> When you start a project, the questions begin: how will I make all these decisions? How will I know what to do or what to pick or when? The answer is: Michelle Winick. My wife and I gutted our dated colonial with the hope and plan of completely updating the structure inside and out. We wanted a transitional look that had a young, modern feel that still remained true to some of our traditional tastes. Working with Michelle Winick was the best decision in our entire process. We interviewed three different decorators and even replaced one we had hired very early in the process. The fact is that calling Michelle a decorator understates her value. She helped review the contract with our builder and recommended several cost-saving (and time saving) ideas. She is a bright, easy to work with and no-none sense true professional. From the moment we broke ground, Michelle helped guide the entire vision and timing of the construction process working closely (and not in confrontation with) our builder. She had a vision for the house and together with my wife's input helped execute on that vision. Michelle is not obstinate and doesn't believe there is only one way to do things. She is all about customer service and has a very keen sense of space, colors, dimension, elegance and craft. From helping redesign elements of the architectural layout midway through construction to helping pick out quality materials from tile, paint and trim (especially!) she is the complete package. She made sure that the look, feel and flow of the house was consistent throughout. One of the other great things about Michelle is that she is economic and knows how to respect a budget. She knows when to spend and (and how) to save an owner money and did that for us many times. Beyond the structural, her taste in furniture, window treatments, carpetry and how to marry materials and texture with all the other elements of the house was once again beyond our expectation!! She worked weekend, nights and was always available to us.

Even though I only hired her for choosing paint colors, she gave me valuable advices on choosing floor stain and moulding/stair rail.
