Contract as written was full of errors. I rejected the contract within 2 days (3 days review period was provided) and provided my comments for the update. Woodcraft did not agreed to full terms and conditions as redlined. > In summary, I did not agree to the contract as originally agreed. Now, woodcraft is asking that I pay for the time they spent? Otherwise, save yourself the trouble and go with someone else. > > Where do I begin? > > First off, we signed a contract in September and was told 6-8 weeks out from a build. No communication. Eventually was told in November that we were delayed by two weeks ... then heard nothing until January when they "moved" locations. After mentioning this to them, we were magically scheduled for a build the next week when we specifically asked to not build in winter. They didn't care. > > Dave is a great sales manager but terrible project manager. He has stated he doesn't really check emails, doesn't really return calls and is super hard to get a hold of. If I had a dollar for the excuses he gave us, I could pay off the deck. > > They asked for payment upon completion, but the city didn't pass us on inspection so the build wasn't complete. They never told us and cashed the check anyway. After asking for the passed permit (for weeks mind you) and us physically checking with the city, we found out it wasn't approved. Again, no communication they were going to address the issues or that it wasn't approved. > > Oh and they will tell you they will lay down plywood to protect your grass from the trucks, but then they won't because they decided the permafrost was hard enough to drive on so it would be fine - and then it ruins your grass. Because of a clause in their contract, any damage to sprinklers or grass isn't their problem. > > I can keep going on and on about how terrible this company is. They even mentioned "attorney" on a call because we stated we wouldn't pay the final amount until work was completed (per their contract). We had the check waiting for over a month waiting to pay, but they took their time coming to complete payment. When the fascia started to warp, I contacted Trex. after sending them pictures they said our fascia was installed incorrectly and should go to Woodcraft. After one year, with several promises to come out to fix the faulty installation, still nothing. Promises to come within 2 weeks, nothing, not even a call. Then another promise. Trex reps have been copied on every email but they refuse to help. Trex only cares about selling the product - obviously they don't care if their 'Trex pro installers' install a deck according to their specifications. From the very beginning, we were impressed by his positive attitude, knowledge, and artistic vision. We told him what we were looking for and he had several designs drawn up that allowed us to visualize exactly what our backyard would look like. He was more than easy to get ahold of and gladly answered all of our questions. Within days of tearing out our old deck, my family and I were enjoying our brand new one. It's the perfect place to barbecue with friends or simply relax after a long day.
