**Q: Pretty-Up My Living Room Fireplace Wall** *(in Home Decorating)*

The fireplace wall in my LR needs a refresh. I’ve lived here over two years and can’t decide what to do with it. I love the built-ins but want to enhance the middle section. The fireplace wall is flush with the cabinets so would it be weird to somehow add a mantel, especially given that the tile surround ends lower than the cabinet height? Also, any cool ideas for on top of the cabinets, noting that for my own taste, less is more. Thank you!

A: Another option worth considering is turning the whole fireplace wall into a media wall — paneling or slat cladding around the fireplace with the TV mounted above and hidden storage either side.
