**Q: Help me choose a backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi, 
I have been running around now for about two months looking for a backsplash for my kitchen and I am still unsure what to do. 

I currently have two samples at home and would love to hear from you if these can work or I should do something else.

The fluted tile is a large format tile 24 x 24 and the other one is the size of the sample.

My go-to color would be a nice timeless warm white - unless you REALLY need to spice your kitchen up. In that case i’d suggest an accent color you can use as a fil-rouge throughout the whole house

**Q: Narrow Hallway Update- Wainscoting?** *(in Polls)*

Seeking advice! This hallway leads to our garage, the first door on the right is the powder room. It’s pretty central, highly visible and has high traffic. The walls need some TLC , then of course a new runner and bench.
Ceiling is 9’ high. Here are my questions:
1- wainscoting or not? Opposite wall is all doors so only one segment can include a panel but that segment has the big vent!!
2- wallpaper or regular paint?
3- in an effort to brighten the space, what color combination should be used for the panels/ walls? Which one is typically darker. 
Any advice or pictures for inspiration are greatly appreciated! I’ve added a few other photos of the surrounding spaces for the general vibe.

A: Hi there, I really like the personality you gave to your house!
As someone else mentioned before, the hallway is quite narrow. So I would avoid any furniture on the way and I would use the same color on all the walls, including ceiling and vent. I like the current color. Trims look nice in white - as they give a bit of movement/ contrast.
I’d add a carpet that is as long as the wall with the doors, and stops before the living room. On the plain wall, either a big colorful piece of art or a collection of pictures. From the ceiling I suggest pendants - two should be enough - so that the high ceiling seems shortening a bit.

**Q: reconfiguring this space to create a primarysuite** *(in Remodeling)*

This site has been so helpful - I can’t resist asking this community.  We are purchasing this 1913 home which currently has 4 smallish bedrooms and one bathroom on the 2nd floor, with a staircase leading to a semi finished attic.  We have some ideas about how to combine two bedrooms. to make a somewhat small primary with its own bath and walk in closet, but I’m wondering what you all think?  TIA!

**Q: Living room layout.** *(in Home Decorating)*

Where would you put the furniture in this room. It Needs to have a small sofa, two chairs and tv. There is a fireplace where it shows on the floor plan. And what to do with the odd corner (backside of closet)??  Thanks for any suggestions!

A: Hi there - here my version.
I placed two credenzas on opposite walls as you can easily play some symmetry - in the dining area for all the tableware surmounted by a nice artwork; in the living area surmounted by the tv. Two same-sized rugs to identify the areas and make them more cohesive.
The “odd corner” would be dedicated to your hobby - reading, playing music, studying, collecting items, etc or simply a nice entry bench and/or table with some ad-hoc decor, or even just a closet.

**Q: Dining room ideas?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am trying to decide between 2 dining room options to seat up to 6 people in a small-ish dining room.  I have seen a newly refurnished pedestal round 54 inch table (white base and grey washed top) that I would need to get chairs for.   OR a more traditional 63 inch round with edges that fold down to make a square, and it comes with 6 chairs with leather seats.  I am looking for a way to  add color and interest.   The walls are grey and white, and my accent color is blue.  Is there any way to easily cover the leather seats?   Maybe mix and match chairs for the white/grey table?  What style chair would look best with the grey/white table?

A: Hi there! I love the challenge of your project.
Having gray and white walls the accents can really make the dining room area special. Blue is a great color, but for accents I’d go for a brighter color - yellow/gold work well with blue, as well as sage green, or coral/copper.
Since you mentioned the room is kind of small, I’d like to suggest an extendable table option - especially if you don’t really need to seat 6 people at every meal. Round or rectangular (best with round corners) table can work for you.
Regarding the chairs, you might want to consider either standard seat-covers or custom upholstery.

**Q: Need Advice on Best Mirror Shape for Off Center Sinks** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi - what mirror shape would look best with this vanity that has off centered sinks and 3 sconces hung. It's the vanity of a master bath in a new build.

A: Hi, unfortunately I would agree with the colleagues answers above - there wasn’t much of planning ahead.
But the good news is that a solution can be found.
Because sinks are centered on the cabinet but not on the walkable area, I would suggest a wall mirror (red area) with built-in sockets and scones relocated, both horizontally.
