Architectural Kitchens & Baths is an architect led design firm that has been successfully remodeling kitchens and bathrooms since 2005. We design spaces for new cabinetry projects. Our design services can include the selection of quality cabinetry, hardware, countertops, tile, paint colors, lighting, fixtures and appliances.

Our designers’ take everything into consideration as we fully integrate style, form and function into your project. If it’s important to you, it’s important to us. Because decisions affecting your kitchen and baths affect other rooms, our creations are always “architecturally sound” to naturally flow with the rest of your home. We ask each client the right questions to familiarize ourselves with your likes, dislikes, wants, desires and needs. If the thought of so many styles and options seems a bit overwhelming, don’t worry! Our thorough and conscientious designers promise to make the whole process as simple and streamlined as possible.

> The company came in and repaired a broken bathroom faucet. The stem had been broken and that part couldn’t be found I call the company at this point to ask them to fix the faucet. The faucet had to be sawed out and the old pipes and new pipes porperly connected so nothing more would break. The company came in replaced the faucet cleaned up and left they were here only a few hours

> I love this company. Within 5 minutes of seeing my kitchen, Brent designed a layout that no other had envisioned. We couldn't be happier! His cabinets are top shelf and at a very reasonable price. The installers were tops as well...very professional. I can't wait to do our master bath and use them again. Thanks Brent!

> We just remodeled our kitchen and worked with the designers at AKandB on the design and cabinet order. Their designers were extremely helpful and thorough throughout the process. They helped keep us within our budget plus they knew go to suppliers for tile, flooring, and counter tops. We would recommend them for anyone wishing to do a kitchen or bath above the base builder grade.

> AK & B designed our state of the art kitchen using a Sub-Zero refrigerator, ASKO dishwasher, Jenn-Air gas range with double oven, custom made cabinets and table. We are thrilled with the results and believe they can turn anyone's kitchen into their dream kitchen!

**Comment from Architectural Kitchens & Baths:**

> You and your family were a pleasure to work with and we appreciate your kind words!

> After downsizing from the home where I raised my family, I wanted a floor plan that I felt comfortable and safe in as a single female. The house I found was perfect, except for the kitchen. I hired a builder who put up nice white cabinetry and new countertops and thought I was done. Three years after installation, the wall cabinets started to visibly sag and I was beyond disappointed. My daughter-in-law worked part time for this company and set up a "meet and greet" with one of their designers, Robin. Not only was she friendly and warm, she saw with her professional eye a way to make my kitchen more functional, more "attractive" from the doorway looking in... I would have never dreamed of making the changes she suggested. They really worked beautifully. My investment was a fraction more than what the builder cost me... and has already lasted years longer.

> I am a sales representative for Mouser Cabinetry and I am personally involved with many of the customers who purchase kitchens and baths from Architectural Kitchens and Baths. The employees at Mouser know each designer on a first name basis and very eager to make sure your kitchen buying experience at AKB meets and exceeds your expectations. AKB is consistently one of my top dealers.

## Community Q&A

**Q: could we get information on Mudroom lockers or cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Did you guys build these or subcontract the lockers out? We’d love to get a quote on a much smaller version with a bench for our home.

A: This customized piece was part of a whole kitchen renovation using a cabinetry line. Providing this image as an example, you might approach a local craftsman for a quote to reproduce something similar.

**Q: question about the island** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello. I am in the "imagine" phase of designing a new laundry room for myself. I like the look of an island, similar to this. Are the skinny drawers for storage or are they slide-out drying drawers? I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

A: Drawers are for storage! Wide angle camera makes them appear a bit thinner than they actually are… thanks for your interest!

**Q: Master bath lighting dilemma for 72" vanity** *(in Lighting)*

I'd love some help choosing my master bath lighting placement over my 72" vanity. One side of the vanity is a 90 degree wall where a medicine cabinet will be and the other side is open above the vanity with the tub deck connected perpendicular to the vanity. I have 9' ceilings. My contractor suggests if I choose sconces above the 2 sinks, they should be 18-20" in width based on the sink placements (the sinks are centered with the vanity cabinet doors not the counter top so they are 4" further to the sides leaving a larger space in the middle of the counter ) I will have 1 large framed (2 1/4" trim) mirror above the vanity with a 4" back splash. My thoughts: Option 1 - 2 three bulb sconces, 18-20" wide above each sink (but that may not be wide enough for the space) Option 2 - 3 three bulb sconces 18-20" wide above the two sinks and one in the middle or Option 3 - 1 four bulb sconce in the middle in between the sinks. Any thoughts are appreciated!

A: Comparable ceiling height.

**Q: What is your favorite kitchen countertop material?** *(in Home Decorating)*

One can find negative comments on this site and others on almost every kitchen countertop material available. For newbie updaters like myself, it makes it difficult to select a material and feel confident about it. What kitchen countertop material have you used and been the happiest with and why?

A: Scanning the responses, I haven't seen Dekton mentioned. For client's that are looking for long-range durability and clean simple edges, we've done several projects using this "ultra-compact" surface. Each to their own!

**Q: marble countertops - yay or nay?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

So I fell in love with a marble slab. Like I want to marry it. However, I have two young kids, I am not high maintenance, love to cook. Is this material a bad choice for me? I would love it on a big island. But yes, things will get spilt and I will do lot's of prep there. Any experience with marble? Do you like it in terms of upkeep, etc? Thank you! Here's a photo of the marble slab in case you want to drool.

A: We did a fairly large project (perimeter and island) with Honed Calacatta Lincoln. The family had two young children and the island was the central hub for crafts and homework. Parents were avid cooks/entertainers and red wine drinkers. Over a year and half after we completed the project, the homeowner elected to be on a kitchen tour to benefit a local charity. We were curious how the marble would look after 18+ months of the family's use. It was pristine... with the exception of one faint spot on the island. A good sealer and diligently "wiping" up after spills was key. Note: the homeowner even used the leftover piece from the slab in her laundry room!

**Q: Where is the Large Handle from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I have a large pantry, and need to find a beautiful large handle for it!

A: All Hardware in the kitchen was from Schaub, including the handle on the Sub Zero you see in the picture! Corinthian Collection, Ancient Bronze. Thanks for your inquiry!
