient with us and answered all our stupid questions, even after work hours or first thing in the morning. I would highly recommend Rusty and R&R Construction. I will definitely be calling them back for any future needs we will have.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Roofing experts:  Best roof shingle for "true black"?** *(in Remodeling)*

Any suggestions for the best asphalt roofing shingles for a true solid black roof?  Not looking for "depth," "texture," or "contrast."  Rather a nice uniform black in the darkest shade possible for a modern look.
We've looked at Certainteed Black and Moire Black and the samples leave us a little underwhelmed.  Not even clear which is supposed to be the darker shade of the two.

A: Your best bet is a 25 year, 3 tab, GAF black shingle. "not charcoal" but black shingle.  I hope this helps.

A: Correct on the Oak floor.  Yes, it was custom mixed onsite for the homeowner.

A: I believe it was called "dove white"

A: It is red oak.  I agree, we use it a lot.

My house located in Mountain Brook  is very similar to the before picture of this house and it needs a face lift

A: Thank you for the inquiry.  There are many variables that have to be considered.  Materials used, are windows being replaced, if so same size openings?  I would be more than happy to come out and see what you have in mind and get the process started.
