> I've worked with Barbara for 13 years on various projects in both our homes. Her attention to detail, craftsmanship, and impeccable installs are just a few reasons I've continued to work with her over the past few years. I love and look forward to the design process when beginning a project. Barbara keeps you involved in every step from renderings, fabrication (which she does herself) to the final and fabulous install! She is a joy to work with!

> I have had the most wonderful experience working with Barbara Phillips at Center Stage Interior Designs. We have been working together for almost two years on various projects in my home. What is wonderful about Barbara is that she specializes in design plus fabrication plus installation so that its a full concept to completion experience! Her craftsmanship and attention to detail has wowed all of my most discerning friends and family, leading to may referrals all with great success! I highly recommend Barbara for your next interior design project!

**★★★★★ — Katie Eibye, July 2017**

> Barbara's hard work, patience, and professionalism far exceeded my expectations. She never once made me feel like I was pestering her with questions. Any ideas I had she would expand on them to make them better, and her attitude was always positive. I always felt like my project was her number one priority. The added benefit is that Barbara not only creates the design (emailing pictures of what the future area will look like), she also does the installations of window treatments/decorations herself - taking the project from concept to completion! Finally, her turnaround time for pricing/ideas is extremely fast!

> Barbara has been a dream to work with. I purchased a new home in 2013 and desperately needed help with window treatments (my first immediate concern). As a full time working mom, I didn't have the time or energy to get this done on my own. Barbara was so wonderful, she not only helped with the window treatments but also decorated my whole family room (helped with layout, furniture purchases, rugs, pillows, etc). She uses a design program to help you visualize everything which has been very helpful to ensure you make a confident choice. She understood my need for a functional design since I had a young child, which was also key for me. Since then she has done work on almost every room in my house. No project is too big or small. She is always creative, thoughtful, meticulous and easy to work with. She helps with everything from concept to completion and even hangs everything herself.

> I have hired Barbara for numerous projects in my home over the past 4 years and I have been so extremely happy with her work. I can sew myself and have made some drapes for my home but for the bigger projects I decided to hire Barbara because she is a designer that can fabricate her own designs as well so she has intimate knowledge off what type of fabrics will work best for the designs chosen. Her attention to detail is so precise and her work is beautiful. Specifically she made beautiful cornices for me that were very wide (some 120 inches). They are beautiful and complete the room. She does all of her own installations as well which is quite impressive. She has re-installed the drapes I made which was a huge improvement over what I had initially done. She is literally with you from design, fabrication and through installation. I also hired Barbara for shades. Again, she did a wonderful job of installation on these as well. Barbara is a true professional and I look forward to finding another reason to hire Barbara again.

## Selected projects

- [Sudbury MA Two-Story Family Room](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/sudbury-ma-two-story-family-room-pj-vj~2115016)
  - Location: Sudbury, MA
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: Two-story banded panels with platinum poles make this family room serene, dramatic, and a retreat for a busy family. The effect of custom window treatments with superb craftsmanship is amazing in this space. New light fixture replaced a fan, and this brings the architecture to a more human scale and provides much needed soft (and dimmable) light at night. Tucker, the family dog, is right at home here!

  - Description: We love window seats! The beige Sunbrella fabric works well in seat and back cushions for this sunny window in a MA farmhouse kitchen. The red window seat and awning valance give this mudroom a fresh and inviting look. A perfect vantage point for waiting for the schoolbus to arrive home. The blue coastal look is on Cape Cod, a perfect sunny window for reading and relaxing.

  - Description: This updated bathroom in Weston, MA already featured a black and white color scheme complemented nicely with the blue slate wall color. A black embroidered floral fabric from Westgate was perfect to add a bit of happiness and whimsy to the space. The roman shade is in the relaxed style, a faux shade (non-functioning) that acts like a valance.

  - Description: This 1894 Victorian in Milton, MA is a gem! This room, off the Master Bedroom, serves as the couple's dressing space (with closets on one wall) and a haven for the whole family. Barbara recommended the relaxed roman valances (atop roller shades for privacy) to adorn the 5-sided turret and additional banded panels on two windows in a beautiful embroidered serpentine fabric. This family loves the beach, and this retreat gives them that serenity during the week in the city.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Guest bedroom colors** *(in Polls)*

I'm not sure if all the colors go together

A: Yes, teal and lime green go together, and you can have a neutral in there too for a happy mix. The photo might not read very true, but I think the wall color looks too yellow for the teal and lime combo...it needs to be gray or griege or a very neutral beige. That aside, the surefire way to bring teal and lime together is to find a pillow or other textiles for the space (area rug?) that have greens and blues in them together. You are currently "processing" each of the colors individually, and nothing is bringing them all together. Lots of fabrics are out there to do this integration. Perhaps new panels in a geometric or print with these colors can bring it together? The WT looks out of synch with the modern chair.

**Q: Window treatment help!?** *(in Polls)*

I would really like to do woven/bamboo window treatments th my home, but am really hung up on which color. I have a special walnut type shade floor and dark walnut Butcher block, dining table and decor. Should I go with a lighter bamboo shade, or try to match the floors or butcher?

A: Maria, I'm not sure what region you live in. For WT help, I suggest you consult WCAA.org to get a list of WT specialists in your area. We are all small business owners (independents) and can really give you the custom look you seek. I am in MA (Sudbury, about 20 miles west of Boston) and would love to assist you if you are local. WCAA has chapters all over the country, and this is a good start to finding a dedicated professional who can help. You can also look in the "Find Professionals" area here, under Window Treatments. It will be very straightforward to treat that triple window with a woven wood, cordless even. I think that style will look great in your home, and I recommend a medium tone wood (nothing light), just like the other posters recommended. Just not any orange-tone in the woven wood, stick to clear brown and beige. Best regards, Barbara www.CenterStageInteriorDesigns.com

**Q: Paint** *(in Photo Questions)*

What are the paint colors used here?

A: Sorry, I don't know the paint color, as the client had already had the room painted when she consulted me to do the window treatments. I would guess it is Benjamin Moore 1459 Metro Gray, perfect for a teenage boy.
